NEET Dress Code for Male 2026 NTA

For NEET 2026, the dress code for male and female candidates has been released in the information bulletin on the official website of NTA neet.nta.nic.in.

The dress code for male candidates is light-coloured half-sleeve shirts with simple trousers/ pants.
Male candidates can also wear simple light-coloured T-shirts.
Candidates are advised to avoid wearing trousers/ pants with too many pockets.

Candidates can wear their powered spectacles if they have issues related with vision.
Students are also allowed to wear braces if they have been continuing the dental procedure before the exam.
Students with hearing issues can also wear their hearing aid.
Any written work on the body is not allowed; however, if a student has a permanent tattoo, he/ she is allowed, but with more security checks.
Any medicine that is to be taken on a regulatory basis or in case of emergency due to the student’s physical condition is allowed inside the exam hall.

Ans. Yes. As per the NTA guidelines, students are advised to lose fitted cotton clothes to avoid the heat irritation due to summer and ensure a clean and neat appearance of the students for giving the exam.

Ans. Yes. Jean pants are allowed in NEET, but if they are tight and have heavy prints, patterns, pockets or any other accessory, then it should be avoided. However, on an advisory note, it is recommended that both male and female candidates wear either trackpants or normal pants to avoid severe security check at the last moment before the exam.

NEET 2026 Prohibited Items

Students are prohibited from getting certain materials inside the exam centre.

Students are not permitted to take their geometry/ pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale , writing pad, pen drives, erasers, log table, electronic pen or scanner inside the examination centre.
Students are not allowed to take any devices or gadgets like mobile phones, tabs, bluetooth, earphones, microphone, pager, microchip, health band, etc. inside the centre.
Students must also avoid carrying wallets, handbag, camera to the exam hall.
Any metallic item like gold ornaments, silver jewellery, etc. should be avoided.
Packed or opened food items and water bottles are also not permitted inside the exam centres.

Measures to be taken by students wearing Religious/ Customary Dress

For students wearing any customary clothing or religious dress, there are certain steps to be done to avoid confusion during the exam date and time.

Religious or customary dress typically refers to burkhas, turbans, or any other religious or customary attire that an individual refrains to remove, in accordance with his/ her religion or customs.
Students who will be following their customary or religious clothing should mention it, while they are filling the application form in the specific space allotted for it.
The specificity of their religious attire or customary dress will henceforth be mentioned in the admit card as well.
The respective students are also advised to be present in the exam centre befire an hour to make sure they go through proper checking and avoid last minute confusion.

There are certain suggestions that students should follow to avoid dress code related confusions.

Make sure you remove all your ornaments like gold, silver, diamond, platinum, etc., so that you avoid metal detection tests as they are not permitted inside the centre.
Wear simple light-coloured shirts/ T-shirts preferable in cotton to avoid heat irritation.
Keep the bottoms also simple by wearing trackpants, trousers or pants with no pockets, or maybe one or two, but not more than that.
You must ensure that both you top and bottom clothing has zero metal accessories or heavy buttons as it is not permitted
Avoid wearing shoes or high booted sandals. Just wear normal flat sandals, slippers, or flip flops.
Visit the exam centre at least an hour or a half before the exam, so that you can go through all the checking before and be in a peaceful mindset before giving the exam.
