NEET UG 2026 New Exam Date: Re-test After Cancellation, CBI Probe

The NEET UG 2026 exam, which was conducted on May 3rd 2026, has now been officially cancelled by NTA. An official notification was published on May 12 by NTA on the official X platform and on the NEET official website. This decision comes after the alleged paper leak of the NEET paper 2 days before the exam.

• The NTA is set to conduct a re-NEET 2026 across India, but the official date has not been released yet
• The new NEET 2026 exam date will be announced in the coming days on the official website neet.nta.nic.in.
• Students do not need to register for the exam again; existing candidate details that are already available will be used for the RE-NEET.
• Not only do you not have to pay for the NEET application fee for the re-test, but NTA will also refund your already paid application fee.
• NEET admit cards will be freshly issued for all the candidates.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled: What Happened?

NEET UG 2026 was cancelled by NTA with the approval of the Government of India on May 12th 2026. This decision came after looking into the paper leak possibility before the exam. Now the investigation is happening under a CBI probe regarding the “paper leak.”

• Special Operations Group (SOG) confirmed that the question paper was circulated in Rajasthan before the exam began. The leak was traced to a person from Haryana who received it from Nashik.
• So far Investigation revealed links between Telegram groups, coaching classes, and digital and financial transactions to the NEET paper leak.
• NTA stated that it will provide full cooperation with the CBI Investigation.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: What Candidates Should Know

All candidates who appeared for the NEET exam on May 3rd 2026 are eligible to appear for the NEET re-test. The exact exam dates are yet to be announced. Exam dates will be announced on the official NEET website.

As of now, it remains unclear if NEET candidates who registered but were absent on May 3rd can retake the exam or not.

• NTA will publish fresh admit cards for all the students; you will receive the scheduled dates through the official websites soon.
• Exam centres that are already chosen stay the same. No changes are required.
• NTA announced that the exam fee paid for ‌ May 3rd exam will be refunded to candidates.
• Since the NEET 2026 syllabus and exam format have not changed, candidates should use this extra time for revision and practice from last year's NEET UG question paper.
