The NEET 2025 Result has officially been declared by NTA today on 14th June 2025, along with the scorecard and the topper list. A NEET score of 649 to 500 is considered to be a good score in NEET 2025. As the competition level in NEET 2025 was high, some students are unsure about the NEET 2025 Good Score.

  • If a candidate scores above 700, it is considered to be an excellent score, which will increase the chances of admission into the top government medical colleges of India, such as AIIMS, JIPMER and Madras Medical College.
  • The Score range of 650 to 700 is considered a good score; candidates who score in this range can get admission into the state government medical colleges.
  • If a candidate scores in a range of 550-650, they can get a seat in a good government medical college, in the 2nd or 3rd round of counselling, and if a candidate from the SC/ST Category scores 550 marks can get a high rank in NEET UG 2025.

A score of below 550 gets you admitted to some private medical colleges in India. It will be challenging to get a seat in a Government Medical college. However, the score is considered very good for SC/ST candidates.

Subject-Wise Good Score in NEET 2025

The NEET UG exam is conducted with a total of 720 marks, with Biology ( Botany + Zoology) of 360 marks, Chemistry of 180 marks, and Physics of 180 marks.

In order to get a good score of 650 marks, candidates need to score good marks in individual subjects to get into the top government colleges.

Subject Total Marks Good Score Range Remarks
Biology (Botany + Zoology) 360 340+ Biology has the highest weightage; strong performance here is essential.
Chemistry 180 160+ Generally considered the scoring subject, NCERT-based questions are common.
Physics 180 150+ Usually, the toughest; a good score here can give you an edge.

Biology consists of 50% of the paper so scoring 340+ in this will help to secure a good score in NEET 2025. Similarly, for Chemistry, candidates can easily score around 160+ as it is considered to be an easy paper as compared to the other two. If a candidate scores good marks in these two subjects, then scoring 140-150+ in Physics is considered to be a good score.

Why is it important to score a Good Score in NEET 2025?

As per previous trends, it is expected that candidates who will score a good score in NEET 2025 around 650+ can get All India Rank (AIR) of around 850–1700. This range of rank will confirm seats in top-tier government medical colleges through the 15% All India Quota (AIQ).

The competition is very high as the number of seats in government colleges is limited. For candidate from General category, it is expected that candidates of top 3–5% of total candidates have a chance to get admission to top institutes like Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), VMMC, UCMS, King George's Lucknow, and Madras Medical College as these colleges accept students with scores of 650 or more.

So, while 600–630 might get you a seat in some government colleges under the state quota, 650+ gives you access to the best government institutions in India.

So candidates must fully participate in state quota as well as AIQ rounds.
