Techno India University is better than UEM Kolkata. Techno India band is recognized nationally and internationally due to its huge alumni base. It also offers better placements. Top MNCs such as Microsoft, Intel Corporation, Hitachi, SAP Labs, etc. visit the campus placements. Techno India University placement has an average CTC of 5 LPA.

I have a few friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology and based on what I heard from them, I will suggest you to look for other options. Having a college campus in Kolkata will be advantageous for you.
You can get IT in Techno India salt-lake main campus. If you don’t get Techno you can go for CSE in B.P. Poddar, RCC or St. Thomas, or any other college. Follow previous year trends of opening and closing ranks of the college and make a choice accordingly.
Choosing the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata can be risky because it is newly established. Even though it is under the banner of IEM, you can’t be certain about placements. Going by the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 4 LPA.
