Campus Life and Opportunities at NIT Trichy

Likes

Infrastructure is good, with new and good design buildings. Sports complex is there where students can play numerous sports like badminton,tennis,basketball,etc.Gym facility is also there.
Professors are helpful and cooperative, they clear all our doubts related to academics. Student council is there which is run by students and NITT has students supremacy there ,all the majority work is dine by students here

Dislikes

I don't like Home state reservation.This affects the surrounding ,major South Indian people sticks to their groups and does not communicate with North Indians.
Hostels are old ,and there is not any facility of washing machine, while other NIT colleges have this facility.

Admission:

NIT Trichy is one of the top ten enginering colleges in India with bright minds of the country.Placements are good here and production is a chill course and people in this branch gets many time to explore other things like coding, management and other extracurricular activities. Admissions are based on jee mains ranks and average cutoff is around 98.5 percentile for general students.

NIT Trichy Experience thus far

Campus is large, with adequate sports facilities. There are 2 gyms with varying levels of equipment functionality. Infrastructure is above average for all departments.
Central Library was a Big Yes for me. Has all genres of books and enough seating capacity.

Some hostels have old infractructure without proper drinking water availability. 3 occupancy rooms for 1st years make it a bit congested and off putting.
The campus is very far from any urban centres so there are very few places for entertainment. There can also be language barrier for North Indians outside the campus

I got NIT Warangal Metallurgy in the first round of JoSAA counselling as well as NIT Srinigar IT in the second and third rounds. Chose Production at NITT over them because I dont like Coding or Metallurgy but am enthusiastic about operations and supply chain. The admission happens through JoSAA counselling on the basis of JEE Main scores. Above 98.5 percentile is safe scote for General Males. 98 percentiles should be enough for OBC and EWS males(both other state). For females decrease 1 percentile each.

4 years which cant be forget in whole life

I like the environment with full of tress and lush green atmosphere
the professors who are extremely experienced and approachable

curfew for girls ,Girls shouldnt go after 9pm
Every process is an offline process and so lengthy

I got a decent rank in JEE Advanced and I had an option to opt a decent and well profound IIT.But I am very paticular about my department that I want to opt for EEE . I got IIT Bhilai EEE compared to that NIT Trichy was best in NIRF ranking and near to my hometown and secured state.The placements for NIT Trichy and as it is established before 60 years the alumni of NITT is so well settled.

All the gorgeous fests and programs that happened
Huge support from senior and alumni side.

A bit of patriarchy in few places due to more security for girls
Not great washrooms and water facilities

I appiled to all nits and iits. But i settled with nit trichy because of its huge alumni and support system linked with all the well known colleges in tamilnadu. It is best in providing many resources needed. You get help from each nook and corner in this campus. Clearance of jee main with a percentile higher than 99 will give you a fixed seat in nit trichy. Admission went as smooth as possible.

A Review on Nit Trichy

Lots of research opportunities are provided for the students there is good lab and Research facilities new upgrades are made to the department buildings every year in order to provide top notch education to the students of nit trichy.
The campus has a shopping complex at provides basic necessity for students for their everyday life

The hostels can be improve as the buildings are old and ancient
The teaching system requires the students to already know the subject they are studying

I chose this college due to it's good placements and reputation in the engineering education field. comapring to other colleges nitt has better education standards and more oppurtunities provided to grow in our careers. the oppurtunities are limitless.the admission process is quite smooth and non troublesome.

Curfew for girls. This is the thing i think that my college is backdated or old fashioned .
Wifi in hostel is not upto the standard which also i donot like that much.

I chosed nit trichy first because of nirf ranking, secondly i have heard about its names and i thought of joining it as i was not able to get to top 7 iits so i thought nut trichy can be a option then . In my preperation to competitive exams approach there may be some mistake so i could not be able to handle the pressure of advance.even though rank was around 10k but not enough for top 7 iits being a general student

NITT college life experience

Admin roles, personally i was part of students council through which i got so much exposure dealing with all aspects of managements exist in NITT, it is a very good learning experience
clubs, I am part and head of dance troupe, we attended many competitions on is HHI, we even got selected to represent to INDIA in HHI finals in USA for 2024, arizona

not speeding up the processes, many signs need for everything being a central govt college
not too updation in curriculum with current growing speed of technology

my first prefernce is nitt given its nirf ranking and facilities given to students i have tried for jee advanced for iits but couldnt make because i didnt study during covid iit jee mains is the acceptamce exam for this college, cutoffs vary every year, no particular range but are available on internet for bettr accuracy, overall admission process is smooth and easy and organised

Clubs, Sports teams, festivals of all sorts are available,

Gender discrimination is very common in many criterias.
Location of the college is too far from any city, have to travel a lot for purchasing anything

VIT vellore. Didn't choose VIT because of the NIT Trichy tag. Very powerful when it comes to placements inside and outside campus. The degree from NIT trichy has very high value. The alumni connections are very strong. I didn't get rejected since i haven't applied for many other colleges. The admission process is clearly explained in nitt.edu website. Eligibility is clearing jee with appropriate percentile. overall admission experience was alright
