New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified about the another shift of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 exam to be conducted in Kanpur on May 29, 2024.
The exam is only for students who could not appear at the Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges exam centre. The authorities made this decision after a wrong question paper was distributed for the May 15, 2024 examination.
A senior NTA official said “In one of the exam centres, the invigilators mistakenly distributed English medium question paper to the Hindi medium students. It affected nearly 215 students, who could not appear for the exam on that day, i.e. May 15. So we will conduct an exam for those affected students on May 29. However, this is not a re-exam.”
NTA will also conduct the CUET UG exam for Delhi exam centres on May 29, 2024. The exam was postponed on May 14, 2024, due to ‘manpower issues’. NTA refuted reports of alleged paper leaks in CUET UG exams.
Why was the CUET UG 2024 Exam Rescheduled for May 29?
The issue in Kanpur was caused by the wrong question paper being distributed at one exam center. A similar incident happened in the NEET UG exam at Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Hindi-medium students at this NEET UG center received English-medium question papers.
The NEET UG exam at this center was conducted on May 5, 2024. NTA also refuted reports of a paper leak in the exam. CUET UG 2024 commenced on May 15, 2024. The exam was conducted at 2,157 examination centers in India and 26 cities abroad.
UGC reported over 75% attendance on the first day of CUET UG 2024. 643,752 candidates appeared for the Chemistry exam in 1,640 centers, 363,067 candidates appeared for the Biology exam in 1,368 centers, 862,209 candidates appeared for the English exam in 2,077 centers, and 721,986 candidates appeared for the General Studies exam in 1,892 centers.
The second day of CUET UG 2024 was conducted on May 16, 2024. The exam was held in approximately 1,578 centers in India and abroad. Attendance for economics was 85%, Hindi was 78%, physics was 77%, and mathematics/applied mathematics was 78% on the second day.
