3 sharing rooms for 1st year and single occupancy for 2nd year separte alimarah for each student and commaon bathroom for the whole floor hostel and mess fess is included commonly that we have to pay for half yearly basis we can opt for outside the Campus if u don't want to stay in the hostel 4-5 students are day scholar in our class only

For boys in room 3 person live with 3 chai and 2 table . There are 3 cubard and 1 slab . Bed and chair are not comfortable.meal depand upon mess to mess some provide good but some don't . For hostel and mess it semester wise fee and mess registration it done every 2 month. You can change mess after 2month

The mess here are not that good, like you'd expect a good mess for a college with a title of No.1 NIT but the messes are just subpar at best, the food quality is okayish and cleanliness is at an acceptable leve;

Hostel Facilities:

Hostels are decent i think in first year there are 3 people in a single room, while room can hold three people the cupboards provided are for only two peoples so you have to make do by having some mutual trust.the bathrooms are decent and are cleaned regularly so not much probem in this aspect just sometimes there's issues of water shortage that lasts upto days sometimes. earlier there used to be problems like 5 rooms using a single wifi which is providing terrible speeds, one water cooler per hostel and no washing machine. But now there is individual wifi in each and every room and there is water cooler on every floor and there is automatic washing machine in every hostels. registeration for hostel is simple you get randomly alloted the hostel in first year after paying the fee on college website and for second year hostel you again get randomly alloted the rooms when you go with your decided roomate.

Poor facilities in the hostel and departments
Hostel administration, especially for girls, is hostile and unapproachable. Sexist curfew rules only for girls.

Hostel Facilities:

Room has Wi-Fi router, a desk, chair, table, wardrobe, shelf, fan, tubelight, 2 charging ports and a bed. Girls ahve 2 messes - north and south. Food quality is fairly decent. Boys have 7-8 messes, each with a different menu. Wahsrooms have 2 washing machines per floor (unless they are broken) and 1 western toilet per floor except the older hostels.

Hostels just underwent a renovation but my hostel(Garnet A)is still under renovation phase....This is one of the only hostel that doesn't have a washing machine so we find it really difficult to wash our jeans and all stuff

Both NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal have good hostel facilities. Let me point out the facilities that you will get at NIT Trichy hostel.

The first thing that the students enjoy at NIT Trichy is the unlimited wifi during the 4 years of stay at the hostel.
We also have a hospital from where you can get medical facilities free of cost.
There are 22 boys hostels. On every floor, we have a TT room and an air-conditioned TV room.
You can complain about any electrical equipment which has been damaged or out of order and it will be taken care of within 2-3 days.
We also have Naturals Hair Salon and CCD. The canteen facilities are amazing and they are open till 2 AM.
The hostel rooms are spacious and you will share the room with another roommate.
You are allowed to buy your washing machine. However, there are laundry facilities as well.

Freshers are allotted rooms on a first come first serve basis, at the time of registration. So you’ll get a room with random people, based on who all register at the same time as you. 3 or 4 fresher boys share a single room. From second year onwards, boys can choose their roommate.The rooms allotted to senior boys are two seaters. Second year rooms are also given on a first come first serve basis, and they’re allotted through the online portal. The allocation starts towards the end of first year.

Fresher girls are given just one option i.e. Opal Hostel. So for them, there’s no question of the best or worst hostel. As for boys, Diamond, Agate, Coral and Jade, all are equally good. But Coral and Agate are the closest to LHC, where fresher classes are conducted. Diamond gets the best Wifi speed, but the others aren’t far behind.

I have lived some of the best years of my life at NIT Trichy. Don’t worry, whichever hostel you get, you’ll have a memorable first year at this college.

The NIT Trichy campus is covered in greenery and located away from the main city. Because of this, the campus weather is comparatively pleasant. The common mode of transportation for students within the campus are bicycles. No powered vehicles, including motorcycles are allowed for students.

Boys are strictly prohibited from entering the girls’ hostels. Fresher boys are allotted double and triple sharing rooms in one of the four hostels (Garnet A,B,C- double sharing rooms, Agate- triple sharing rooms). Garnet C does not have a proper water filter, so try avoiding that hostel.

The campus is ragging free, and senior boys are not allowed inside fresher hostels. All the fresher hostels are decent. The hostellers of NITT have access to free wifi. The second year hostels are the same as fresher hostels, but they have lifts. There are three hostels for 2nd year boys.

The hostel facility is thus, quite decent at NIT Trichy.

Students dont get to choose their roommates in the first year but can do so from the second year.
The rooms and hostels are changed every year.
The girls' hostel has a variety of facilities from several messes for eating, to a baker, a photocopy shop, a basketball court, an air-conditioned computer lab, a laundry shop, and a beauty salon.

Hostel life in NIT Trichy is amazing. If you are a first-time hostelite like me, full of amazing hostel memories. I will break my answer into various hostels and the kind of life they offer.

Agate: Agate is the biggest hostel for first-year students and has spacious rooms. It is in close proximity to the mess and the lecture hall. Diamond: This is the most popular hostel for first-year students and has the best amenities. The hostel rooms are spacious and the hostel is near both the mess and the lecture hall. The hostel is well-ventilated and mostly the residents are DASA students.
Coral: This hostel has smaller rooms and the first floor has many insects. But it’s near the non-vegetarian mess, the LHC, and the campus Big Bazaar.
Jade: This one is not far away from both the mess and the LHC. It's a recently made hostel, especially for first-year students. It’s in close proximity to the shopping complex with a huge ground in its back.
Opal (Girls Hostel): This is one of the finely designed and equipped hostels This is a huge protected fortress. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable and you will find all kinds of facilities like messes, a bakery, a beauty salon, a photocopy shop, sports fields, an air-conditioned computer lab, and a laundry shop.

The hostel facilities provided in NIT Trichy are excellent. There are many hostels in this college but the best hostel for the students is the Diamond hostel.

Diamond hostel: The facilities available inside this hostel are amazing and the ventilation available inside the rooms is top class. The hostel is located in a very good spot with the mess, canteens, and lecture halls are nearby. There are also two well-maintained rooms which are specially made to play table tennis.

There are some other hostels too inside the NIT Trichy campus which are as follows.

Agate: The location of this hostel is excellent but there are a lot of issues with the wifi speed and the ventilation available is not good.
Jade: This hostel is also very good and is above average in everything except for the location of the lecture rooms and the canteen is very far away from the hostel and it is a big disadvantage.
Coral: The location of this hostel is as good as agate but the condition of the rooms inside this hostel is very poor.

Before choosing a room, do check out the wifi speed personally as slow wifi speed can be very frustrating and it consumes a lot of time while accessing the internet.

One of my friends stays nearby Tiruchirappalli. According to him, unfortunately, NIT Trichy is located in a place called Thuvakudi which is at a distance of 20 km and 40 km from Trichy and Thanjavur respectively.

There are only villages around the college which means you won't get any hotels nearby.
You might have to stay in one, as it is one of the many options provided by Trichy.
The nearest hotel is pretty good, it is Hotel Grand Gardenia. You can check it out from the traveling websites.
Also, there are a lot of other cheap hotels within 200 m of the bus stand.
Sangam is one of the best hotels in Trichy. It is also quite near to the main bus stand.
SRM is also equally good.
For your stay in Trichy, Ramya's Hotels is the best hotel which is near to the Railway Station and Central Bus Stand.
They have different types of rooms according to the guest's expectations.

My brother stayed in the hostels at NIT Trichy for 4 years. As per his experience, the weather is mostly hot with heavy rainfall during certain seasons.

The factor of adaptability is the first thing you will be required here.
Be prepared for waiting in a queue for a shower. You will be facing situations where you have to be very punctual.
Hot water would also not be available during the winter season.
There are numerous shops available on campus where you can purchase items for daily necessities.
Few things that you can pack for your hostel at NIT Trichy include: Bedsheets, Pillow covers, Towels and Clothes.
If you are cautious about your skin, then I would suggest that you pack a sunscreen lotion as you can get sunburns at the hostel.
You can pack a pair of formal shirts and pants for formal occasions. Although, for classes, it is not mandatory to wear something formal.
Additionally, you can carry along a kettle with you if you like eating Maggi or late-night snacks.
