Remarks

The syllabus of the corse is good. The environment of the university is quite soothing and peaceful. Students get many facilities here, such as sports, 4 canteens, pretty big play ground, helpful student union. Cultural programmes are very famous here, specially 'Basanta Utsav'.

Course Curriculum Overview

0.5

The syllabus is quite good, specially the syllabus of electronic media. But if it is compared with other institutions, it is quite backdated and will be of no use. No facility of internship. And no industrial exposure. Syllabus is mostly theory based which is good for cracking NET, but is of no use in real world. Specialization paper in the syllabus has 4 options. Which are: 1. Cultural Communication 2. Development Communication 3. International Relations 4. Sports Journalism But sadly they can only provide cultural and development communication. In 4th Semester for the OEC paper, the syllabus has two options. That is Media Law and Media Management. But they can only provide Media Law. Teaching faculty strength is very low. Only two permanent teachers are there and 7-8 guest lecturers. The assistant professors are very rude and moody. They are always in unapproachable zone. Such behavior from professors are not expected at all. Current (2020) HOD hardly care about students. He hardly listen to students. He behaves very rude. He is a very busy man, who hardly takes classes. Another assistant professor is very punctual, but a bit rude, yet helpful when approached correctly. But the current (Year 2020) HOD is worst of a kind. The person is too indifferent to handle. Some says the person has a nature of marking students, basically the person holds a vindictive nature. The HOD does not take any responsibility of students if they are facing any problem. The person just walks away. Guest lecturers are very friendly and helpful. Students are supposed to maintain 75% attendance. The teaching style is not upgraded, it is boring. Some faculties do not cover syllabus. If there some practical works that need practice, they just explain that orally. But some teachers do teach very well and help students.

Placement Experience

0.5

No opportunity of placement. They don't arrange any placement or internships. No real world industrial exposure. Students are only fed some typical, theoretical syllabus in a practical based subject like Mass Communication and Videography.

College Events

4

Campus life is enjoyable. It is a peaceful campus. Cultural programmes are held frequently by different departments. Annual programme of the university is also organized every year by students' union. 'Pachishe Baisakh' is celebrated hugely. Most famous cultural programme of the campus is 'Basanta Utsav' It is a very vibrant festival. People wait for this programme for whole year.

Campus Life

1

Campus has both indoor and outdoor sport facilities. It also organize tournament for sports enthusiasts. Cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, carrom etc sports can be played. Library and wifi facility is good. Some computers of mass comm labs are faulty. Canteen facility is quite good. Four or five canteens are there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So, we read great authors like Mulvey, Kafka, Eliot, Plath, Toni Morisson amongst others. The works provided a deep insight on the working of the world, how brutal and harsh the reality is and how we can overcome these. The course helped the students in the humanitarian understanding of human and emotions which I guess is lacking in today's world. The exams were held after 3-4 months for the semester

Presidency University, Master of Arts [MA] (Political Science)
Reviewed on Jan 12, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

This university has a widespread name for generations and so the courses taught here must be for not only students' academic excellence but also for their personality building. My course 'Political Science' has created my kin interest to study the subject in later life and when it comes with the name of Presidency University, it always offers better prospects for students. The faculties are very co-operative, responsible and student friendly except few in our particular department. The faculty-student ratio is 3:50. Most of the faculties believe in teaching in unconventional method, so they organize experimental modes for Internal assessment, exams and teaching courses. However the university has its biggest problem hidden in its untimely routine of completing syllabus and conducting exams or internals. Term exams are conducted just before the exams which is inconvenient, however the exams in our department are not too difficult to pass. The faculties give pass marks to all students.
