I would choose DTU over most NITs, except for NIT Trichy. Delhi Technological University, located in the capital, boasts a stunning 150-acre lush green campus—it's truly a dream come true. While NITs are excellent institutions, some of them don't quite measure up to DTU. Only the top 2–3 NITs can be compared to DTU, and even then, DTU stands out.
DTU has a remarkable legacy and a strong reputation. The average package ranges from 15–20 LPA. The faculty at DTU consists of PhDs from prestigious institutions, ensuring a high-quality education. The research facilities are also top-notch. The peer learning experience is fantastic, with a diverse and talented student body.
Here are some key points:
Therefore, I prefer DTU over NIT. Being a student at DTU, I can confidently say that you will fall in love with college life, and the opportunities here will significantly enhance your personality. Thanks for reading!
I’m surprised this is even a question! Of course, DTU IT is your best option if you’re aiming for solid tech placements from a reputed college. There’s really no comparison between these choices, regardless of the cutoffs.
So, I would strongly recommend going for DTU IT if you have the chance. DTU has been compared to the top 3 NITs for decades. Numerous companies visit DTU every year that don’t recruit from any NIT/IIIT (except IIIT Hyderabad). Examples include Twitter, Tower Research, etc. There are also many international recruiters that come on-campus at DTU (e.g., Uniqlo from Japan, Landmark Group from Dubai), while international recruiters rarely visit any NIT/IIIT.
DTU's B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering offers impressive placement stats, with a highest package of INR 82.05 LPA and an average of INR 25.22 LPA for 2025, plus strong internship opportunities with top companies like FAANG. In contrast, NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering also has solid prospects, with a good curriculum and on-campus internships, but lacks the high package figures seen at DTU. Therefore, if you're aiming for higher salary packages and a broader range of tech internships, DTU is likely the better choice, while NIT Trichy may appeal more if you’re inclined towards mechanical engineering and a more traditional approach.
DTU's B.Tech in Electronics & Communication offers a strong ROI with its placement stats showing a highest package of INR 82.05 LPA and an average of INR 25.22 LPA, which is impressive considering the fee of INR 2,29,000 for the first year. In contrast, NIT Trichy's B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering has a similar curriculum but may not match DTU's placement stats, especially since it has a higher overall fee structure and limited scholarship options compared to DTU's various financial aids. If you’re looking for better placement opportunities and a vibrant campus life, DTU is the smarter financial choice. However, if you have a strong interest in mechanical engineering and prefer the NIT brand, then NIT Trichy could still be worthwhile, but it may not offer the same value for money as DTU.
If you're considering placements, here's the scoop:
In summary, if you're leaning towards IT or electronics, go for DTU without hesitation! But if your passion lies in mechanical engineering, then NIT Trichy is the way to go. Choose based on your interests!
