The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

All about Thapar !

Likes

Faculty is very helpful in this college and well educated they are those who got paid 1.5x from previous colleges because they want best teacher for the students
if you want to excel in any field it is not a problem because best of best staff is there and will help you to fully excel in that field by giving you various projects
If student want to start a startup college incubation center is there for you

Dislikes

There is compulsory 75% attendance criteria for some subjects especially for branches other than computers
Too much exams you will never be free , a semester is of 5 month 1 month foe EST one month for MST and sessional and lab evals too
Hostel timing is also a big issue for me that 8:30 is last in time and 8:00 pm if you are outside campus and you want to enter for both boys and girls

Placement Experience:

Intership opportunity come after 2nd year also which is a great thing and main interships start after 3rd year and 315 companies visit for placements and if you are at thapar placement is not a big issue if i compare with other private colleges last year highest package in india was 64 lakhs with an average of 15 lakhs for top brances last year more than 80% students got placed i also want to do job after my btech

The college provides a good platform for students to grow and learn some amazing skills.
Infrastructure of the college is amazing.
Frequent hackathons give the opportunity to test your skills

Dislikes

Fees of the college is very high and it increases every year
Half of our semester goes in examinations

Placement Experience:

Placements for CSE are good. Many companies visit the campus like JP morgan, Microsoft, Accenture, Cisco, Samsung, Infosys, TCS, etc. Average package for CSE is 12 lakhs and highest domestic is around 70 lakhs. I think more than 90% students are placed in CSE.

Life at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - a brief look

Likes

Infrastructure : The campus has the most well constructed, modern and impressive library and academic block that exceeds expectations. The lecture theatres and library being so well made add to the productivity by a huge margin !
Exposure to the best : Whether its Google or apple , you will always have a senior placed in one of these dream companies who can guide you to do the same when your placement comes around.

Dislikes

Sometimes the classes schedule may get hectic for a student on some particular days which may lead to lack of skill development and extra curricular on those days

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Electrical and computer engineering. I took this course because of the dual knowledge I will be getting in both the Computer science field and the electrical field. Today these two fields work together to be the most important work area at present. For example companies like Nvidia require a very specific skill set that lies in the intersection of these two branches. Apart from the intersection too , one can easily make their career in either one of those fields too making this choice perfect for me!

It has a beautiful campus and the greenery just flabbergasts you .
The internship opportunities are very great and the competitive environment pushes you forward
The location of Patiala gives you a soothing live

Dislikes

I don't like the distance that i need travel 300kms to reach college

Placement Experience:

The companies that visit our campus are quite big as all the big MNC including THE MAANG and the big four of consultancy visit our campus providing us great internships and placements opportunities. A majority of students gets placed leading to good average package

Thapar University (Everything You Need to Know)

Likes

Good campus size and amenities provided with ample of space
Friendly and helpful staff and teachers. Also hostels are way too good compared to other colleges.

Dislikes

The college campus has not very much stuff to engage around with and annual fests occurs after much discussion and very unpredictable.
The classroom for lower branches are Non Ac making summer classes unbearable while upper branches have fully functional AC rooms.

Placement Experience:

Placement of Thapar is very good because when after covid many NITs struggle to offer placement to every student Thapar provided some excellent package where many of my colleagues were offered more than 20lpa packages with some of them exceeding 30lpa from companies like Linkedin. JP morgan offered 15lpa to 25 students while blackrock offered 11lpa to 15 students. My plans are to pursue MBA for which I am preparing as i have planned to do it from Germany. Aug Weinderstein.

Summary of thapar

Likes

The infrastructure is very aesthetic and have soothing places to spend the evening.
The culture is very vibrant that includes the societies and clubs which makes thapar a happening place.
The faculties are well qualified whereas they don't focus personally in each student so you have to go to them for appointment if there is any problem.

Dislikes

The fees is quite over rated according to the facilities
The sports complex can be constructed since it is being delayed by last 3 years.
The hostel in time can be waved as it is way too strict.

Placement Experience:

Placement and intership opportunities are provided in a abundance and a student with decent grades and knowledge can avail on campus offers very easily. A minimum of 7.5 cg is required for the safe zone but there are exceptions for those who have mastered any skill.

My 4 year experience at Thapar

Likes

Good infrastructure, labs and research opportunities
Course curriculum matches IIT and also designed ymake it easier for international admissions
All the professors are Phd and well read in the domain

Dislikes

Strict on hostel in and out timings and campus in and out.
Not very receptive to having a good fest and other events

Placement Experience:

Campus placements start in the 7th semester and internships Start from 5-6th semester. 200-250 companies visit the campus for placements and around 25-30 companies visit for internships. Placement process is pretty standard like the rest.

Guide for COE at Thapar University

Experienced faculty with PhD from top universities such as IITs and NITs
Friendly and very kind seniors that provide advice whenever needed and are always there to help
Societies and club are really very active and promote coding culture. The infrastructure is very good and the library is really very huge and resourceful.

Placement Experience:

Minimum 7.5 to 8 CGPA should be maintained as far as COE branch is concerned. The placement is offered to almost every student witha decent package. Twch companies like JPMC, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. visit the campus for internships as well as placements and even Consultancy firms do like Bain, McKinsey, Deloitte, Capgemini, etc.

Expensive but worth it if you study hard.

One of the best things that anyone would easily notice in Thapar University is the world class infrastructure. No matter wherever you look whether in the classrooms or the hostels the infrastructure will steal your look for sure.
The second thing I really liked is the hostel mess food. I have asked many students of other campuses about their mess food quality but listening to their reviews I found that the food in our hostels really stands out.
Last but not the least... The gender ration in the campus is a lot better as compared to other engineering colleges in India. So getting a partner is not that hard in the college, even with the minimal efforts one can easily get a partner.

Dislikes

High fees. Undoubtedly the high fees is the biggest cons of this college. 6 lakhs per year is something very few families can afford.
Punjabi Culture. Now this is something not everyone will like. So if you get irritated by the punjabi culture it will irritate you like hell.
Entry timings. This is the most hated part of this college faced by students. So all students will have to get back to college by 8 pm at night, and to the hostels by 8.30. So it makes the college life quite boring.

Placement Experience:

The placements in Thapar are the best part about it. Majorly for the computer branches the placements are brilliant. Many famous MNCs visit the campus every year for the placements and recruit many students. The students become eligible to sit for internships and placements from second year. JP morgan , Apple , Amazon are some of the companies that visits the campus. 90 percent of the studets are placed. My plans after degree is to persue masters from US.

My college life

Likes

Faculty members are very friendly and expert in their field.
Clean and hygienic environment everywhere.
Extra curriculum activities are also organised for student's mental as well as physical growth.

Dislikes

Overstrictness is there as we are not allowed to sit in college premises without any teacher even in free period.
Watercoolers are not working most of the time and washrooms are also not that hygienic.
Some of the teachers are very strict they even talk rudely with students

Placement Experience:

You are eligible for placements after 2nd year. College offers great placements and job opportunities with good salary packages to students whoch are good in studies and capable of doing something. Recently four of my seniors got placements. One of them got placement in Aditya Birla Group with ?3.30 lakh per year package and rest three got in Dakin Air Conditioning with ?5.25 lakh per year package. After drgree I will apply for government exams and will continue btech as well.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
