AISSMS College of Engineering (AISSMSCOE), Pune, offers a 4-year full-time Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Chemical Engineering, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and approved by AICTE. The programme has a seat intake of 60 seats and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Annual tuition and development fees for the open category stand at Rs. 1,63,000 per year, making the total 4-year course fee approximately Rs. 6,52,000 (excluding other charges). Admission is primarily through MHT-CET scores via the Maharashtra CAP (Centralized Admission Process), and the course is offered in regular full-time on-campus mode. Chemical Engineering at AISSMSCOE is popular for its strong industry linkages in Pune's chemical and manufacturing sector, experienced faculty, and the college's NAAC A+ accreditation.

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic year are upcoming. MHT-CET 2026 registration closed on February 24, 2026, and the PCM exam was conducted from April 11-19, 2026. Results are expected in June 2026, after which CAP rounds for engineering admissions will be conducted (tentatively August 2026). Students who have appeared in MHT-CET 2026 or JEE Main 2026 are eligible to participate in the CAP process.

Key Points

AISSMSCOE: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 11 Reviews

In 2015, Maharashtra's engineering college admissions required JEE Mains and board PCM scores. Applicants completed the DTE registration form and could apply through MHCET or JEE Mains. The process included document verification at ARC centers, college selection on the DTE website, and participation in three admission rounds. Post-allotment, candidates could choose to float, switch, or freeze their seats, confirmed at ARC centers. Vacant seats after CAP rounds were filled via Management rounds.

Special quotas and scholarships, like those for army personnel, were available. The college boasted strong placements, with over 50% of students securing jobs annually. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Godrej, and Tech Mahindra were major recruiters, with average packages of 4-5.5 lakhs per annum, peaking at 12 lakhs. Internships started in the 2nd year, facilitated by faculty and industry connections. The college's standardized admission process across Maharashtra included dedicated offices for facilitation.

All faculty held PhDs, with a faculty-to-student ratio of 65:1, and were supportive despite the high ratio. Non-teaching staff played a crucial role. Tuition fees for open category students ranged from 1 to 1.2 LPA, with OBC students paying half. Fees for reserved categories followed a specific structure, with scholarships and government aid available. Costs were slightly higher due to the Pune location. Various scholarships, such as the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj and Dr.

Babasaheb Ambedkar scholarships, supported students. General category fees were about Rs. 1,25,000, with OBC fees at 50-60% of this. The college assisted with education loans and had a dedicated scholarship department. The Centre for Training and Placement actively improved student placement prospects.

AISSMSCOE BE Chemical Engineering FAQs

Ques. Is Chemical Engineering a good choice at AISSMS COE Pune, given that it is a smaller branch compared to Computer or Mechanical Engineering?

Ans. Chemical Engineering at AISSMSCOE is a well-established department (since 1996) with NBA accreditation and experienced faculty. While the batch size is smaller (60 seats), this actually works in students' favour as they get more individual attention from faculty and better access to lab facilities. Pune has a strong chemical, pharmaceutical, and FMCG industry base, and students from this department have found placements in companies like Thermax, Praj Industries, Hindustan Unilever, and various pharma firms. The smaller batch size also means a tighter-knit alumni network, which can be helpful for internships and job referrals.

Ques. What is the actual total fee I will pay for the entire BE Chemical Engineering course at AISSMS COE?

Ans. For an Open category Maharashtra student admitted through CAP, the FRA-approved tuition and development fee is Rs. 1,63,000 per year. Over 4 years, this amounts to Rs. 6,52,000. In the first year, additional charges such as university exam fees, eligibility fees, Amartya Shiksha Yojana, and form fees bring the total first-year payment to approximately Rs. 1,69,351. Subsequent years will have tuition and development fees plus university exam fees each semester. Management quota students pay Rs. 4,89,000 per year as per FRA norms. Hostel (optional) costs an additional Rs. 1,05,000 per year.

Ques. Can I get admission to BE Chemical Engineering at AISSMS COE through JEE Main, or is MHT-CET mandatory?

Ans. Both MHT-CET and JEE Main scores are accepted for admission through the Maharashtra CAP process. However, for Maharashtra state candidates, MHT-CET is the primary and more competitive route. JEE Main scores are also considered during the CAP process, and seats are allocated based on a combined merit list. If you are an OMS (Outside Maharashtra State) candidate, JEE Main is the primary route. It is advisable to appear in both exams to maximize your chances.

Ques. How is the placement scenario specifically for Chemical Engineering students at AISSMS COE?

Ans. Chemical Engineering placements at AISSMSCOE are primarily in the process, pharmaceutical, FMCG, and manufacturing sectors. Companies like Thermax, Praj Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Lupin, Sun Pharma, and various chemical process companies have recruited from the department. The college's overall placement rate is around 53% (as per FRA data), but Chemical Engineering students often find niche roles in core chemical industries. Many students also pursue higher studies (ME/MTech in Chemical Engineering, which is also offered at AISSMSCOE) or appear for GATE to get into PSUs like ONGC, IOCL, and BPCL.

Ques. What documents are required at the time of admission to AISSMS COE after CAP seat allotment?

Ans. After CAP seat allotment, you need to report to AISSMS COE with the following original documents: HSC (Class 12) marksheet and passing certificate, SSC (Class 10) marksheet, MHT-CET 2026 scorecard, CAP allotment letter, domicile/nationality certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), income certificate (for EBC/TFWS/OBC), Aadhaar card, passport-size photographs, and migration certificate (if from outside Maharashtra). For reserved category students, a caste validity certificate is also required. It is advisable to carry multiple photocopies of all documents.

Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for Chemical Engineering students at AISSMS COE?

Ans. Hostel accommodation at AISSMS COE is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. The college hostel has a total capacity of 150 seats across all AISSMS institutions, with only 40 seats specifically allocated for AISSMSCOE students. Rooms are available in 2-seater and 3-seater configurations. The hostel and mess fee is Rs. 1,05,000 per academic year (payable in two installments). Students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation early after admission confirmation, as seats fill up quickly. The hostel is well-regulated with canteen and other facilities available on campus.
