Course Curriculum Overview
I love literature and want to become a writer in the future. For this reason I chose arts stream and studied English literature. The curriculum fully supports the students to excel in their careers both in academic line as well as public servant jobs. From writing CV to application, Resume, and even to face interviews, this course prepared me for upcoming big events in my career. My soft skills developed especially after i joined this course and University. In every six months a semester is conducted by the University, it does not bias on markings, as the paper is checked outside the University. The difficulty level of these exams is moderate to hard.
Fees and Financial Aid
During my masters course in English literature, the registration fees was 4535/- per year, as a general category student. For ST category students the fees is 3,815/- and for SC category, 2815/-. The college takes annual fees charge. This fee is different with accordance to different departments. Girls with SC and ST have scholarship facilities as well. Every month they take 1700 as mess fees and 5000 establishment fees in every 6 month interval.
Campus Life
Basanti Utsav is hosted by our college, a variety of fests and events throughout the year, including student led activities, department specific events, and club organised initiatives. Other events like millet fest, alumni meet and diverse cultural events that showcase different regions in India . Cultural harmony and diversity club organises events that celebrate western Odisha. Inter University Literary and Cultural Fest , that celebrates cultures and literature, fostering understanding and engagement with authors.
Admission
For my MA degree I applied for CPET exam , and my score was 65.7 which was moderate. I got selected in few colleges but they were distant from my house. In the second slot, I got selected in this university, at first I was disappointed, I saw the parks and joined finally. This university did improve my self-esteem and confidence. My batchmates were every smart and encouraging, they would force me to participate in extracurricular activities, such as debates, speeches, dancing etc. So overall, it was worth it.
Faculty
There are total 9 faculty members including the professors. There mainly 4 professors, the head of the department, 2 assistant professor and 1 associate professor. Apart from professor there are 5 phd scholars who teach along with doing their phd. My classroom consisted of 31 students. The faculty is friendly and encouraging, all of them have their unique teaching methods which everybody seems to grasp and enjoy during the session. I personally liked our HOD and the three professors, they are real professionals who guided me throughout my journey of Masters degree in English.
Night Life
Although I'm not a hosteller but I have visited the college in the evening and it is so calming and peaceful that makes it a perfect studying environment. The campus has different playgrounds for different sports such as tennis, badminton, basketball court, as well as a open gym.
