Remarks

There is one thing that can be bad for girls i.e. There is strict dress code for girls. Shorts are not allowed in the college premises, not even on fests and functions.

Entrance Preview

I got admission on the basis of merit. I gave various entrance exams but I couldn't clear any of it. However, i got admission on the basis of my 12th score in economics honours. I was also getting bcom hons but chose economics due to its wide demand between the students.Admission process is simple and is based on DU cutoffs. If you have the required marks then you can easily get admission in the college without any fuss. No interview was conducted during my admission. I chose this college because it is the second best commerce college after SRCC and has the best infrastructure and a good crowd. Moreover, its the best Sikh colleges in comparison to others.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The first is year is all practical while the second and third year is all majorly about theory. This course is designed to expose first-year students, who may be new to economics, the basic principles of microeconomic theory. The emphasis will be on thinking like an economist and the course will illustrate how microeconomic concepts can be applied to analyse real-life situations.

Internships Opportunities

An internship is one of the most different experiences in my life as a college student. It made me realize that interest in your work was a lie we taught ourselves. On a serious note, it also taught me how to work hard, fast and pay attention to detail.

Placement Experience

3

You need to register for CPC to get placement and job opportunities. The main endeavor of CPC, University of Delhi is to get students placed in reputed multinationals, government jobs, NGO's and the private sector. All registered students with CPC are entitled to placement assistance, counseling for employment and even self employment. The cell assures support to the visiting companies at every stage of the placement process by making university infrastructure available to them.

College Events

3

For all round development of the students, the college has many clubs and societies. These provide ample scope for student participation in varied co-curricular activities and help them develop leadership qualities, a sense of social responsibility and public speaking.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College awards scholarships to deserving and needful students. Funding of these scholarships are from contributions made by the Governing Body, existing and former faculty members and also our alumni. Some of these scholarships are named in dedication of departed family members. A noble way of keeping their memories alive.

Campus Life

5

College life is not only about academics, it is also about campus life, extracurricular activities and cultural events because this is what will define your life for the next 3-4 years.

Hostel Facilities

4

All admissions to the Hostel are made strictly on the basis of merit. Only those candidates whose immediate family members do not reside within 30 km. (as the crow flies) of the College are considered for admissions. At the time of admissions chosen candidates must be accompanied by their Parents/ Local Guardians for an interview with the Warden/Hostel Committee. A Local Guardian should be someone who holds a responsible position in an organisation and/or possesses an authentic authorisation from a parent. In no case shall she/he be a student.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are quite helping and the alumni network is also good. Always ready to help. They even guide you for future options. There are strict rules against ragging.

Faculty

4

All the professors are extremely qualified and have got their degrees from great American and British Universities. The teachers for Mathematics and Economics are superb and are thoroughly knowledgeable. Students love their lecturers and rarely feel the need to bunk. Lectures are conducted purely in English. In a nutshell, AWESOME! However, the students are getting a feeling that the faculty is degrading because the college is recruiting some new teachers to comply with certain recent norms.

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

Placement Experience:

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option
