Faculty

There is lack of faculties in my and one or more other programs. We dont have much faculties for every subject. In 1st year we got our one of the faculties after 5 months. Same in 2nd year 1 faculty is teaching us 3 subject. For 1 subject there is no faculty. Other subjects faculties don't show up much. But the faculty who teach us 3 subject is so good. He teaches us and guide properly in our subject and for future. He gives us extra knowledge so we can use it in our life and in our future study wise. Most of the faculties are like rookies so they don't have too much knowledge about teaching and they given other duties beside of teaching from college side which is not necessary so they cant participate completely in teaching. There is one mid-exam, one submission, one viva and one external exam per semester which are not too tough. It is easy if you have studied well all over the semester. In the exam some faculties are helpfull so we can get our doubt solved.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm doing Bachelors of chemical engineering. My current fees are 66000 per annum. I've to pay full amount after that I get scholarship from gujarat government. Admission fee is 2000, enrollment fees is 1000, university fees are 1200, another tution fees are 5800. After that you have to pay for external exams which are 3000 or more . If you have backlog then you have to pay 1000 per subject. You can get the scholarship provided by government like MYSY or From digital gujarat.Where you can get partial or full payback of your fees but only for SC and ST category. If you are from general or obc category there is no compensation. If you are from General or OBC category you can apply for MYSY scholarship which is on merit based.

Faculty

The faculty is very knowledgeable as well as approchable. There is one midsemester examination and one comprehensive examination along with multiple quizzes and assignments in ome semester. Grading is on a relative scale. The examinations for the circuital branches are pretty difficult. However, a course total of only 10% is required to clear the subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

The courses taught in the chemical department are very relevant to the industry. Due to the regular assessments, students are up-to-date with everything happening in class. The teachers show some degree of flexibility if quizzes from other courses are overlapping. The exams (for chem engg) are easy if what is taught in class is clear.

so i opted this college by Comedk Quota , where i have paid 281000 as tution fees for the first year and they asked for a DD of 32100 as skill lab fees and VTU (visvesvarya technological university ) fees . apart from this if you are staying in hostel then you have to pay 155000 per year . The 32100 DD is only one time payment.

Faculty

Here relation between faculty and student is much better than other institues. Here, anyone can approach the concern faculty without any hesitation. The faculty i like the most is our Head of Department, he is such a kind, knowledgeable and quiet concerned for student's betterment. He used to teach us new things related to our course. Here we face 3 exams per semester- 2 MSTs(Mid Semester Test) which is of 20 each, it maybe online or offline depending upon the course and the another examination is End Semester Examination which is of 60. Now let's talk about the difficulty level of examinations, nothing is difficult or easy its always relative, the better you prepared the good you score.

Course Curriculum Overview

As i am pursuing B.Tech/B.E in Chemical Engineering, i must say this branch is such a fun for reaction lovers , who are eager to know how this happens and how will we get to our desirable product in a economical way without compromising with the quality of product. My decision to chose this branch is my interest in reactions and their mechanisms.

Causion Deposite (Refundable): Rs 100 (paid once during admission). Admission Fee: Rs 100 (One time payment). Overall the annual fee comes to around Rs 3000 to Rs 4000, depending on some additional minor changes. Hostel Fee(if applicable) Seat Rent: Rs 15 per month. Electricity Charges: Rs 10 per month. This makes the total hostel fees roughly 300 to 400 Rupees annually, making Jadavpur University Best for Tution as well as Accomodation. Hostel Rooms and Toilets are Decent and good for an average hostel. Scholarships And Financial Aid: There are Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships and National and State Governmnet Scholarchips.

Faculty

About 50 students per facukty depending on section specific classes and for broad subject 1 faculty per 100 students. But in lab threre are 1 lab faculty per 20 students. Dr.Prapita Das ma'am and Dr.Ranjana Das ma'am is very liked here I dont like KKG and ASD as their classes feel lie they are showing you what they know and not trying to teach you. Depends on the class and subjects but easier than IIT papers but way way harder than norman college.

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculum is designed in such a way that most of the core subjects are taught by the end of 3 re year so that at the time of placement students can prepare from starting of 4 th year . The subjects are assigned each semester in a way that the prerequisite syllabus is already completed. The combination of easy to difficult subjects is also choosen wisely keeping student's benefit at priority. The experiments are well aligned with theory part and relevant to industry. Exams are done on Regular basis after every 2 months . There are two Minors of 25 marks each and best of these os taken for final calculations. The final exam is of moderate difficulty level and consist of 50 marks. The left marks are assigned on the basis of attendance, class performance, and assignment.

Faculty

Faculty here are one of the finest professors in the field of chemical engineering and also they themselves have in hand industrial experience. Minor exams are conducting twice a semester at the gap of 1.5 to 2 months . For marking best of two minor is taken each carrying 25 marks . The final Exam carry 50 marks and left 25 are marked on the basis of attendance, assignment and class performance. Paper level goes from easy to moderate consisting few difficult questions to maintain the balance but if one follow previous year questions paper it is not difficult to perform well . All the faculty is working hard to make things easy for us but the new appointed teachers who have just competed phds they still lack experience somewhere which will come with time.

Ans. Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi. Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians. IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.Read more

Ques. How is the chemical engineering department at NIT Rourkela?

● Top Answer By Ankita Bhattacharya on 15 Jan 22

Ans. According to the student’s reviews online, you should not opt for chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.  Here are some reasons as to why: The faculty of the department is not good, they are mostly new at their jobs and have very little educational experience. They focus more on theoretical learning than practicals. They prefer when students mug up theories rather than understanding them in depth. The teachers sometimes give so many assignments that it becomes impossible to complete them in time. There is a lot of communication gap between students and teachers. Lastly, the placement scenario of this department is bad. Most of the students are going into the IT sector and a very few got recruited in core industries and many students did not even receive placement offers. So considering everything it is suggested you do not pursue chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.Read more

Ques. Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

● Top Answer By Pankaj Kumar on 05 Aug 21

Ans. Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET. UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.  They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base. Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar. Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.  Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better. CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses. However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms. Categories Chemical Engineering at UICET Chemical Engineering at Thapar University CSE at CCET Chandigarh Course Fee INR 70,079 13.23 lakh 2.45 lakh Highest CTC 18 LPA 15 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 6.31 LPA 7 LPA 4-5 LPA Recruiting Companies Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc. Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.Read more

Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Shikha Ghosal on 14 Sept 23

Ans. The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Surathkal isn’t well-known because of its obsolete curriculum and poor placement scenario. I hope you haven’t yet joined it but if you have known that there is no turning back. It’s better to start working hard to compensate for the poor branch than to sit and regret.  It’s better to opt for Chemical in Trichy or Warangal. Otherwise, you can study hard in the 1st year and opt for a branch change. Even if you fail to get CSE/IT, even civil and mining will do.  I have many friends who joined this department recently and all of them are regretting their decision big time. Some even call it the worst in the institution. So I will recommend you to go for Chemical in NIT Warangal instead. Read more
