NIT Rourkela Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 722 Reviews

The faculty at this college are highly qualified, with most holding PhDs from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs, as well as foreign universities. The faculty-to-student ratio varies across departments, with some as low as 1:2 in specific branches like Life Science, and averaging around 1:15 to 1:20 overall. Faculty members are generally well-versed in their subjects, supportive, and offer guidance in both academic and personal matters.

The college's faculty is notably strong in research, contributing significantly to publications and holding patents. The examination system includes mid-semester and end-semester exams, along with continuous assessment, and faculty often provide additional support through tutorials and doubt-clearing sessions. While the faculty are generally cooperative and knowledgeable, some concerns are raised regarding the alignment of course structure and teaching methods with practical applications.

Faculty:

The faculties are abundant in this college there are very good ones also some bad ones, the relationship between faculties and students are good there are faculties who conducts extra classes for doubt clearing and all , also faculties support our interest in any research or project works they guide us or helps us in the best way the can . There are no specific faculty that i like more as all are very good to me and interacting but there are also students who don't interact with these faculties ,there is also faculties who doesn't know the students because its a huge class with a strength around 120 students so remembering everyone is also a very tough task for them. There are some profs who are very bad ti students in giving marks especially in electrical engineering these professors doesn't teach us properly and then they want us to learn externally which is not possible bcz even we try they try to reduce our marks that's so disappointing. The exam patterns are as follows There will be a midsem exams (30 marks) Endsem exams (50 marks) Internal marks (20 marks) Out of 100 only 35 mark is required for one to get P grade (pass) which is also a good thing to clear some tough subjects. The exams are not that difficult but some subjects like electrical machines are tough but if you work hard then its easy to pass there are students who fail to clear the exams mostly due to their playful nature If one fails he/she can write the supplementary during the summer break that year itself there will be classes for two months and both midsems and endsems would be conducted. The curriculum is fine but there are some subjects that are not at all required for us being taught like biology, humanities, bio linguistics etc etc i don't really understand why an engineering student should study these subjects

Every Faculties present were very supportive and helpful. Even every batch is assigned with faculty advisor so he guides us throughout our four years. Exam pattern comprises of 100 marks for each course which includes 30 marks of mid sem , 50 marks of end sem and 20 of teacher assessment. Course curriculum is good. In final year everyone is given a choice of opting either for project or any other courses.

Faculty:

The faculty is to student ratio is Between 1:12 and 1:15 . The faculty and student relationship is good in this college and the faculties are very much approachable by the means of a mobile phone, email and in person. So the faculty named Sudeep Kundu is a very good teacher and also very much passionate for the teaching and works very hard for the students to understand the topics. Also Also the faculty named Kamlesh Acharya is also a very good teacher of mathematics he always focuses on the student doubts and on the question practices which helps the student to understand the mathematical problems very easily. So there mainly two exams which are midsems and endsems And the level of the paper is Not so hard. The failing students for the exams are very few. The relevancy of the course curriculum is not up to date As in nowadays skills are a necessary part for the placement but the college is not providing us an enough skills for the placement.

The faculty to student ratio is pretty good. I dont know the exact number but it is good. There are 2 exams in one semester mid sem and end sems.Mid sems carry 30 marks and end sems are of 50 marks. The remaining 20 marks is given by the professor. He can give the marks any way he likes but mostly it is given for interaction in class, classtests and assignments given by the professor. The exams are not too difficult. One can score easily by reading class notes and slides as most questions are from class notes or from assignments or previous year questions. I liked Suchandar kayal sir from second semester who taught us maths. He was a bit strict on the attendance but his teaching was very good and he was very friendly. He also gave us good marks. I did not like the professor who taught evs in second semester. He only read the slides and did not pay any attentation to what the students are doing in the class and goes on reading the slides.

The faculties are well qualified and overall good with some exceptions some faculties usually just read from the ppts and all but few of the faculties also emphasize on teaching greatly The faculties are approachable that is you can ask them doubts after the class and all. I liked the maths faculty named Kamlesh Acharya he taught maths very well. There are 2 sets of exams in the college one being the mid sem and the other being the end sems Usually the the checking of question paper is fluid and most of the students pass baring few exceptions . If in case the paper was very tough or something like that then the teachers follow relative grading . The course is quite releavnt including buzz topics like AI and ML
