Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time B.Tech Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.
Academic Requirement:
Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent by the AIU or Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects with 75% marks (65% marks for reserved category).
Entrance Exam:
Candidates must qualify for JEE Mains.

- For, SC/ST/PH/Family income<1lakh (Tuition fee completely exempted)
- For, students having family income between 1lakh to 5lakh per annum (Tuition fee is one-third of Tuition fees i.e. Rs. 20,833)

- The whole campus is a lush green campus with great infrastructure and facilities.
- Sports facilities and college fests are really impressive.
Dislikes
- The location of the campus is not really in the city area.
- The attendance policy in the campus is very strict.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The Tuition fee is around 100000 per year. The hostel fee is around 60000 per year. Additional fees including medical fees and caution fee will be required only for the first year. Fee waiver will be given for students with annual family income less than 500000.
Likes
- It has a very big campus of around 1200 acres.
- This nit college is zero ragging college.
Dislikes
- The weather is very extreme and changes rapidly
- The ratio of girls to boys is very low .
Fees and Financial Aid:
The tuition fee is very similar to other nits. Other fees are also very affordable but recently the mess fee has increased by approximately twice the previous one . And the mess food is also not very good.
Likes
- NITR is ranked by 16th by NIRF 2023 under the engineering category .
- NITR is one of the premier national level institutions for technology in the country .
Dislikes
- I do not like attendance criteria which is minimum 85 %.
- Some professor is very serious and does not give good TA marks .
Fees and Financial Aid:
There is basically 3 types of fees structure on the basis of total income of familiy member (1) If family income is less than 1 lakh then tution fees is not taken (2) if family income is more than 1 lakh and less than 5 lakh then one -third of tution fees is taken . (3) If family income is more than 5 lakh then full tution fees (62500) is taken . And extra fees including mess ,hostle ,SAC, dispennsary etc is incresed upto 50000 from 35000 in only one semester (2023 -2024 )

- The campus life, the club cultue are one of the best.
- Hostel Faciliteis are quite good and good enough.
Dislikes
- 85% attendance criteria feels frustating sometimes.
- Less number of outing locations near the college.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The course fees is almost 2 lakhs per year including all tuition, hostel, and mess for non-reserved and non-EWS students. It decreases according to reservation are there, government scholarships are available in the college.

- Campus Life is beautiful. There's lots of space in the campus to cycle and enjoy a scenic view.
- Hostel is vast with 1000 rooms. It is a nice place where I spend most of my time
Dislikes
- Exams are stressful and consecutive always.
- Mess food is sometimes repetitive and disgusting

There's no recent hike in the tution fee as per my notice. The complete cost is within one lakh only per semester. It is a very less amount as compared to private colleges. I haven't taken any campus responsibility/job.

The fee structure of the college varies across different programs. For MBA/PGDM, the fees are 4 lakhs, requiring a graduation with 50% marks. B.E./B.Tech programs range from 5 to 6.3 lakhs, with eligibility based on 10+2 with 75% marks. M.Sc. programs cost between 75-84 thousand, requiring a graduation with 60% marks. M.E./M.Tech programs range from 1.4 to 6.3 lakhs, with eligibility based on 10+2 with 75% marks and graduation with 60-65% marks. B.Sc. programs cost 75 thousand, with eligibility based on 10+2 with any percentage. B.Arch programs cost 6.3 lakhs, requiring 10+2 with 50% marks. Ph.D. programs range from 1.3 to 1.5 lakhs, requiring graduation with 55% marks and relevant work experience. M.A. programs cost 30 thousand, requiring graduation with 50% marks. Executive MBA/PGDM costs 6 lakhs, requiring graduation with 60% marks and work experience. PG Diploma programs cost 2.5 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid:
The cost here is a bit low compared to many private institutions. There are many scholorships for students based on different criteria. There will be no campus employement. The total fee for a semester is nearly 1 lakh for general and for reservations it varies based on the category. The tution fee is 68,500/- and the remaining other fees are 32,500/-. For reservation students, there is 100% tution fee waiver.

The fee structure in this college is nearly 2lakhs per annum and some members can avail tution fee waiver by submitting appropriate documents and after verification they will tell us about the finalized fee structure. The scholarship will also be available for example ffe and nsp by submitting college related bonafide certificate and all relevant document's.

We have to pay 1 lakh rupees per semester, From the second year and For the First year 124000Rs was taken Including some one-time fees. Students can also avail of scholarships from the national scholarship Portal.

Is it better to take metallurgy in NIT Rourkela or electrical in NIT Silchar?
You need to compare the two universities to make a decision between the two. Having friends studying in both the institutes, I might be able to help you with the question.
Metallurgy at NIT Rourkela:
- Campus-wise, the college has a very large campus.
- But, if you are planning to pursue metallurgy, let me tell you that you will have lesser job opportunities in both the public and private sectors in India.
- You might have to shift to another country to get a well-paying job and earn decently in your field of study.
Electrical at NIT Silchar:
- There are also some really good facilities here including the largest digital library in South Asia.
- The campus is really good too.
- The placement records are amazing. Moreover, electrical is an evergreen branch with decent scope in the public sector. This would surely make a good alternative.
