Honest and Genuine review of NIT Rourkela

So, the Positive aspects of the college are that big companies come for the place Like Amazon, NVIDIA, Tata, Texas Instruments and many more. And also, the fees is relatively less than the other engineering colleges. And also many workshops happens.
The relevance of the course curriculums is not very linked to the modern requirements but in the expertise in this college gives us also helps in the further development of our personality and in learning the new things.

Dislikes

The curriculum is not up to date The college is only focusing on theory but not on the skills for the students and therefore students have to work by their own to develop such skills which require for the placements.

Fees and Financial Aid:

So the detailed fees structure of the NIT Rourkela College is such that The tuition fees is about 1.25 lakh per year and the admission fees is about 2500 for the one time only and the caution fees which is refundable is about 10,000 this is also only for one time And the other fess including like a exam and library is about 5000 per year and the student activity fee is about 2000 per year and the medical fees is also about 2000 per year and the hostel plus mess fees is approximately 80,000 per year So by concluding that we got an average fees of 2,20,000 per year. And also there is a fee concession for reserve categories such that for SC, ST ,PWD and students with family income less than 1,00,000 per year has not to pay any tuition fees and only have to pay the hostel and mess charges. And for families which have an income of 1 to 5 lakh per year the tuition fees is reduced by 2/3 and has to pay only the 1/3 tuition fee. Now for the fee structure trend the tuition fee are increasing steadily over recent years and also further hikes are possible. So the money needed for the completion of four year B tech in EC branch is approximately 8 to 10 lakhs for general category. Now the scholarship and the financial aid includes Merit cum means, central and state scholarships, Institute scholarships and other scholarships like by private players example Aditya Birla, ONGC, Tata etc. So on conclusion the hostel and mess fees are compulsory for all students and the fee structure may vary by year or Batch by the central government guidelines and the institute policies.

NIT Rourkela in a nutshell.

Dislikes

There are some subjects that are not related to the branch but we have to study them for grades so i think those subjects should be removed.The subjects should be related to the branch.
There is a 85% attendance in NIT Rourkela and it is strict. So we have to attend the classes even if we don't like some of them.Skipping classes can result in penalty. I think it should be 75% like other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Total Fees i am paying yearwise is around 200000-210000 as in the first semester i paid 136000 but after that i have paid around 100000 for every semester and i think most likely it will be 100000 tile the end of the fourth year.1 year has two semesters. For any semester tution fess is 62500. Other fess include activity fees- 2000, medical fee-2000,hostel seat rent -5000, and exam / library fees-5000. F The hostel fees has two parts establishment fee which is 5000 and mess fee 18000-20000. For students whose income is less tha 500000 per annum they give 1/3 pf the tution fees which is around 20700. For students whose income is less than 100000 or SC/ST students they don't give any tution fees.

My self iam harsha vardhan it rourkela My branch machanical engeneering here the the hostel feez was be the 100000 it is the ac hostel so thats way the hostel feez is double and here the for our branch the feez was be the 50000 and here many games are there to play like the gym in our college and alos the hostel food is too good with the infrastructure and the food certainly with nonwedge and the wedge in the college here the scholorship is not mandatory because here the feez is so less by these all equpiments so they will not be considerd these college scholorship

The year wise fees for general category -apx 2 lakhs/year Tution fees is around 180000 Registration fees around 5000 Development fees around 5000 Lab fees and student activity fee all combined 10,000 For sc category it comes down to 80-90k per yr and st also same . The fees structure changed last year only although it remains constant for maximum time.

For the 1st and 2nd semesters, the tuition fee is 62500 each. So the total tuition fee is 125000. The admission fee is 2500. Student Activity and medical fee both are 2000 for each semester. The other fee is 5000 for each 1st and 2nd semester 10000. Then hostel rent is 5000 for both semesters. The development fee is also 5000 for both semesters each. Mess fee is 30000 for both semesters, and there is a one-time institute emergency fund deposit which is 12500. The total fee is around 248000 for 1st year. For SC/ST/families of income below 1lpa, there is no tuition fee. And families of income between 1 lpa to 5 lpa have to pay one-third of the tuition fee.

Fees and Financial Aid:

In first year, I paid around 1.5 Lakhs. The tuition fees is around 65000. There is also caution fees and various other fees for many categories. There are fee waivers for students belonging to categories and also for students having annual income less than 1L or between 1L to 5L. Till now, I am not aware of any scholarship provided directly by the institute.
