Candidates are selected based on their eligibility criteria and document verification.
How to apply for Calcutta University B.A?
- Download the application form from the official website on https://www.caluniv.ac.in/.
- Click on B.A Application form.
- Download and fill in all the necessary details, this includes both personal and academic details.
- Finally, send the filled in application form along with the necessary documents.
Documents to be sent along with the application form are:
- Bank Challan or online payment receipt
- Original School leaving Certificate from the Principal / Head of the School / last attended.
- Fitness Medical certificate
- Self-attested copies of 10th and 12th mark sheets.
- Self-attested copy of the Birth certificate
- Caste certificate (if applicable).
- Domicile Certificate.
- Two copies of passport size color photographs
- Self-attested photocopy of aadhar card

Calcutta University B.A Course Details
- The B.A course at Calcutta University consists of 6 semesters (3 years)
- In B.A. Honors program a student shall have to study 14 Core courses of the Honours Subject as specified for each of the 6 semesters.
- In B.A. general program a student shall have to study 4 Core Courses of which 2 subjects can be chosen
- The dissertation project is a course to attain knowledge about a real-life situation. Such a project will carry 6 credits.
- The B.A program will consist of the Skill Enhancement Program and the Ability Enhancement Compulsory Program. The Skill Enhancement Program is designed to increase the students’ competencies and value-based knowledge. The Ability Enhancement Compulsory Program is compulsory and leads to knowledge enhancement.
- For the B. A course the total theory course is 26 and the total credit is 96. The total practical course is 22 and the credit score is 44.
- Each semester will consist of at least 15-18 weeks of academic work.
The total duration of the B.A course is 3 years which is divided into 6 semesters. The maximum time to complete the course is 5 years. If the candidate is not able to clear the exams in 5 years, then the enrollment will be canceled.
Course Evaluation
The Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) follows a 10 point grading system. The grades will be awarded as follows:

Semester Grade Point Average- This is the weighted average of the numerical value of all the papers in one given semester.
Cumulative Grade Point Average- This is the weighted average of all the 6 Semester Grade Point Average.
Attendance Requirement
A student should have a minimum of 75% of attendance to be eligible for the exams. If a student has at least 60% attendance, they are eligible for the exams provided they pay the prescribed fee. A student who has below 60% attendance will not be allowed to take the examinations and will have to pursue the same admission in the next year.

Examination Regulation
- The semester-end examinations for semester 1, semester 3, and semester 5 are held in December - January. The semester-end examination for semester 2, semester 4, and semester 6 will be held in June- July.
- The semester-end examination will amount to 80% of the total marks. The internal assessment marks will be for 20% of the marks.
- Marks will also be awarded to students based on their class attendance. For attending 60% or above classes, but less than 75% classes 6 marks will be awarded. Those who attend more than 75% but less than 90% of classes will be given 8 marks. Those students who attend 90% or more classes will be given 10 marks.

- Our college has a big campus there are three canteens with alot of facilities and reasonable prices foods.
- We have three libraries, every type of books are there like literature, space and cosmos, journalism etc.
Dislikes
- We have wifi connection but that is not a good network at all. A very poor connection
- We have lifts but those are only for professors. Why can't we use that?
Fees and Financial Aid:
This year I paid 4 thousand as semester fees. I'm a general category person that's why I didn't get any reservation seat but my other friends who are sc, st and OBC they got that. I don't go for any tuitions, I can study by myself. There are some scholarship available for students like vivekananda scholarship.

I paid 20000 for one year Tution fees 1000 per month, registration fees 2000, 5000, lab fees and other compulsory charged during the course is 4500 rupes I have 10000 rupes scholarship for financial aid

- People here are very friendly and helpful, and also we get to attend many interesting Seminars very month
- Most of the teachers are very friendly and helpful. They always helps us whenever we have some confusion regarding any topic
Dislikes
- Few teachers from English department are horrible , and very very very rude
- The bathroom isn't clean enough, the flush doesn't work most of the time

The yearly fees of my college is 2000 and 350 extra for exams. The campus is really good , teachers are also very helpful and they have a very fine method of teaching, the campus is very secure comparing to other universities, but the thing is the college doesn't provides job or internship

My name is souvik karmakar. I admitted rishi bankimchandra college in 2023 to persue B.A Hons. (History) degree. The admission fee of the course is for per sem - 3030/-. And if you have above 55% number in previous qualifying exam then you apply for a scholaship amount 12000/- for any caste. Now i'm in 2nd semester.

- I liked the collage campus .we have pretty big college.
- Have a very big ground.were all physical activities take place. I mean sports
Dislikes
- Teacher's don't take class seriously.only honors classes are regular. General classes are not taken seriously by teachers we have to call them from teachers room then they take class
- They don't treat students equally . Helping bengali student more than Hindi language students
Fees and Financial Aid:
We pay semester wise every 6 months we have to pay 2500 in the 1st semester after the it has increased to 4500 in 5th semester. they give as a bill 368 rs tuition fees ,120 gym etc. science and commerce students have extra charges for different classes like lab or practical classes etc. they provide us a loan upto 1.25 lakhs. It's up to you how much you need for your course.

- The library is very well maintained and contains a lot of books
- The professors are very friendly, helpful and regular
Dislikes
- The parking system is bit odd and messy. More than 20 cycles cannot be kept
- The number of computers in lab are less. There should be more computers in lab

The course fees for odd semesters are 5000 and the course fees for even semesters are 3000. The fees varies a bit based on the caste. There are various scholarships offered for example Vivekananda Scholarship, Kannyashree etc.

- I generally dislike the things which are the computer lab facilities
- The classes are not going on the regular basis

I generally pai around 7000 yearly and my total admission fees was 4540 including tuition and lab fees. Under sc category. I got a merit scholarship of 12000/- on the basis of my 12th examination marks. the fees of my batchmates are also same

I am from st Xavier's college autonomous Kolkata , my course is BA general ofcourse compared to the other departments ny yearly fee is affordable so there are 2 installments for each sem which you need to fill before the mid term and the other one before the end sem . My total fees is 1. 6 lac If you are a outsider than ofcourse there is a hostel of the college 60000 for 3 months Depends on the facilities you want and on the sharing of people. There are no scholarship as far as concern however there are specific Kota through which you can enter Yes the fees is increased in the last one year but it's not expensive ,there are very good facilities and better guidance from teachers and hods . Overall my experience is good Hope this on helps you to find your dream college

I took admission at Sammilanii Mahavidyalaya in 2021 .My college fees including all facilities are same for all caste there has no compromise.My college also organised many scholarship like Vivekananda aikyshree based on merits and the amount are 12000.Every students can take this opportunity.
