About NBU
The University of North Bengal (UNB), Darjeeling, commonly known as North Bengal University (NBU) was established by an act of 1962 by the Legislature of West Bengal. NBU comprises two campuses situated at Raja Rammohunpur near Siliguri and at Danguajhar in Jalpaiguri.
It currently provides PG and Doctorate programs in 6 North Bengal districts and the neighboring state of Sikkim. NBU offers its courses through 64 Affiliated Colleges including 2 constituent colleges in many districts of its zone. NBU itself conducts entrance exams for various disciplines while for MBA admission, it accepts CMAT.

North Bengal University Admission
Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can submit their application form by visiting the official website of the university. The students must submit the form in online mode only. The university has reserved 60% seats in PG programs for the students belonging to the University of North Bengal and the remaining 40% seats are available for students from other universities. The selection procedure for each course varies from each other as per the requirement. Mentioned below is a brief about the same:
- Admission to BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed and LL.B courses are granted on the basis of merit-list announced by the university as per their last qualifying examination.
- For MA. MSc, MCA, M.Li.Sc and LL.M admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by viva-voce conducted by the university.
- For MBA, the candidate must have a valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ WBJEMAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI.

North Bengal University Distance Education
The University of North Bengal, through the Directorate of Distance Education, provides quality Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. In PG level, seven specializations namely, M.A. in English, Bengali, Nepali, Philosophy, Political Science and History and M.Sc. in Mathematics to students of any location and age in the comfort of their home. UG courses like B.A. and B.Com are also provided by the Directorate of Distance Education, NBU from the commencement of this session.

North Bengal University Scholarships
The University of North Bengal looks after the financial needs of students coming from poor financial backgrounds. It offers various scholarships and freeships to deserving and meritorious students under various categories. The university releases separate notification inviting applications from the students. The students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Caste should submit the scholarship form in the university.
North Bengal University Placement
The University of North Bengal provides internship and placement assistance through its central Training & Placement (T&P) Cell which continuously coordinates with the various elite and renowned industries and organizations for placement of the students. It has already successfully placed a percentage of students in Industry. It actively obtains feedback from organizations and conveys it to respective departments which, in turn, trains students accordingly, thereby increasing their employability.

North Bengal University Facilities
Following are some of the facilities offered by the university to cater to the needs of the students:
- library: There is a rich collection of books, journals, magazines, reference books, project theses to meet the academic and research needs of the students. The library at the University of North Bengal is also a member of the UGC INFONET Consortium for online subscriptions of journals.
- Hostels: There are a total of 11 hostels on the campus that accommodates more than 1000 students including research scholars. The university also offers hostel facilities to international students.
- Health Centre: To look after the health of the students, the university offers free medical aid to students.

Ques. What is the medium of instruction at North Bengal University?
Ans. The medium of instruction and examination is only in English at North Bengal University. There is no regional or state language dominance in the education system.
Ques. Are any scholarships offered at North Bengal University?
Ans. Yes, free and half-free studentship are awarded based on applications. Only SC/ST, OBC, PwD students are eligible and they are required to submit their scholarship forms for the academic year max by February for processing scholarship.
Ques. What are the attendance rules for appearing for examination at North Bengal University?
Ans. All students are required to maintain at least 50% attendance in the first seven days of enrollment. Failing which, admission would be cancelled by the university. It is mandatory to attend 75% of regular classes including tutorials in order to sit for final exams conducted by the university.
Ques. Is it possible to join North Bengal University from any other university?
Ans. Yes, those applicants who wish to transfer their admission from their current university to North Bengal University, can submit a migration certificate and a fee of INR 250 as part of registration. This fee must be paid within one month of admission at University of North Bengal.

Ans. A processing fee of INR 100 for general candidates and INR 50 for SC/ST/OBC students of West Bengal state only and BPL/PwD candidates only on production of relevant certificates is charged for admission applications.

I choose University of North Bengal because it is a home University as well as it is one kind of government University. The fees is very much less than the other private colleges or universities. In the private institutions the fees for M. Pharmacy is starts from 3.9 lakhs whereas the fees in North Bengal University is less than 2 lakhs. The University authority organises one admission test and one interview for admission. Then a number is calculated by evaluating the 10+2 marks, GPAT score, bachelor of pharmacy marks, admission test and the interview. Based on this, a merit list is published.

So I want to admit in Siliguri college but when I visit this college i found this college is quite good and looks gorgeous compared to other colleges i visit. And when I joined this the only college which has NAC garde A and i head in this college lab base knowledge is very good that's why I joined. You need apply in this college after 12th in college website. No minimum marks

- Basic amenities like Computer Lab and Library is well maintained

- Lack of dustbins or proper disposal area
- The department of law is situated just beside a dumpyard. Foul smell as soon as you leave the campus

I have given Entrance Exams for Jamia Milliah University as well as Aligarh Muslim University for studying Law. I was not well prepared for those examinations hence couldn't crack those. I was left with only one viable option which was to opt NBU.

- No ragging, there is a anti-ragging cell/unit in our college

- Very old infrastructure of the old building
- New cycle parking areas which were meant to be made are left undone

So, I applied to a lot of colleges and also got accepted everywhere. But I wanted to study B.Sc. in Economics (Honours) , and the other colleges providing this particular course in our city doesn't have sufficient/required staff , so I got admitted here in Ananda Chandra College, Jalpaiguri. The admission pricess is simple they take students based on their 12(10+2) results.

- The college campus is full of trees and the roads are clean.
- The teachers are very helpful and guide the students very well

- The washrooms and toilets are not so much clean.
- Some teachers and staff's behaviour is very bad.
Admission:
I applied for Siliguri college, Darjeeling college, Kurseong college and I get the chance of admission in these colleges. But I choose ac college over the other colleges because the college is very renowned and my department the department of botany have produced many university toppers. The admission process is simple. At first you have to apply through wbcap.com website and give top priority to ac college and after that if you get chance in the merit list, you will be able to get admitted in this college. The merit point is calculated by your top 4 scored subjects in 12th boards.

1. I applied in many colleges but the only reason I didn't admission on those colleges are the distance. Those colleges are long away from my house . 2. No no I didn't get rejection from any colleges just for the distance from my house 3. In this college if you want to admitted you have only need apply via college website on the 12th exam result merit base

I applied to St. Johns and St. Martha's for nursing but I couldnot appear for the interview due to some personal issue. The admission process is pretty easy but lengthy , one needs to have atleast a qualifying % of above 65%

The admission process in my time was very simple .i tried in different government colleges but could've get into my preferred course ie economics hons the last option was this college as it was s private college though i dont regret it cause the quality according to amount is reasonable

I applied for a government college here and also I got my name in the list but didn't join as it was my second option and the college I'm doing right now was my first option so as i got my name in the list so I didn't join or think of joining anywhere else

Admission to BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed and LL.B courses is granted on the basis of merit-list published by the university with respect to candidates’ marks in their last qualifying examination. MA. M.Sc, MCA, M.Li.Sc and LL.M admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by viva-voce conducted by the university. For PG courses, 60% seats of the total are reserved for the candidates who have completed their UG degree from NBU while 40% are for the candidates belonging to the other universities. A valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ WBJEMAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI is required for MBA program. For M.Phil and Ph.D. courses, the candidates have to qualify in an entrance test and interview conducted by NBU. Printout of the online submitted application form or proof of payment of Admission fee is required to be submitted to the University at the time of verification. However, the candidates should retain a copy of the said documents for their own record.
No, University of North Bengal, Darjeeling does not offer the geography honours course. It offers the Master of Arts [MA] (Geography), and Master of Arts [MA] (Applied Geography).
