Course Curriculum Overview

5

My course is Electrical and computer engineering. I took this course because of the dual knowledge I will be getting in both the Computer science field and the electrical field. Today these two fields work together to be the most important work area at present. For example companies like Nvidia require a very specific skill set that lies in the intersection of these two branches. Apart from the intersection too , one can easily make their career in either one of those fields too making this choice perfect for me!

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Thapar is very costly , with its 4 year BE course amount coming out to be nearly 26-27 lakhs including tution , hostel and mess fees. However the good thing is a lot of people get scholarship here , you just have to get a good CGPA and maintain it throughout

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is one of the best things about Thapar! The co-curricular events and sports events conducted here along with the very happening hostel life here makes sure life isn't dull even for a single day. The college fest is one of the best fests of the country. Sports tournaments and competitions keep taking place very frequently. The library is hands down one of the best libraries a college can have and has a very vast collection of books, journals, research papers , etc .

Admission

The admission process was using the JEE mains score , thapar conducts it's own counselling rounds. Everyone who has above 60% in boards and given JEE are eligible to sit in the counselling after filling the form which can be found at thapar's own website www.thapar.edu

Faculty

4

There are lecture groups which have around 100-120 students where one professor takes the lecture in a lecture theatre. This group is further divided into sub-groups with 20-24 students who attend tutorial classes and labs together. The faculty are all PHD. degree holders and are very approachable! The professors provide us with their contact information during the start of the session itself so anyone can approach them if a problem or doubt arises.

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Because my current college offers better placements, better infrastructure, better location and overall better opportunities and exposure.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd year onwards you are eligible for placements. In 6th semester placements starts taking place although most of the companies come in 7th and 8th semester. as Recession is going on for technical profiles less companies are coming and more of non technical profiles like mostlt sales profile are coming. As a BTech student no one wants to go in sales division as why are we even doing Btech if we have to go to sales department so that is a disadvantage. Also mass recruiters did not come this year for recruitments , Wipro came for 3.6lpa and cognizant for onlt 2.6lpa which is outrageous and they did nit even take a lot of students. It is a bitter truth but nowadays company wants even freshers to be highly qualified otherwise you won't get any placement. The test level is increased so try to give test with your friends only In my batch only 40% students got placed that too around 28% either got less package or non technical profile

Talking about the placements the students become eligible for placements during the last year of the degree i.e in the 7th or 8th semester. The name of the companies visited in our college are Capegimini, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Amazon, Byjus, Microtech etc. The students percentage ratio during the placements are 60-70% from every batch. I was fond of learning the computer science course since it was my dream to study that. The faculty members are good enough and the teaching involved the traditional mode and has the best outcome at all. All teachers are properly qualified with master's degrees. Exams are conducted twice in one semester and are of moderate type.
