Presidency University Kolkata PG Fee Structure 2025-26 has been released. The total academic fee is ₹ 6,180 .

Presidency University Kolkata was established in 1817 and is recognised as an Institution of National Eminence by UGC. After functioning as a leading constituent college under Calcutta University for over a hundred years, the institution was established as a university in July 2010. Presidency University is accredited by NAAC with "A" Grade. The university has 17 departments that offers UG, PG and PhD programs in Arts and Science specialisations. Admission to all the courses offered by the Presidency University are based on marks scored in entrance examination or merit in the last qualifying exam.

Presidency University Kolkata Admission

Admission at Presidency University Kolkata is based on entrance exams conducted by WBJEE like PUBDET for UG admission 2024 and PUMDET for PG admission 2024. Ph.D. Entrance Test is conducted within the university level for Doctoral course admission. Students must have a bachelor’s degree for PG admissions and master’s degree for research-level doctoral admission. Scoring a certain cut off will seal the admissions to the various courses offered here.

Candidates opting for UG Programme will fill the application form of PUBDET and those opting for PG Programme will fill the PUMDET entrance exam application form.

Amazing life of college

Likes

In our university, no ragging is happened and seniors are also very gentle and helpful. Every student can give their opinion without any hesitation or without fear.There is a very strong bonding in the seniors and juniors.
Library faculty is very important.In our university there are two library, central and for arts. Both are standard. Students get a lot information from there. And also carry books from library. Reading area is also there.
Huge play ground in the middle of the university. Lots of playing option is there. And many tournaments will happen. Many fest and occasion will celebrate.

Dislikes

I think science faculty have to improve more.Because sometime students raise their voice for the lab features. So it's need to carefully handle by the higher authority of the university.
University is the great experience of the students. So everyone must be participate in the events.
Everyone has own decision but though please stop to smoking openly which somehow bothered others

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

There are very good professors in my faculty. Because their teaching methods are ready very well and standard. Choosing my study about English it's totally worth it. Teaching skills, class rooms, and also the nature is very good for making your concentration. I think just little bit of change need in this course curriculum. Like screen presentation etc. Exam rules are totally depends on the authority.

What are the internship opportunities in the campus?

Becoming a ug student I have no idea about internships. But I heard that there are also internship opportunities available in our university. I think it's very good thing for the students. They can apply for internship in the university.

Fees of the course per semester

I have to pay approx 1100 for per semester. From the total amount nine hundred is for tution fees and two hundred is for examination fees. Becoming a art student there is no lab fees. There is no change in course fees for any category.

Various events and infrastructure of the campus

Many fest and annual function will happen. Students can enjoy themselves.Many play tournament also held occcationally.There are two library and both are very helpful for students.books and journals both are available.Classrooms are highly maintained.There are many extracurricular activities and sports in the campus.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

Every faculty is very good.And their relation with the students is really very fine. If any one in trouble, faculty gives response quickly and help them.Personally I love my faculty because I am attached with it more than other facilities. So , I can gave opinion about it .Exam will held samester wise. How the exam paper's it's totally depends on the authority basically.

What is the admission process of the campus?

I don't applied for other colleges or universities. I gave PUBDET and get a chance to study in presidency. For it I don't feel any regret. In the university admission process is not so difficult. There are some basic rules for admission. Qualifying the PUBDET exam to admission. There are limited seat and also for reservation category. Three rounds are held for admission. Total experience of my admission in university is quite good.

Night Life

At the night, university looks pretty good. Students gossip on the ground.Campus looks very beautiful.After 6pm, campus is off for the students basically.Famous coffie house is present opposite of the college. It's very popular in Kolkata. I think this area is safe in night.

More than a campus: The Presidency University experience

The university is well-maintained. The campus is aesthetically pleasing. There are so many clubs to engage the students outside the curriculum of the syllabus and helps in the holistic development of the students.

I had applied to other colleges under CU, got selected and did get admitted to Lady Brabourne College but I chose Presidency Univeristy over other colleges because of its rich legacy in the history of SouthAsia. Presidency University which was formerly known as the Hindu College has a decorated list of alumni, with the names of Satyajit Ray, Abhijit Banerjee, Amartya Sen, Swami Vivekananda, Jyoti Basu, Jadunath Sarkar, R.C. Majumdar and so on. There is an entrance exam held, PUBDET for admission in the UG courses while for the PG courses PUMDET exam is available. The eligibility for UG courses are 12th pass with an aggregate of 75% minimum required for the board exams. The admission process takes place smoothly, without any hassle as the seniors help the students in case of a query and are really helpful in making the students understand the nuances of the admission process.

I've chosen this university for it's groundbreaking background. Every course has its theoretical and practical aspect which attracts me and several students. No, haven't gotten any rejection from the colleges so far.i wanted to study here and got in here. For BA and MA there are several entrance exam. PUBDET for undergraduation and PUMDET for postgraduation both are conducted by WBJEE. Cutoff depends on the performance and the ratio of students. For further information one can go through the WBJEE website and Presidency University website as well. After one get selected there's a counselling round which is done by the university and then one gets into the program

PRESIDENCY: THE DREAM LIFE

Admission:

I have applied to other colleges also, like Asutosh, Xaviers , Bravon and got chances in all. But all of them have higher fees than Prsidency and poor(though there are few good faculties) faculty than presi. In all presidency seems the best combo for me, in terms of fees, education,campus life.

As for the girls to boys ratio, I don't have the precise statistics .
Though my overall experience is a mix of highs and lows. I appreciated how the mentors guided me and helped me engage in different campus events. The faculty in Economics Department were knowledgeable , though their teaching styles varied.

Dislikes

On the flip side, I felt that there must be an improvement in the infrastructure particularly the labs and the library space.
Sports and others activities are not given chances. The curriculum felt outdated and lacked new innovations and activities that would allow students to engage in other than academics

Admission:

I had applied to Delhi Universities, Lady Brabourne, Jadavpur University, Visva Bharati University and Presidency University. I got selected in all the given universities except Delhi Universities. I chose Presidency University amongst all of the colleges due to its prestige alumni and reputaution . Due to top cutoffs , I could not pass the Delhi University entrance exam.The admission process of my college is thorugh merit and entrance exams based.

Admission:

I had applied to and got confirmation from Xaviers College and Jadavpur University. I chose to go to Presidency Due to to its heritage and strong economics department and also due to its affordability. There is a competitive peer group and the location is a plus point. The eligibility reuires minimum of 60% in 10+2 for General category and 55% for SC/OBC/ST/PWD Maths has to be a mandatory subject ( for B,Sc Economics) THey accept admission through PUBDET though mine was direct admission due to COVID 19. The process of admission is to register for PUBDET then give the xam and then wait for merit list and finally if selected go for document verification. The cutoff ranges usually from 150 - 250.

Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

Dirty politics in campus: The active politics often disturb regular studies of University

Admission:

1. The reason to choose Presidency University: There are mainly three reason to choose this University. Firstly, it is one of the Autonomuous university in the state. The teachers who teach the course also set the exam question paper, resulting better evaluation of the subject. Secondly, the course work is much more advance than other universities. They offer masters level courses at bachelors level. Also, since there are masters and PhD students in the department, interacting with them provides a lot of insight and practical experience about the subject. Finally, the infrasturce provided by University at afforable price is unbelivable. They provide free hostel to the needy students. And, for girls there is free shuttle service. The other colleges in the state do not provide such facility at all. 2. Other colleges: Apart from that I have applied for admission at Bethune college. But since Presidency University conducts a seprate exam at February and they usually complete the admission at the month of June and I got admitted in the counselling itself, I did not appear for counselling at Bethune college. Since I have got the best possible option at the very begining, I did not look for any other options available. 3. Application process: Presidency University do not conduct entrance test on their own, it is conducted by West Bengal Joint Board and examination is called PUBDET (for Bachelors) and PUMDET (for Masters). You have to keep an eye on the official website for any update on these exam. They usually conduct exam in the month of April or May but the application begins at January or February. The counselling would be conducted by the Joint Board. The application fee is Rs. 500 and if you are selected for counselling, you have to pay Rs. 500 to appear for the counselling. At Presidency University, Kolkata, eligibility for B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology requires students to have studied Psychology, Biology, or Mathematics at the 10+2 level. Admission to Presidency University, Kolkata varies by program:

Undergraduate (UG) Courses: Admission is based on the Presidency University Bachelor’s Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET) conducted by WBJEEB. So, an entrance exam is compulsory for UG admissions.
Postgraduate (PG) Courses: Admission is through the Presidency University Master’s Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) conducted by WBJEEB. So, an entrance exam is compulsory for PG admissions.
PhD Admissions: Typically based on an entrance test and interview. Candidates with valid NET/SET/GATE/JRF scores may be exempted.

In terms of rankings Presidency University, Kolkata has been placed at 151^st position by NIRF whereas Presidency University Bangalore has not got such ranking. Presidency University Kolkata has highest placement package INR 13 LPA whereas Presidency University has highest package of INR 12 LPA. The average package of Presidency Kolkata is also better INR 7 LPA whereas Presidency Bangalore has only 5 LPA average package.
