Course Curriculum Overview

3

In the first year every branch has same subjects. From the second year the subjects are mainly related to the specific branch.I think the cirriculum is also a little bit old for today's modern generation and it should include more real world subjects which are aplicable in today' world. There are some subjects which are not at all related to the course so they should be removed in my optnion so that students could spend there time in learing extra things which are essential forthe jobs. The teaching methods are good. Instead of using normal writing professors use presentation and lsides which helps in better understanding of ths subject.Internships start from third year and it prepares students for the real world. It helps students in placement during their fourth year.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is a summer internship program at nit rkl. Students are offered internships in both core and it sector. I dont know the exact stipend as i am in my second year and have not done ant internship. The student intership program alsoaloows students from other institutions to participate in the program.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placements in there fourth year of college from 1st semester. The average package is around 12 lakh and around 90-95 % of students are places in all branches. The top recruiters of metallurgy branch include Jindal , TATA Steel and JSW. The highest package was around 1.2 cr and it was from ece branch. Over 342 companies visited NIT Rourkela and around 1300+ job offers were made. I plan on doing a job probably and i dont plan to do higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Total Fees i am paying yearwise is around 200000-210000 as in the first semester i paid 136000 but after that i have paid around 100000 for every semester and i think most likely it will be 100000 tile the end of the fourth year.1 year has two semesters. For any semester tution fess is 62500. Other fess include activity fees- 2000, medical fee-2000,hostel seat rent -5000, and exam / library fees-5000. F The hostel fees has two parts establishment fee which is 5000 and mess fee 18000-20000. For students whose income is less tha 500000 per annum they give 1/3 pf the tution fees which is around 20700. For students whose income is less than 100000 or SC/ST students they don't give any tution fees.

Campus Life

5

The clubs are a huge part of Nit Rourkela and they are very active. There are a lot of clubs and and students can join them according to there interests. Many events such as workshops, fests, seminars and and tournaments are organised throughout the whole year. These events help in the overall development of students and make college life more fun. The classrooms are equipped with ac and smartboards. Our library has a huge collection of books which can be used to gather knowledge on a particular subject. SAC which is a student body manages all the clubs.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels are pretty good compared to other college hostels. All rooms are double sharing and some rooms are single. There is ethernet port in the hostel in every room. The internet sped is not too great but it is manageable. There is no seperated registration for hostels in first year we get hostel during admission only. I am not sure if there are pg facilities or not in thid locality. After first year we have options in which hostel we have to stay. We have to fill a form and give 2 of the five hostels as preference. The mess food is not too good but it is manageable as we cannot expect a high quality food from college mess. There are many places where we can eat if we dont like the mess food any day.

Admission

I also got a confirm admission in iiit bbsr in cse branch but after that in my second round of josaa i got NIT Rourkela so accepted it.I was very excited for this college. I wanted to go to an iit but I did not get enough marks in advance. But i am glad that i chose this college and i dont regret my decison. About the admission process, its the same as other NITs. Students have to bring enough perentile in jee mains and according the demand of the nit the cuttoff will be decided. I think NIT Rourkela cutoff was around 96 percentile. After that we physically reported to the college and and our documents were verified and then we got the admission. I did not face any problems during the whole admission process and everything was pretty systematic.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is pretty good. I dont know the exact number but it is good. There are 2 exams in one semester mid sem and end sems.Mid sems carry 30 marks and end sems are of 50 marks. The remaining 20 marks is given by the professor. He can give the marks any way he likes but mostly it is given for interaction in class, classtests and assignments given by the professor. The exams are not too difficult. One can score easily by reading class notes and slides as most questions are from class notes or from assignments or previous year questions. I liked Suchandar kayal sir from second semester who taught us maths. He was a bit strict on the attendance but his teaching was very good and he was very friendly. He also gave us good marks. I did not like the professor who taught evs in second semester. He only read the slides and did not pay any attentation to what the students are doing in the class and goes on reading the slides.

Night Life

5

The nightlife is pretty good. The canteens are open till 1 or 2 pm and ther are restriction on going out of the hostel only in the initial days of the firt semester. There are lot of restraunts such as Dominos , Keventars and Dosa plaza inside the campus. We can also order food from those restraunts. Almost every hostel has a gym which opens in the morning till 10am and night till 9 pm. Also every hostel has a night canteen in which can go and eat food at night when we are hungry.

Other Applied Colleges

International Institute of Information Technology - [IIIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I got the cse branch at iiit bbsr but after that in second round of josaa i got metallurgy in NIT Rourkela. I always wanted to study in an IIT OR NIT so even if the branch i got was not the top branch, i chose NIT Rourkela and i dont regret coming to this

Placement Experience:

Placements at KIIT University for B.Tech CSE are decent and well structured, especially for students who prepare consistently. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester, although pre placement talks training sessions and internships start from the 5th or 6th semester. The university has a centralized placement cell that coordinates training aptitude tests mock interviews and company drives. Many reputed companies visit the campus every year including TCS Infosys Wipro Accenture Cognizant Capgemini Deloitte EY Mindtree LTI Bosch HP Amazon and a few product based startups. Mass recruiters make a large number of offers while product and service based companies offer selective roles. The average package for CSE students usually ranges between 4 to 5 LPA, while the highest package can go above 20 to 25 LPA in exceptional cases depending on the company and role such as software developer or data engineer. Around 75 to 85 percent of CSE students get placed through campus placements. Students who remain unplaced usually pursue higher studies startups off campus jobs or competitive exam preparation. Placement success largely depends on individual effort coding skills internships and communication ability. After completing my degree I plan to work in the software industry to gain practical experience and improve my technical skills. Alongside my job I also plan to upskill in advanced technologies and later consider higher studies or specialized roles depending on career growth.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIIT Bhubaneswar are generally good and improving, especially for students who stay consistent with coding, projects, and internships. In my college, students usually become eligible for campus placements from around the 7th semester (4th year), while many students start getting internship opportunities and pre-placement offers from the 5th–6th semester itself depending on skills. Every year, companies from the software and IT domain visit the campus for roles like Software Developer / SDE, QA, Analyst, Web Developer, and sometimes Data-related roles, and students also get offers through off-campus applications. Some of the common recruiters include companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, along with product/startup opportunities depending on the year, and multiple students receive more than one offer as well. The highest package and average package vary every year and depend a lot on branch, performance, and market conditions, but overall the college provides decent placement support and training sessions like aptitude, DSA guidance, and interview preparation. The placement percentage is also fairly good for students who actively participate in the placement process, while the rest generally go for higher studies or off-campus roles. After completing my degree, my plan is to either secure a good software developer role through campus/off-campus and build experience, or if I feel more interested academically, I may prepare for higher studies or competitive exams along with improving my skills.

Jsw provides avg package of INR 12 LPA And it selected only 2 students only. I think girls get placement easily as compared to boys ... companies usually select more female candidates....I think I will go for job rather than doing masters degree.
