The course curriculum is set up as per the growing technologies. The exams are conducted in two phase for a semester as MST and EST with two sessional prior to both of them. Thapar has well equipped labs for almost all the things you need. You won't complain here for shortage of lab equipments and all.

Companies come in thapar for placements as well as for paid and unpaid internships. Competition will be high as the number of students are big in the campus competing for the profile. So you will have to make yourself up to mark with required number of projects and all to get some upper edge with some decent CGPA.

Students are eligible for placements in third and fourth year. And big companies like google, Microsoft, Sap, amazon etc visits the campus. And the average package that get offered here is around 12 Lpa for computer related branches and overall it is 9-10 LPA. Thapar is also good for mechanical engineering as it has good labs and big companies like Hero, LnT etc visits here for the placements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Tuition fees of Thapar is really high. It has categorised its fees according to the courses like for computer brances like COPC COBS COE it will cost you around 30L for 4 years including hostel and everything and for Electronics related branches it will be around 26-27L. And tuition and hostel fees are increasing year by year. You will get the full chart of fees structure on the website of thapar for all four year with full transparency. There is an SBI bank branch also which will help you to get easy loan and college even support that. If you have decent rank then you will also get good amount of scholarship like TF/2 or full TF. And this scholarship is branch wise so many will get benefit of the scholarship.

There are a lot of tech and cultural societies in the campus and all of them all very active and lively. You will get almost every week mails for some event in the campus. And campus of Thapar is very lively almost after every 3-4 months some big events are organised where people can enjoy. Thapar's Naval Nalanda library is huge with well managed staff members which includes big number of books and journals. Thapar has a number of hostels with different facilities in all of them. You will get all type of accomodation like 1s non ac/ac, 2s non Ac/ac 4s and 3s with ac as well as non ac as you like. Some hostels will provide you attached washroom but most of them will have common washrooms. The cleaning facilities are great. You wont have any complains regarding and that and geysers in all washroom with all time operations. The quality of food is really better than other mess. If you want to get a hostel you will have to register after your allocation is confirmed by payment of fees and after that it is their responsibility to allot you a hostel. If you want a pg or room then it will around 2-3 kms from campus

Faculty

4.5

The Faculties of Thapar are highly qualified and have very good industry wise experience. They are up to date by the advancing technologies and can help you in any of your domain. They are very helpful but you have to reach them for your query. Faculty to student ratio is decent like 40-50 students for one teacher and this is the highest I am taking. Professors will welcome your approach and will give you support if it is in their reach.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd year onwards you are eligible for placements. In 6th semester placements starts taking place although most of the companies come in 7th and 8th semester. as Recession is going on for technical profiles less companies are coming and more of non technical profiles like mostlt sales profile are coming. As a BTech student no one wants to go in sales division as why are we even doing Btech if we have to go to sales department so that is a disadvantage. Also mass recruiters did not come this year for recruitments , Wipro came for 3.6lpa and cognizant for onlt 2.6lpa which is outrageous and they did nit even take a lot of students. It is a bitter truth but nowadays company wants even freshers to be highly qualified otherwise you won't get any placement. The test level is increased so try to give test with your friends only In my batch only 40% students got placed that too around 28% either got less package or non technical profile

I was fond of learning the computer science course since it was my dream to study that. The faculty members are good enough and the teaching involved the traditional mode and has the best outcome at all. All teachers are properly qualified with master's degrees. Exams are conducted twice in one semester and are of moderate type.
