- Syllabus structure is a bit old school. Like too many things to finish it in less that 6 months.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The university is considered as one of the best choice for scholars who wants to get knowledge from the best of the best professors and lecturers out there. The professors use even extra classes as much as students need to get them properly ready for the semester exams. They do take internal exams around 1 month before the main exam. It holds 10 point that is texted through MCQ. While another 10 marks is given as per the attendance percentage.

- The emphasis on education and discipline
- The faculty is amazing, with exceptional guidance and appreciation
Dislikes
- The infrastructure could have been better. Also understandable given the history of the college, although renovated rigoursly still needs better facilities.
- The attendance is compulsory, thus making it harder for students to pursue anything else other than their degree.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course syllabus covers wide aspects of English literature. Thus, making it easier for students to access the academia in future. The teaching methods are very school-ish often making it hard for students to adjust and the teaching is rigorous and requires continuous preparation from the students. The timings of the exams can make ot hard for students to cope up, as the exams always seems to happen back to back. Thus, the students are in constant pressure of studying.

- The college offers a lot of placement opportunities

- The canteen is a bit on the expensive side.
- The office times are not always punctual
Course Curriculum Overview:
The college has a lot of co curriculum opportunities and also has new computers for spoken and verbal co curriculum. The teachers are really nice and helpful and the exams are pretty decent and doable.

- The professors are very competent . They are extremely knowledgeable.
- The canteen is great. They have various types of foods, all are pretty affordable.
Dislikes
- They finish a semester in 3 months. We don't get enough time to study thoroughly.
- Some professors are not punctual. We also have very inconsistent class timings.
Course Curriculum Overview:
I love literature that's why I took up this course. This course is not limited to just literature, we also learn about history, philosophy, psychology and linguistics. This course has so much potential but all are wasted as nobody teaches us how to apply it in real life. There are no active journals in the department that we could publish our papers in. Hardly any seminars. We are not required to write a thesis of any kind. We are just not taught how to go forward with this. Our classrooms are big but that doesn't mean we would all sit in the same classroom in 40° C. We have separate sections but are told to sit in the same room. We also could use projectors. Semesters are reduced to trimesters. No time to study. And they don't want to give you marks, the highest cgpa you can get is 7.

Course Curriculum Overview:
Course is at par with the industry standard and the curriculum is set by Calcutta University. Course is well co-ordinated and attendance is also strictly maintained. There is access to a language lab which offers multimedia opportunities for a wholistic education.

- Extremely Interactive cultural events in campus.
- Faculty/Professors are always available for any kind of assistance
Dislikes
- No decent canteen in campus. Food is nowhere near.
- Very difficult commute. Long walk from the nearest metro.
Placement Experience:
There were no official placements notices for our department as we are Literature students. But for others they provide good placements with good packages. For us the college provides NET and other government examinations classes for the aspirants.
Likes
- I liked the syllabus and definitely the faculty. The faculty is probably one of the best undoubtedly. The syllabus gives a lot of exposure which would actually benefit students.
- I also liked the exposure which the syllabus of English Literature provides. It really becomes helpful if you are serious about sitting for NET. Significantly helps students who are interested to sit and crack NET
Dislikes
- The marking system is very harsh. Calcutta University is very strict and construct with marks. This disturbed me quite a lot.
- You have to be really focused on your academics and can barely manage time for other activities whatsoever. The internship scarcity really kills one's brain.
Course Curriculum Overview:
I always loved English and literature, so the faculty and University really provided me with that effeciency with great effectiveness which influences me still to further my career in English . The difficulty is to be taken with care and seriousness. It is not at all an easy course as most people think it is. Literature in English is tough. You have to remain connected with various kind of books and read tons of articles and journals and research papers for good answers. Also take the notes of your lecture very well else it will affect your marks.

- The wonderfully skilled faculty of our department
- The prestigious central library that holds a heritage
Dislikes
- Behaviour of a few staffs and teachers, the old and back dated mentality.
- Certain restrictions like before entering the premises one has to show id card unlike Jadavpur University which has no such restrictions
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course curriculum is unfortunately a little back dated. Calcutta University hasn't made any significant changes to its linguistic syllabus. Many important fields are not taught. Like in our syllabus we haven't learnt a thing about Computational Linguistics, and Acoustic phonetics. All because of lack of professors who are expert in such fields. And also because of lack of recruitments. Overall the course is good the only major thing it lacks is computational linguistics.

- Traditional method of teaching like long long lectures mostly.
- Politics everywhere. And students are frequently asked to take part in political camps.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course had the masters paper and one general paper of your choice like political science, education, philosophy, environmental science. And one DSE paper too like gender studies, refugee studies and peace studies. The course was really interesting it mainly focuses on the south and south east Asian countries. Each and every were taught by making class room power point presentation with lots of study materials and references The professors were teaching bilingually. It was a bit tough in beginning but the more time passed the more we got acquainted with the subject and started liking it .

- The behavior of the college staff is very good along with the teachers.
- The campus is huge, along with a lot of amenities such as AC & smart classrooms, playgrounds, library, auditorium etc.
Dislikes
- There is a reason to worry as there are a lot of thieves around that area.
- The nearby places of the college are not very safe, especially for women to travel at night.

I chose this course because I had a keen interest in this subject. The faculty was very good, including the staff members and the academic teachers as well. The teachers were highly qualified and helped a lot in their studies. The exams were held timely under the supervision of the college staff members.
