- The infrastructure could have been better. Also understandable given the history of the college, although renovated rigoursly still needs better facilities.
- The attendance is compulsory, thus making it harder for students to pursue anything else other than their degree.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course syllabus covers wide aspects of English literature. Thus, making it easier for students to access the academia in future. The teaching methods are very school-ish often making it hard for students to adjust and the teaching is rigorous and requires continuous preparation from the students. The timings of the exams can make ot hard for students to cope up, as the exams always seems to happen back to back. Thus, the students are in constant pressure of studying.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees ranges to somewhere above the one lakh rupees per year. As a two year course ( not for NEP curriculum) the fees ranges from approximately above two lakh rupees. The fees is collected online on quaterly basis. The students of Christian catholic and other financial backward students can easily available for concession as per request to the administration. The fees structure remains the same for most of the students of different categories unless applied for any rebate.
Campus Life
Since the College is established for over a century, it may not hold up a very modern high tech campus but over years it has successfully built it's infrastructure to cater to the demands of the students for their successful educational journey. The college features lots of societies catering to various fields making it a fun experience for students in the college to participate and manage various students throughout the year. The library boasts a great range of collection of books serving students from various departments.
Admission
The admission is solely based on entrance exams conducted by the college in offline mode. I primarily chose this college for being my families Alma Mater, the college is highly prestigious and catered successful personality in various fields. The success of the college made me want to do both my undergraduate and postgraduate from the same institution. The most important part of the college is it's faculty, with excellent faculty.
Faculty
The college is autonomous, thus even if it's registered under Calcutta University, the syllabus is maintained by the college. The faculty is exceptional with everyone trying their best to support and guide the students to their best of abilities in the academic field. The college adhers to a semester based examination structure where each semester is marked by an internal examination called Continuous Internal Assessment ( CIA) followed by end semester examinations. The examinations are fairly difficult, but the professor guide to students providing all the materials and resources required for the course. The fail percentage of the students are fairly low, with given chance to clear their papers over time. The college is clearly famous for its English and Commerce faculties. The other faculties are slowly catching up to the high standards set by the college. All the departments have best of faculties for the students.
