Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum in terms of relevance is That is the ec course is the booming course In the coming years And this is the reason that influenced me to choose this course as it allows students to go in both the fields like software and hardware. The curriculum only prepares us for the theory party and is somewhat of a physical training But mainly the student have to work hard to gain some skills for the placements and also for understanding the theory parts. So the areas of four improvement in the course curriculums are Using the test software says By training the students with the proper guiding teachers And also by changing the teaching methods relevant to each student by understanding their pace of learning. The exams are not very frequent And the timings of the exams are But for the first year the exam comes very early so the student don't have much time To adjust in the environment of the college and also too make a pace with the college curriculum. The difficulty level of the exams are also dependent on the subjects and also the checking methods of the exams like mathematics ,basic electrical are hard to understand And there Checking methods are also strict.

Internships Opportunities

4

An important internship opportunity is the summer internship program(SIP) which is designed to engage bright undergraduate and post graduate students including those from other institute across India to help them to get the internships. While the SIP does not directly tie internships to external companies or offers stipends, student often simultaneously pursue internships or projects with reputed firms through the Institute's placement and incubation support. Past internships facilitated by NIT Rourkela students of the EC branch includes roles such as embedded systems developers, data analyst, software developer, Research Associate and Design and testing engineer. Interns work on cutting edge projects designed by faculty mentors including: 1) Developing signal processing algorithm in ECE. 2) Designing and implementing embedded circuits. 3) Conducting research on communications protocols and wireless networks 4) Data modeling and analytics for real world program Solving. 5) Experimental and simulation based projects with prototypes or published outcomes.

Placement Experience

5

So the students become eligible for placemant usually from the 7th semester of the Btech which is from the 4th year and the internship opportunities are available from the 3rd year onwards that is from 5th and 6th semester. So in year 2024-25 the number of companies that visited The campus is around 330 And the total job offers offered is about 1200. So the highest package in the EC branch is about 1.2 crore per annum and the average package for the EC branch is around 13 to 14 lakhs. And the Profile of jobs are core electronics, VLSI and semiconductor roles ,system and embedded developments, software engineering, IT services, consulting and analytics. The percentage of student which are getting placed are in the range of 90 to 99% for ECE branch. The top recruiters are Apple Google, Microsoft, Amazon, wipro, Deloitte, Tata,Vedanta etc. After completing my degree in ECE from NIT Rourkela my plan is to join the core technology sector as a VLSI and semiconductor engineer in a reputed multinational Companies, leveraging the strong foundation and industrial exposure gained during my studies in case I do not secure a campus placement I aim to pursue the off campus opportunities in electronics, IT or analytics sectors. Alternatively I am open to perceive higher studies in MBA to specialize in the management sector.

Fees and Financial Aid

So the detailed fees structure of the NIT Rourkela College is such that The tuition fees is about 1.25 lakh per year and the admission fees is about 2500 for the one time only and the caution fees which is refundable is about 10,000 this is also only for one time And the other fess including like a exam and library is about 5000 per year and the student activity fee is about 2000 per year and the medical fees is also about 2000 per year and the hostel plus mess fees is approximately 80,000 per year So by concluding that we got an average fees of 2,20,000 per year. And also there is a fee concession for reserve categories such that for SC, ST ,PWD and students with family income less than 1,00,000 per year has not to pay any tuition fees and only have to pay the hostel and mess charges. And for families which have an income of 1 to 5 lakh per year the tuition fees is reduced by 2/3 and has to pay only the 1/3 tuition fee. Now for the fee structure trend the tuition fee are increasing steadily over recent years and also further hikes are possible. So the money needed for the completion of four year B tech in EC branch is approximately 8 to 10 lakhs for general category. Now the scholarship and the financial aid includes Merit cum means, central and state scholarships, Institute scholarships and other scholarships like by private players example Aditya Birla, ONGC, Tata etc. So on conclusion the hostel and mess fees are compulsory for all students and the fee structure may vary by year or Batch by the central government guidelines and the institute policies.

The registration for the hostel is done through the NIT Rourkela Hostel portal at the time of admission. After first year the student have to change their hostels which are allotted on the basis of grades and priority. And there is only the double occupancy rooms are available.

Admission

So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people. The Admission steps include 1)register and appear for jee mains 2) Get jee rank and register on the Josaa Portal 3) Fill college and branch choices 4) seat allotment in rounds; upload documents and pay seat acceptance fees 5) final admission after physical document verification at Nit Rourkela.

Faculty

4

The faculty is to student ratio is Between 1:12 and 1:15 . The faculty and student relationship is good in this college and the faculties are very much approachable by the means of a mobile phone, email and in person. So the faculty named Sudeep Kundu is a very good teacher and also very much passionate for the teaching and works very hard for the students to understand the topics. Also Also the faculty named Kamlesh Acharya is also a very good teacher of mathematics he always focuses on the student doubts and on the question practices which helps the student to understand the mathematical problems very easily. So there mainly two exams which are midsems and endsems And the level of the paper is Not so hard. The failing students for the exams are very few. The relevancy of the course curriculum is not up to date As in nowadays skills are a necessary part for the placement but the college is not providing us an enough skills for the placement.

Night Life

4

The gyms are available in all the hostels The closing time of the are around 9 to 10:00 PM while that central gym may remain open a longer time. All the hostels have mainly two cafeterias First day canteen and second night canteen The night canteen are open till 1:00 AM the popular cafeterias are Dominos ,GDB Canteen ,Amul parlour,Keventers,Calorie and Dosa plaza. The central library named Biju Patnaik operates till 11:00 PM providing quite a steady space late into the evening and the time extends in the exam days. The public spaces are open all the Times which includes Student Activity Center, sports ground, common lawn ,DTS ground for informal gatherings and events.
