I have a few friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology and based on what I heard from them, I will suggest you to look for other options. Having a college campus in Kolkata will be advantageous for you. You can get IT in Techno India salt-lake main campus. If you don’t get Techno you can go for CSE in B.P. Poddar, RCC or St. Thomas, or any other college. Follow previous year trends of opening and closing ranks of the college and make a choice accordingly. Choosing the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata can be risky because it is newly established. Even though it is under the banner of IEM, you can’t be certain about placements. It also offers good industrial exposure to its students through various kinds of workshops, seminars, and guest lectures. UEM is a very new college so it cannot be compared with old institutions like Heritage or CIEM. Our college infrastructure is very teacher's don't have that much knowledge and placement is also not so don't accept too much things from our college. If you want to destroy your life then our college is best for this they will just make too much unnecessary rules which you have to follow blindly and our fees is 1.5L per year tution fee is 1.5L caution money is approx 10 thousand and i don't receive any scholarship yet

Great college in Kolkata

For first semester we had to pay 120000 and after then 850000 for the rest of the 7 semester, The fees might slightly increase with the upcoming years but its bearable i can surely say this. They provide scholarships to the student on the basis of merit .

Variety of courses and many branches of CSE available (though these are added recently, so you can get an idea that the teaching capability in those curriculum still need a huge implementation).

Dislikes

Unorganized, lack of management, need immediate improvement in infrastructure as this year(2025) itself college took 2k students and even having 3 buildings but huge verities of offered courses.

Student Snaps:

1.1L per sem and 2 sem every yr that is why 2.2 Lakhs per year. Consider more 5k/yr for other stuff like exam reg fee, lab accessories etc. In first year 10k for dress and shoes and10k for books. They charge 1.2L+/yr for hostel (few of my friends stay there) excluding transportation(college bus) fees which is 6k/month. So, for a freshly joinee guy: Est. 4.4 lakhs per year total (including hostel). They run a scholarship in the name of financial aid programme for extremly needed student (job loss, family member death vice-versa) where they cover upto 1.2L per yr.

Everything requires money

Providing the Coursera license which is free pf cost

Universal of Engineering and management tells the students that they provide 100% placement. The biggest lie they tell to the students zero and in every month they will be assigning new faculty in the mid of the session not so much advanced labs . Not worth it for paying more than 6 lakhs incluing the examination fees. All they need is money be it your examination fees or provisional certificate.

During the admissions I paid 95000 one time for admission in which fee for the1st semester was included and then 70000 per semester fee for rest of the 7 semesters. And semester exam fee of 1000-1500.

The experience of the college

In the 1st sem you have to pay 97500, in the 2nd sem you have to pay 95000 and from the 3rd sem onwards you have to pay 87500 every sem. You will have many scholarships in which you will get atleast 30-40 thousand rupees.

Mandatory strict attendance criteria, u get debarred if attendance is low.

The admission fees each semester is 85000/- excluding the hostel fees, at the end of each semister we pay the End Semester Exam fees which is 1200/- after which we get the admit card and can sit for the Exams.The Admission fees above mentioned includes the development fees, registration fees, development fees, lab fees and no external charges are applicable during the time of course completion. This fee structure is applicable for day scholars and private PG students, those who wish to stay in the college hostel have their charges included in the Semester fees. Most of my batchmates are day scholars and hence they pay the same amount whereas some of my batch mated live in private PG so for them too the semester fees are only applicable. But some live in the college hostel they pay extra as the hostel fees. Tution fees are also externally added with the semester fees if a student is i n need of tuitions under the college faculties. Student loans and scholarships are also available for all students studing here.

The total fees structure is 7.85L of the entire course.the fee payment done by semester wise,95k per semester and in the year 1.10L year.there is tution fees waver for the sc,st students and there are also scholarship available for the students
