Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen this course beacuse , i was quiet enthusiast about learning about computer systems and the new emergi9ing technologies like BLOCKCHAIN and AI ML. faculty : student ratio is --> 1:4 Faculties of JGEC are highly qualified and have awesome teaching skills . We have to semester examinations in our each year for each we get 6 months . The exams are quiet moderate to pass .

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 15000 per year

Placement Experience

Eligibility for placement in our college is from 7th sem . Companies visited our college are : TCS , COGNIZANT ,WIPRO, MEDIA.NET ,AMAZON and etc . highest package offered in out campus are : 74lpa (offcampus) average package offered in our campus : 8lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

Studying in a government college does not makes the curiculum fees high which is around 70000 rupees But even though we get many scholarships like SVMCM , OASIS and etc . We also get many job on campus with stipend around on an avg of 8lpa .

Campus Life

Campus life in JGEC is quiet awesome for a student , we also have a huge number of books in our library , each classrooms in each department have smart class facility . We also have a great sports culture in our campus . we promote cricket , football and volleyball. We also have many clubs like . Waves(Dance club) . Azantrik (Drama club) . Centre for Innovation (CFI) . sports clubs and many other clubs

Hostel Facilities

We have total 5 hostels in our campus 1 for ladies and 4 for boys . In each hostel we have a lot of rooms available . The food in each hostel maintains a proper diet . Registration of hostel begins after getting admission in college . For PG we have localities like PATKATA ,MASKALAI and near SUPER SPECIALITY HOSPITAL.

Hostel Fee: INR 16000 per year

Admission

To appear for WBJEE enterance examination we need to have 3 subjects in our 12th board exam : MATHEMATICS , PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY . The improvement that i wish to see in the admission process of the WBJEE counselling process is that : the document verification centres should be in the district of a paticular candidate where the candidate belongs to .

Placement Experience:

From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. I have also given CUET for pursuing M. Tech

Placement Experience:

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from 7 and 8 semester also their are many placement on thee intern companies. thier are total of 50 t0 60 companies that visits year which leads to very good placement percentage, in mining its above 90 percent. companies which come are infosys, microsoft, google , coal india, tcs, pwc etc. the higest pacage was 39 lacs by coal india. as mentioned above the placement is very good and almost everybranch placement is between 79 to 95 percentage of student which are placed, their are many mass recruiter if you didnt get the best pacakge you still have the chance to get a good package from the mass recruiter. my plan after degree is to advance in computer science even if i dont have the branch but i have the passion to do coding and become a web developer also i will try to get some more degree like mba and mtech and i will also try if i get selection to study abroad.

A GOOD COLLEGE WITH GOOD PLACEMENT , SPORTS FACILITY.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 7th sem. The names of comanies visited are TCS, Infosys, Capegimini,Tech mahindra etc. Some students Got 2 offer laters . Highest packages last year was 47 LPA (off Campus) 27LPA ( on campus). Average pakage was 5-6Lpa. The job role is Software Development. Percentage of Students Got placement is 92-95% In my Deoartment. Other is Around 70_90%. My plans to take placement from product based company.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
