Infrastructure & Academic Building

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course cirriculam at JGEC is strong in fundamentals and provides a solid conceptual base in core subjects, which was a major reason behind my decision to choose this course. It prepares students well for higher studies and compititive axams loke GATE,but for real world industry application,a lot of modern technologies are still to be integrated into the curriculam.Teaching methodsare theory-oriented,so more project based learning, updated lab equipment and industry linked sessions will improve the learning experience.Exam are conducted twice per semister along with internal exam. The difficulty level is moderate.

Internships Opportunities

3

Jgec gives good intern chances from mid course. Many CSE and IT student get dev intern roles in company like Google ,Amazon,Microsoft and more. Core fields get plant or site intern roles in power, steel and design units. Some get paid and some are not.The college also runs a summer intern plan for all branch.

Placement Experience

4

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester, when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more. The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately. The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where. But last year the percentage placed is 70%.

Fees and Financial Aid

At the time of admission we have to give 12341 rupees which includes various fees. After 4 months we have to pay 9000 rupees, and then we have to give 12931 rupees/year for the rest of 3 years, which sum up to approximately 60309 rupees for 4 year for a CSE branch student. The fees is same for ECE also. For CE,EE,ME the fees is 35809 rupees. For IT it is 109309 rupees. The fees is same for all catagory student . There is SVMCM scholarship through which the student will get 60000/year for 4 years. The fees structure is present in the website,so just go and check it out. There are also alumni scholarship which helps the student a lot. There is also a system of half fee and full fee compensation by the college itself which decreases the pressure of a student and their family.Overall the fees structure is very affordable.

Campus Life

4

At my college campus life felt lively and balanced . Thanks to strong student run clubs and a good campus setup . We had a major cultural fest which often held around March . There is also a tech management fest which usually happens in winter . These brought together students from many branches . We used to have social nights ,music, dance, art shows , coding , robotics and a lot of fun . The campus has a central library with a hugh stock of books . The books are easily available . Ther are blackboard and projecter in the classroom . There is a mixture of events , clubs access to library and labs, sports and social cultural . This made life vibrant and helped many of us grow socially , academically and personally.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have taken a PG near the college .It is hardly 500m. There are lots of PGs near hostel. The facility and the price varies of the Pg.There are some areas where only students stay. The rent for eveery month in PG can cost from 2000 rupees and can go upto 10000 rupees .It completely depends in facility that they provide.

Admission

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established, fully government owned autonomous college, with good accreditation. It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible. It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure, labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory. The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is good. The faculty are very kind and helpful. The faculty are very approachable and will definately help you with their full efforts. As it is a autonomous college means run by the college itself, the exam questions are made by the teachers themselves. The level of the questions are upto the mark. There are less number of student who failed the exam. The course cirriculam is relevant with the market .

Night Life

4

Nightlife around the college is calm but pleasant,as the campus sits in a quiet area with a safe, small town vibe where students can walk or chill without much worry;inside campus, the gym, main cafe, and library close by evening and a public zones start to wind down early, while hostel in times are usually around 10PM,after which students stay inside their blocks. There are some hangout space like the college more and a few late open tea ans snack shops which serve as chill points .The peaceful and safe mood at night mixed with these small but warm hangout spots, shape JGEC life into a relaxed ,bonding heavy experience where even simple nights create strong memories.

Other Applied Colleges

Jadavpur University - [JU] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

The marks vs rank west extremely high in WBJEE 2025,that't why I didn't get the seat.....

ELIGIBILITY FOR CAMPUS PLACEMENT: At Brainware University students generally become eligible for campus placement from the final years of their course. For many programs placemnet preparation sactivities such as aptitude training, soft skills development, resume building, mock interviews begin earlier, you can say that these activities are incoporated from the 1st semester itself. COMAPINES VISIT: Several reowned and reputed compaines from IT, management, healthcare, media, and core sectors visits the university for campus recruitment. Placement drive include companines from domains such as software services, consulting, education, sales digital marketing etc. For my domain CSE AIML companies like Infosys,Amazon,Cognizant,Adobe etc visits.
