Top NITs, DTU, NSIT, leading state colleges, and rapidly advancing IITs are all quite similar when it comes to placements.

In some, you may find:

  • The best infrastructure and curriculum
  • Better research opportunities
  • A stronger alumni base

Overall, it’s pretty much the same. The key focus should be on choosing the best branch.

I've seen students from top IITs struggle due to not having an emerging or evergreen branch, while students from private or local colleges with trending branches excel.

So, if you have the option to choose among these colleges but with a better branch in one, go for it!

NOTE: Ultimately, it all depends on the individual's attitude. This answer reflects my perspective. If you are determined, nothing can stop you from succeeding. There are countless examples of successful people who started with nothing. You are still getting something!

JAI HIND!

I think the placements and ROI for NIT Trichy B.Tech Computer Science Engineering are stronger than those for DTU B.Tech Mathematics and Computing. NIT Trichy has a reputation for high placement rates, especially in tech branches, and companies like Adobe offer impressive internships with stipends around 1 lakh, which is a significant advantage. While DTU has big-name companies visiting and a highest package of 1.25 crore, the overall placement scenario seems more favorable at NIT Trichy, especially considering the competitive advantage of a Computer Science degree.

Both colleges have similar fee structures around 10 lakh, but NIT Trichy might offer better scholarships and campus job opportunities. So, if you're looking for more assured placements and a solid return on investment, NIT Trichy is the smarter choice. DTU might be better if you really want to explore Mathematics and Computing, but overall, NIT Trichy is where the financial sense lies for tech careers.

DTU B.Tech Mathematics and Computing has a solid placement framework with companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting students, and the highest package reaching 1.25 crore in 2025, which is impressive. However, NIT Trichy's B.Tech Computer Science Engineering seems to have an edge in internship opportunities, as I know a friend who secured an Adobe internship with a 1 lakh stipend, and their placement prospects are closely tied to CGPA. While both colleges have similar tuition fees and offer scholarships, NIT Trichy might be better for those specifically focused on tech roles due to its strong connections and internship placements. I’d suggest opting for NIT Trichy if you want a more hands-on experience in tech, but if you're drawn to mathematics and want to explore diverse roles, DTU is still a great choice.

The top NITs (Trichy, Suratkal, Warangal) generally have an edge over NSIT/DTU when it comes to branch-wise placements.

For example:

  • Chemical Engineering placements at DTU aren't great.
  • But for NIT Trichy? Don't even get me started!

Both DTU's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing and NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offer solid programs, but they cater to slightly different interests. DTU has a well-updated curriculum and strong internship opportunities with companies like Google and Microsoft, making their placement scene quite impressive with top packages reaching 1.25 crore. In contrast, NIT Trichy's focus on Computer Science might be more appealing for those wanting a direct tech career, and while placements also depend heavily on CGPA, students report getting decent internships. Personally, I’d recommend DTU for those inclined towards mathematics and its applications in tech, while NIT Trichy is great for a straightforward CS path with a vibrant campus life.
