Course Curriculum Overview

its an government engineering college so the qualification of faculty members are pretty high. one of oldest engineering college of the state so the brand value and alumni network is so high. its an autonomous college so the syllabus is also pretty hard to pass.

Internships Opportunities

the internship opportunity is very good as most of our seniors are doing great so there is no problem is having a referral for internships. companies like google and amazon do provide sde internships in our college .

Placement Experience

placement record of our college is also an point of attraction. the average lpa offerd in campus is 10 - 12 lpa which constant for past three years and the highest packages are in between 60 - 70 lpa. 100% placement is done by the last semister of the college. you can view the data form training and placement cell handle of jgec

Fees and Financial Aid

Being an government college the fees structure is so appropriate and very low. the total cost of my study including eight semister is 60000, where I get 60000 per year scholarship through a single scholarship program(SVMCM), and there are multiple scholarship options.

Campus Life

there are so many clubs and community including technical, cultural, and social. you can discover yourself through all of this. If I talk about fest there are two cultural fest JECLAT & DEPICTA and a technical fest SHRISTI, also we have virtual development events like JWOC.

Hostel Facilities

hostel life is also very nice there are four different hostels for four different years and also an under constraction hostel for Mtech students. Meal quality is average but meal provided only two times a day (dinner and lunch) no breakfast or snacks. Fees for the hostel is also very low 2500 per month including meal. also you cam get PGs.

Hostel Fee: INR 32000 per year

Admission

to get admission in this college you have to apply for wbjee(west bengal joint entrance examination), any 12th pass science stream student can apply for this. the preparation for the test is same as jee consisting PCM only. to get admission you need to obtain atleast <4000 for general catagory, and <10000 for other catagory. the application process done through online counselling conducted by wbjee board. NOTE - only west bengal resident students can apply for this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

Placement Experience:

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester,when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more.The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately.The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where.But last year the percentage placed is 70%.

Overall the placement percentage of the college is good for both the core and non-core courses almost near 90%. All the students in there 3rd year i.e. in their 5th or 6th semester are elegible for campus placements. Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
