Likes

Good Placement and Internship Opportunities. Over 200 companies visit campus for recruitment.
Amazing Infrastructure spread over 250 acres. Greenery and hangout places are also there along with sports ground. Lots of societies and clubs. Big events like Saturnalia.
Well trained faculties, almost all professors are Ph.D.

Dislikes

Class timings are from 8am-5:10pm, very hectic.
A lot of subjects per semester and a lot of evaluations.

Course Curriculum Overview

Computer Science course at Thapar covers all the important and necessary subjects required to be a software engineer like OOPS, DBMS, CN, OS. The course is divided into 8 semesters. Every year we have 2 semesters. We have mid semester exams at completion of half of the semester and end semester exams at the end of the semester.

Class Size: 70Course Fees: INR 600000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Many companies come for internships in Thapar. We have summer internship which is of 2 months after 3rd year in june and july. Also 6 months internship in 8th semester. Companies come to college and follow a detailed process.

Placement Experience

Placements at College is very good. Over 200 companies come for placement. Average package is 11Lpa. Internship opportunities are also there. MNCs also come to college and recruitment process involves online assessment followed by interview

Fees and Financial Aid

Hostel fees is around 50000 per semester, Hostels are good. They have mess , gym and Ac. Tuition fees is around 2-2.5L which is a bit expensive. TIET has different types of scholarships. EWS scholarship, Academic performance scholarship as well.

Campus Life

College life is very good. We have different clubs and socieities we can join. Big events like Saturnalia. Interhostel competitons are also there. We have hostel night every semester. We have sports and cultural events.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel fees is around 50000 per semester varies hostel to hostel. Hostel has AC facilites. Single seater 2 seater. There is hostel mess, gym , Groundetc. Mess offers breakfast lunch dinner. Hostel are on campus along with classes area.

Hostel Fee: INR 100000 per year

Admission

Admission is through PCM marks or JEE mains score. There is 50% reservation for Punjab Students who are residents of Punjab. There are multiple branches. Form appears on college website. There are exams throughout the semester.

Faculty

There are lot of professors for every subject and departments of each subject. Teachers are very interactive and majority professors are Ph D. There is also Dean of student affairs and dean of Academic Affairs.

Chandigarh University - My experience from fees to social life

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is good and cover every aspects of learning and skills needed in today's time but it feels the semester get over to fast in around 3.5 months with 3 exams and lab exam. They should provide the real learning based on a student interest some student are good in coding but they lack to communicate better, they should focus on that part also as they also do in many cases by giving subjects like soft skills and communication skills every sem.The teacher should not be reading the ppt only . We can do that also why we are paying that much fees just to learn from a teacher who is just reading the slides.

Placement Experience:

My plan is to pursue masters but placements at LPU are best. Over 100 tech comapnies have tie-ups with our university and all of them are of highest regard. From Code tech to Flipkart and Google every big tech company come to our campus. Student have bagged packages close to 1 crores as well from LPU campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

i would rate the course curriculum as largely relevant and fairly comprehensive,. one of the main reasons i chose this course was the balance between conceptual foundations and practical exposure. the curricuum supports future academic growth since many of the modules introduce us to advance topics early, making it easier to explore research. some topics feel slightly outdated and could be aligned better with the current industry skills and technologies. the exam schedule is manageable, though sometimes multiple assessments happen in the same week or same day, ehich adds pressure . Spacing out evaluations a bit more and giving clearer rubrics could improve the overall experience

Honest is the best Policy

I was getting addmission in some other private colleges but this was near to me and had a great rew.. Its infra and hostels are really worth it. Bits Pilani was the other college that I applied for but in there entrance exam I didn't score enough to get a branch of my liking.
