Fees and Financial Aid

I am studying in government college so the fees are not very high. The admission fees is around ?1600 and the exam fees for each semester is about ?1300. The total fees of my college are around ?5000per year . The college provides nsp Scholarship for sc/st and obc students to support them financially.During my graduation I filled out the Scholarship every year but didn't get any benifit except in final year . Now I am doing my masters from the same college and again filled out the Scholarship foam but I didn't recieve any scholarship while the sc/st students got theirs Scholarship on time obc students including me didn't get any benifit from it. The fees are same for all students, and the college also gives cashprize to top 3 students of each class .since it is a government college the fees are quite affordable.

Campus Life

I have mention before that this was a government college so it doesn't havw grand fests like private colleges.there are only few funtions, conduct inclding annual function. The library has all the basic books for all Subjects and a sitting area for students to study, but not many books in english, which can be a problem for english medium students including me and some of my friends.some classes have projectors for better understanding, but i have mention before my classroom was is small,so it doesn't have one.sports are also conducted, and students sometimes get trophies ,medels or cash prizes to motivates them . overall i really like this college because my teaches are supportive .

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio for the Bachelor's degree was 100:5. We had mentors assigned for any personal or social issues if any. Since it is an all women's college, the teacher student bond is more close and friendly. During my BA and MA courses, my best experience was with Dr Supriya madam. She has been a great mentor and guide for both academic and personal issues. The faculties are readily approachable and easy to commute. For exams, we have 2 mock tests a year and 1 semester exam. The questions are of moderate to difficult level. No students failed the MA course, while a few had a back semester in the BA course.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since Ranchi Women's College is a government college, the admission and examination charges are too less in comparison to other colleges. For Masters and Bachelors of Arts degree, the yearly charges are INR 3000-5000 only. There are no caution fees or lab fees for arts degree. For other reserved categories, the yearly fees is just INR 2000/- You may deifnitely get scholarhsips on BA level for reserved category candidates.

The fee was not really the intention of the college but for the basic facilities we were asked to pay 3500. We were given a scholarship named E- Grantz through which most of the amount we paid were reimbursed. There are numerous scholarship that have been made accessible by the college.

Faculty

The students had a semester system to measure their academics skills and intelligence. We had an updated and well structed syllabus which was also designed to help students qualify UGC NET and other competitive exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm doing my MA in English Literature from LPU Online, and the total fee is 58000/- for the full 2 years- around 29000/- per year. At the time og registration they took 10000/- which was compensated with the fees later. Scholarship was offered to me where the fees was deducted by a few thousands- excatly I don't remember. They do sometimes give discounts during admission season. So far, I have completed my 3 semesters and have recently paid 14500 for my last sem. The study aterial is good, lectures are recorded and live both, and the LMS is pretty smooth. It's flexible, and you can manage it along with a job or other studies. Honestly, it's a decent choice if you're looking for an affordable and recognized online degree.

Faculty

Most of our online classes have 20-30 students, and usually 1 faculty handles the subject- so the faculty- to student ratio is pretty decent. They do respond to queries but how approachable they are vaires. Faculty I Liked: Dr Bhawana Sharma (for theory) and Ms. Deepika Malik ( for poetry). They explain concepts and keep classes engaging. But a few others just read slides and barely interact. The course is didvided into 4 semseters with a mix of classics, theory, and modern texts. Exams are held online but strictly invigilated- 2 hours with camera and mic on, and they watch you live. Assignments- 30% and finals 70%

I think the campus life is boring because the area is too remote and due to the racism it is sometimes hard to get involve in social activities as there are constant stares by people. We have annual program call spandan where all the states performes in competitions, it is usually held in February i think.we have a good library and u think there is good amount of novels and journals that we need in it.

Course Curriculum Overview

Since I wanted to become an English Professor, the course really helped me a lot in getting an insight into English Literature. The professors are very encouraging. The curriculum not only relies on the traditional method of teaching but also various co curricular activities are conducted to prepare the students for the real world. Each student is given an opportunity to prove herself. As the exams are conducted annually we get a lot of time to prepare accordingly.

The mode is CBCS (Choice based credit system), here we are allowed to select the specialization of our choice from the given list of subjects. There is also an extra credit subject that can be chosen from the subjects offered by other departments too.

I have completed both my graduation and post graduation from here and one thing I know the method of teaching is such that students know what they are being taught and no superficial knowledge is provided. Complete knowledge is imparted to the students. The faculty members have a good hand for their respective subjects. The idea of conducting CTs and QTs and giving one topic every day to submit it before the assembly the next day is the best way to keep the students busy. The aim is to keep the recently taught topics fresh in the mind of the students and make them revise what they had learnt the previous day. The fees is so economical that it can be easily affordable by everyone.

Placement Experience

The course i did from the college does not require placements. But yes, in other courses like MBA, BCOM,ENGINEERING, BBA etc. campus placements happen and you do get good placements in good companies. The packages are not below 300000-400000 lakhs After my degree, I am currently working as a content writer as per my skills. i have worked with international and national businesses.

There is a wide range of books and journals in the library. Technology wise infrastructure is not updated. It needs lot of improvement. Course Curriculum Overview

I love literature and want to become a writer in the future. For this reason I chose arts stream and studied English literature. The curriculum fully supports the students to excel in their careers both in academic line as well as public servant jobs. From writing CV to application, Resume, and even to face interviews, this course prepared me for upcoming big events in my career. My soft skills developed especially after i joined this course and University. In every six months a semester is conducted by the University, it does not bias on markings, as the paper is checked outside the University. The difficulty level of these exams is moderate to hard.

Faculty

There are total 9 faculty members including the professors. There mainly 4 professors, the head of the department, 2 assistant professor and 1 associate professor. Apart from professor there are 5 phd scholars who teach along with doing their phd. My classroom consisted of 31 students. The faculty is friendly and encouraging, all of them have their unique teaching methods which everybody seems to grasp and enjoy during the session. I personally liked our HOD and the three professors, they are real professionals who guided me throughout my journey of Masters degree in English.

There is a mentor assigned to every single student who takes care of the needs and problems, and there is a mental meeting one or two weeks to assure smooth learning process. The best faculty that English department Has is Dr. Ajoy Batta. There are midterm exams and end term exams every semester.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is pretty relevant to the contemporary and historic times, and it also gives you an edge because the curriculum involves a lot of activities and practice based, or we can say practical based activities and assignments which may include research papers. The faculty members were very good and welcoming. They had a very good relationship with their students, be in context of studies or problem solving. TS sir, CD ma'am, GT ma'am and AKB sir were the best professors. The way they taught was quite capturing and interesting. The examination was conducted by The University of Calcutta, and the marking scheme was more or less difficult. Students had to put in lot of jargons to go through the paper in order to pass with flying colours. The course was very significant not only in terms of books and faculty but also relevant for life.

Campus Life

The campus and social aspects was amazing. The infrastructure was on point. The library had all types of books, so getting access to it was easy. UMANG is the annual festival held here. Different stars come and perform. Kailash Kher, Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aryan amongst others have performed here. The classroom was well furnished with projectors which made it easy for the professors to display their presentations for better understanding. The canteen was very good

Ans. It’s not too late to prepare for the entrance exam MA in English program at Delhi University even in the 3 years of your bachelor's. Just be regular at it and keep some important points in mind.   Be well versed in your BA course- Read your text thoroughly and in various aspects. Read diverse critical essays on each text to attain a multiplicity of perspectives. In case you are graduating from a different subject, refer to the BA(Hons.) DU syllabus.   Read History of English literature- Knowing the roots is a basic step. To get an idea of the basic chronology and ages refer to these books: A short history of English literature by Sir Ifor Evans. A brief history of English literature by Peck & Coyle.   Indian Literature in English- To get enough knowledge of the same refers to these books: A concise history of Indian literature in English by Arvind Mehrotra. Ques. How is the English MA course in IGNOU University?

● Top Answer By Padmini Alina on 20 Oct 22

Ans. It is extremely convenient to pursue an M.A. in English through IGNOU. The only problem is that the course materials are delivered very late. However, you are not required to rely on or wait for the materials. Because the materials remain the same year after year, they can be obtained from anyone who has already completed the course or from used bookstores. To be honest, the material isn't much help. In fact, guidebooks are more beneficial because they also provide you with the previous year's question papers, which are extremely helpful in understanding the exam question pattern, and once understood, you are guaranteed to score above 55% on your first attempt. You have five years to complete your course, which consists of eight credits, four in the first year and four in the second. It is mandatory to submit the assignment for the paper you wish to sit for during the exams, which are held twice a year. It is entirely up to you whether to take all exams at once or spread them out over all ten semesters. In short, if you are determined, you can complete your master's degree in two years by taking two papers each semester. Contact classes are scheduled; if possible, attend them as they will get you started on your preparation and keep you motivated.  Doing some research for your assignment and attempting to keep your answer original rather than copying from the guide will increase your chances of getting good grades on the assignments. If you fail a paper in the semester exam, you have the option of retaking it in subsequent semesters until you achieve a passing mark. So, get the reference books, analyze the question pattern, turn in your assignment, and begin studying for the exam.Read more

Ques. Is EFLU, Hyderabad good for pursuing an M.A. in English, if one has gotten a degree in English from DU? What is its ranking among the top universities for humanities?

● Top Answer By Vinit Ghose on 15 Jul 21

Ans. EFLU is an exclusive university for English. There are 29 departments, out of which 20 are in English. With so many micro-specialties, pursuing an MA in English from EFLU is a great option. The university gives a lot of freedom in choosing subjects in post-graduation. Post-graduation applicants get a pool of subjects to choose from in their degree at EFLU. EFLU conducts only one entrance test for admission in all streams. If you clear the entrance test you will get the chance to choose whichever subject you want to pursue. You can either choose all subjects from one department only or select subjects from several departments if you want to have a mixed degree. Even, you are allowed to change subjects till two weeks of the course. The linguistic department of EFLU is very famous all over India, because of its quality of education. It has a world-class set of faculties in the department, along with an extensive library for helping students in their coursework. The literature department of EFLU is not as good as other central universities in India. Although there are excellent professors here too, the scope for students in literature is limited. Considering the quality of the linguistics department in EFLU, it is a great option for English graduates. Because of the cafeteria system of choosing subjects, there is a lot of diversity in the department.Read more

Ques. How do I write a good answer in the exam of a Master of Arts English MEG at IGNOU and other universities?

● Top Answer By Anu Mehta on 03 Nov 22

Ans. Here are two of the major points that are helpful in writing a good answer in the exam for an MA in English: The answer must start with an excellent introduction to the writer and the text. Then, there should be good content, sticking to the point. The answer must end with an eminent conclusion.  The answer must not be written in a storytelling way. Students are supposed to answer what the question is asking them to explain, the theme, the character, and the point of view attached to the question. Whatever answer students write, it must be revolving around giving proper reasons, perspectives, and possible central ideas that a question is trying to ask. The answer must not be diverting and stretching, without providing any appropriate conclusion.Read more
