Remarks
Every university has its positive and negative factors that guide is notions in the long run. The sprawling camus is well decorated. The E.M bower tower, near sinthi more is the main campus of the university. The university offers many facilities to the students and it maintains the decor of the campus with high seriousness. However because of it's strict rule related attendance percentage, the students often miss out from major internship opportunities. Every department has its own story to tell, both positive and negative.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course content needs to be revised and upgraded to meet the industry requirements and therefore to prepare the students to march out for as ready professionals. It needs to include more technical based contents. The labs are equipped with MAC computers and funded By RUSA.
Placement Experience
Since it the department places higher importance to attendance percentage, it's quite difficult to opt for internships. It doesn't guarantee or provide placement opportunities practically but when nedia organizations approach the university, the department places the offer/information to the students.
College Events
Being a reputed university, it almost spreads its hand to almost every section of celebratory themes. Be it related to sports, annual function, excursion, basanta utsav(Holi) it celebrates all type of events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite feasible. Since it is a government funded university and an autonomous institute, the fee structure is quite affordable. For eg. Fee structure for the M.A Journalism and Mass Communication course is 30, 000 approx. Presence of government concession is also available.
Fees and Financial Aid
Government scholarships are available for meritorious students. Kanyashree, Swami Vivekananda Scholarship are to name a few. The university has a separate department to assist regarding this. Many students get benefited from this. Though the process is a bit long and complicated to some extent, still many students gets help from this.
Campus Life
The university is secular and respects all the rights given to the students to maintain the equilibrium of the university ambience. The presence of political activities are quite vivid. The university hold almost equal gender ratio. It has a wide range of subjects to offer. The university doesn't take backward steps to celebrate any events. It has 4 canteens and 1 health clinic to cater the health need of the students. The university accommodates and admits students from foreign land as well.
Alumni/Alumna
The university has it alumni section who remain in touch with the students union and other students. Their is a good vibe of fraternity and respect from both ends. There is a presence of good relation between seniors and juniors.
Admission
An entrace exam was conducted followed by an interview and merit list results. Based on that applicants were selected. I had planned to persue this course since I was interested in the media sector. Particularly the production and post production areas. The admission process as mentioned above, the written exams are based on aptitude, current affairs, essay, and related to the subject. The interview is conducted only for those who clear the written part.
Faculty
The faculty members are highly experienced and top notch. But the department needs to appoint more teachers. With inclusion of more technical contents, teachers with adequate knowledge of such sphere needs to be appointed.
