The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

CIVIL FROM THAPAR UNIVERSITY

this college have really nice infrastructure and well equipped labs and classes
most of the teachers are from iit and have done PhD in their respective courses and are really helpful
this college have nice opportunity for internship and have really nice placement in civil engineering as compared to colleges

Dislikes

I dislike that the reservation for Punjab students is 50% therefor there are very less students of other states
it will take some time to start understanding Punjabi as most of the people speak Punjabi

Placement Experience:

almost all students get placed through on-campus placements. students are eligible for placements from 3rd year. companies like Amazon,microsoft, TCL, etc. come for on-campus placements highest package is 55.4 lpa and the average is 11 to 10.8 lpa. my plan after getting my degree is to get a higher degree in civil structure engineering for civil avg is 6 to 7 LPA and the highest is 14 LPA

The best thing is connections and opportunites , even as a first i got on campus internship , there is always an event going on , good opportunites

Teachers are educated but they sometimes dont teach well

Placements are very good for cse branch , avg package going to 12 lpa above but not same for all branches , lower branches have less placements , but overall we can say that placements are average if compared to any other pvt college than placements are good.

Good Placement and Internship Opportunities. Over 200 companies visit campus for recruitment.
Amazing Infrastructure spread over 250 acres. Greenery and hangout places are also there along with sports ground. Lots of societies and clubs. Big events like Saturnalia.
Well trained faculties, almost all professors are Ph.D.

Dislikes

Class timings are from 8am-5:10pm, very hectic.
A lot of subjects per semester and a lot of evaluations.

Placement Experience:

Placements at College is very good. Over 200 companies come for placement. Average package is 11Lpa. Internship opportunities are also there. MNCs also come to college and recruitment process involves online assessment followed by interview

Campus is very beautiful. It is maintained very nicely and is kept very clean
Faculty is very understanding and qualified.

Dislikes

Food that is provided in the mess can be improved
Timings to go out from the college can be increased

From 3rd semester students becom eeligilbe for campus placements. More than 50 companies visisted our college. Highest package offered was 18LPA and average package was around 6LPA. 75%students were placed through campus only

The campus is very green. There's a lot of plants and trees.
The faculty is approachable and qualified to teach there.
The college culture and events are pretty good.

Dislikes

The location of the college is something everyone will hate.
It's near a small village and between kilometres of farms.
It's exactly in the middle of factories that pollute a lot.

Placement Experience:

From the 3rd semester, students become eligible for placements. The companies visiting are the big 4, Hyundai, Bajaj Finserv, etc. The highest package of the college stays at around 16 Lakh CTC while the average is around 6 Lakh CTC.

The university and college is just amazing

The faculty and teachers are so helpful .. u can call them message them and they are always ready to help
The apparatus, infrastructure ,hostels, mess food everything is so good
The placement services and opportunities provided there are unbelievable..the college placement rate is 99%

Dislikes

Fees structure is quite high and it is the only think I dislike about this university

Placement Experience:

Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft etc visited our college .and 96% students actually got placed during that time. I don't want to go to a company so I am a tutor now. The average package they provided was 12 lakhs per annum.

Overall thapar is a good college but you have to maintain your cgpa

I really liked about that college life is very good.
Other thing is campus infrastructure, which gives you a unacceptable experience.
Professors are very supporting for research projects

There are less negative points but still there are some
Mess food in some hostels are not good in taste. But have very nice quality

Placmets are good at thapar but due to some recession this year the number of placement of students is quite bad. Major companies come for mechatronics are Maruti Honeywell Volvo Anand. But placement for cse and electronics branch are good

I really liked the atmosphere of this college. It has a mixed group of people from all over the country which exposed you to a lot of different cultures as well.
The range of extra curricular activities and competitions provided here really gives various ideas and opportunities to students.
The study environment and the placement opportunities that this college offers are really amazing.

Dislikes

75% attendance criteria is not budged even in medical cases often.
Extreme climatic conditions often hinder our studies. As both the weathers are always at their extreme here.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in their last semester of college. In my course the average package is about 14 lacs, and the highest is 40 lacs. Companies that visit are Wipro, Aakash, HMEL etc.

Friendly teachers and staff who help the students with every problem.
Good atmosphere and vibe of the college making it a fun and energetic experience to go to college daily.
Easy accessibility to higher authorities and strictness towards inhumane acts like ragging

Dislikes

The extreme climatic conditions can sometimes make it irritating for the students to live without AC
The Library facility should be opened overnight.
Sometimes we can face difficulty in following the 75% attendance criteria.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite good but if you talk about the comprehensiveness of the course curriculum and it's relevance with respect to the course, I found some of the subjects in first year were not so relatable but from second year onwards the major focus is on core subjects only.

Likes

The quality of infrastructure,hostels. Mess food is good. Rooms are very good. Cleanliness everywhere
Quality of education. Studying in one of the premium institutes of india gives a self confidence boost.
Student life is never boring. There is always an event coming up and the hostel life with the friends you gonna make is amazing.

Dislikes

Student intake as there are approx 2500 students enrolling every year
Teacher student interaction as the class size in lectures is around 200 depending on the branch

Placement Experience:

Placements are very nice . The highest package this year was 55 lpa with average of 12lpa. Approx 300 companies visit every year with the placements of CSE department and ECE department ranking amongst the best whereas other branches placement is also good. Companies start visiting at the end of 6th semester

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
