About GCETT
The Government College of Engineering & Textile Technology Berhampore (formerly known as the College of Textile Technology Berhampore) is a college of West Bengal University of Technology. The Government College of Engineering & Textile Technology started in central jail at Berhampore on 19 july,1927 as Govt. Silk weaving and Dyeing Institute to train local workers.
- In 1940 college was renamed as Bengal Technological institute with introduction to 3 year diploma course in textile technology.
- In 1958, college upgraded level of degree to B.Sc. under University of Culcutta
- In 1990 college transferred to University of Kalyani
- In 1998 college offers B.Tech in Textile Technology approved by AICTE
- In 2004 textile technology department of college was accredited by NBA
- Now college offers 4 Undergraduate and a post graduate courses

- Library: library offers wide range of technological, course books and journals. Total no. of books are 12,600 out of which 3711 are of textile technology.
- Hostel: College hostel is a four storied building which can accommodate 100 students. College has only one boys hostel.

- ALFRESCO is the technical and cultural fest of GCETTB in which various technical events took place.

Admission is done through WBJEE examination. My rank was 12322 and the cutoff varies with categories.CSE opening rank is 3000 to 11000 EE openning ran is 11000 to 24000 ME opening rank is from 12000 to 36000 TT openning rank is from 30000 to 45000 for general category.
Likes
- Cultural activities is a prime highlight of our college.
- Infrastructure of our college is a little too old but it gives a historic vibe as it is 96 years old. But we have new buildings also in the campus.
Dislikes
- The thing is don't like is the size of our college campus. I expected it to have a huge but it is okkay for a strength of 600 students

To gain admission to this college one needs to sit for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. The application process is done through the WBJEE portal and dates are mentioned on the website. The admission process is no doubt very user-friendly and easy to handle.

The admission process is conducted by the councilling system of WBJEE. You can took admission in this college through the WBJEE. For CSE branch :- rank <11000 For ME branch :- rank <15000 For EE branch :- rank < 17000 For TT branch:- rank < 25000 Application for wbjee, start from December and January month in WBJEE's official website . Application fees :- 500 There are a some reversion seat for different casts. In every branch :- 2 seats for OBC candidate 2 for SC candidate 2 for ST candidate 1 for PWD candidate The admission process is too time consuming, it should be improved.

The entrance exam is WBJEE. You have to take admission through WBJEE as it's a renowned Govt college. There is no management quota. For Textile technology, you have to score within 15000, for Electrical, mechanical & computer science engineering you have to score within 10000.

For admission BTech courses in GCETTB, WBJEE and JELET exams are accepted. For taking admission in the 1st year of the 4year BTech course, WBJEE is the only entrance exam. Diploma candidates can take admitted in the 2nd year of the 4year BTech course by the JELET exam. GATE and PGET are M.Tech admission entrance exams in the Textile Technology course.

To get, BTech course in a best stream like CSE, EE, student should be good rank(5000-8000), maximum rank is 20K, it's will be if the student has caste facilities The application form we can get from the college or we can download the application form from this college website and fill-up the form and giving required documents, ( provisional seat allotment letter, rank card of wbjee or jeemain or delete, mp mark sheet, h.s mark sheet, date of birth certificate, income certificate if you apply in tfw, and others certificate which are mentioned in the website No here, no reservation benefits, no buddy cannot reserve the seats Being a good rank in wbjee or jee main or delete, you can get the admission in this college and must remember that ranks should be below 20000
