Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fees i have paid is around ?16000 for all category student. This amount include tution fees, lab fees and the other compulsory charges . The fees structure of my course is affordable as compared to other private college . For complete duration of the course the total fees is approximately 36000to 45000 . The fees not increase much every year it remain constant. Fees for all student like my barchmates of any categories is same. Various scholarship are available in delhi university like fee concession, central and state scholarship . These scholarship help reduce the financial burden and make education available to all

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is good, most student are aporoachable and avialble after class. I like zoology and botany faculty beacause they are calm and helpfull nature solve all doubt of student There is no such faculty i donot like There are many exam like theory or practical. They are generally moderate. Mostly student passes the exam . The curriculum is relevant for higher study and competitive exam

Faculty

As my class has 60 students, for practical classes we have three teachers which is 1:20 and its good, the professors are friendly and really helps us a lot in providing notes. My favourite professor would be Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, she is really good in explaining and clears out all our doubts. Also Dr. Vidhi Chaudhary ma'am is one of the best teacher, she is like a mother to everyone and very sincere about everything. Everyone faculty is good, so I don't dislike anyone, everyone is accessible to me. Test depends on the professors, some are hard and some are easy, it also depends on the paper, papers like genetics and systematics are quite tough as compared to others. I guess two girls l, they didn't attend classes, so they were not upgraded to 3rd year. The curriculum is quite vast but time given to complete the syllabus is too less. Sometimes it really becomes hectic.

Fees and Financial Aid

Actually everyone had to pay the same fees at first, later on if someone belongs to backward caste then a certain amount is deducted. For students of less family income, they get certain scholarship based on merit. However the fees is increasing every year, last the college union protested so the fees was 33000 but this year again it increased and had to pay 34100. Since it's a government college, the fees should be a little moderate so that everyone has afford. The parent department also provides certain scholarship based on merit to the unprivileged students.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is quite good and the staff is approach able and available. The lab staff that I work with are really helpful and encouraging which makes the lab experiments less stressful. They are available whenever needed and assist with even the smallest issues. In the first year I have seven subjects from which three of them are discipline selective core subjects and we have exams accordingly. We are free to choose additional subjects based on our interests. A language subject like Hindi and EVS are compulsory in the course appearing alternately according to the semester. When you are well prepared exams are usually not hard to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview

I think the course curriculum is pretty relevant. We have plant systematics in the first year which makes is really helpful and fun to study. Through this we are able to actually identify plants and get a real feel for the subject. The labs are helpful as we perform experiments by ourselves allowing us to see and understand the theory better. We also have a few trips included which provide real life experience. I believe more field trips should be included as they help in providing hands on knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview

I did my class 12th with biology so biology was one of the option for me like zoology or botany but I like botany so I did it The curriculum prepares me real world applications like from it you would know actually how plants are imp for us and how it is good The area which can be improved like working hours of us students it is kind of irritating sometimes Exam happen two times in a year like in one year there are two semesters so it is hard to manage because course is so vast and exams timing is generally two hours

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is like 1 faculty is for almost 9-10 students it's not that approachable but college is trying by making a students mentee of the faculty members Prof monika koul, dr. Sahil mehta, prof vijay rani rajpal, prof aanand sonkar I don't like dr savita Singh, dr mandeep Exams are almost easy not like anyone will be fail if you don't write in the sheets then it'll be

Campus Life

I say with no hesitation that campus , social life of DU is the best !! DU colleges offers variety of societies for students to join and explore their interests and new learn new things . I am also in a society (wdc) and i have the best time in it . There are many sports and extracurricular activities . Every college organises an annual sports day. In Gargi college, 1 hr is given to ECA (extracurricular activity) every Tuesday for societies to organise their events. So every week there is something happening in the campus which is super fun . There also many events like PJ day , fashion designing and ramp walk. Taking about Annual fest !! Best time of the year . Gargi college annula fest is called Reverie and it happens in February/march . Its a 3 day fest where every societies participant from all colleges of du for various competitions. There are many food , game , cool stalls.

Course Curriculum Overview

The botany course have 3 subjects in each semester for which u have to give both practical and theory exam. In practical exam u have setups, spots, preparation and viva , i believe these things are really important as it gives a good insight of what we are studing in theory class . Overall practical classes are really nice and relevant wherase i find theory class not that relevant as some professors just give lecture from ppt which can be boring. There are 4 hrs dedicated to each practical class and 2 hr for each theory class in a week. The curriculum is not that hectic but its very fast paced so you have to keep up with it . Exams only happens at the end of semester and can last upto a month . There are only class test, assignments and vivas in between the semester .

Mostly the temporary teachers are not so thorough with their teachings. The semester consists of Mid Semester (20 marks) and End Semester (80 marks) and practical exam (20 marks)

Faculty

Faculty members are very supportive and help us every way possible. They are very punctual and perfection loving. Exams are held in semester wise pattern usually in nov-dec and April- may. We have to submit exam fees in every semester before exams and it ranges from 1000-2500. Marking scheme is distributed that is attendence , internal assessment, continuous assesment, mock exam, practical exam, theory exam and assignment all have different marks distribution according to department.

Course Curriculum Overview

My love for nature and plants leads me to choose this course. We spent 3 years in this course that comes with many challenges and teach us to how to face these challanges in given time and prepare us for our future as well. But the improvement area is our education system is more focused in writing work files, assignments and mug up things , it should be more practical based presentation, projects so that learning will be easy.

Ques. What is the admission process for B.Sc. Hons. Botany in Ravenshaw university and what is the cutoff?

● Top Answer By Rati Singh, on 16 Nov 21

Ans. Admission to Ravenshaw University (RU) is done purely on a merit basis. Your scores in class 10+2 examinations will determine your selection. First, fill-up the form and wait for the merit list. If you are selected in the first round, you will be needed to submit the documents with a demand draft of the amount mentioned.  If you are in the waiting list then also you will have to come to the college to submit the demand draft, showing your interest in taking admission. If you do not get selected, your draft will be returned. The cut-off marks usually change, so nothing could be said for sure. To get some idea about it you can check the previous year's cut off marks in the admission brochure.Read more

Ques. Which DU college should I opt SVC or KMC for B.Sc. Hons. Botany?

● Top Answer By Ahana Ghosh, on 21 Oct 21

Ans. Both colleges have their fair share of similarities and dissimilarities. Let me provide some facts about both of them, analyzing which you can move ahead with your decision. Both the colleges are excellent in their own way. The infrastructure of Science blocks is very good in both the colleges. Both colleges have diverse cultural societies. Players -The Dramatics Society of KMC, is one of the best in DU All colleges of DU have similar faculty. Some of them are exceptionally good, while others are average. KMC, being almost in the centre of North Campus, has its own perks. It is said to have better placements than South Campus colleges. The laboratories in the Botany and Zoology Departments of KMC are newly built.. The student crowd of KMC, however, is not as good as that of SVC.  The administration of KMC is pathetic.  The hostels of KMC aren't as good as those of SVC. However, they are Renovating to make it more attractive. Therefore, you can analyze these factors and compare the colleges, see what best suits your requirements, and finally go for it.Read more

Ques. Which is a better college for a B.Sc. in botany Ramjas or SVC?

● Top Answer By Milind Sen, on 21 Oct 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Ramjas College, so my answer might be a bit inclined towards it. But SVC is also a good institution, so the choice basically depends on that particular individual. Ramjas is located in the North campus while SVC is in the South campus. Ramjas is known to have the best faculty for Botany at Delhi University. They have a dedicated greenhouse for botany students in Ramjas. Both SVC and Ramjas have really good lab facilities.  ECA participation is almost the same in both colleges.  Ramjas has its own Model United Nations society, which SVC does not.  Also, Enactus Ramjas, which has been second in the nationals for 2 consecutive years, is far better than its SVC counterpart. Categories B.Sc. in Botany at Ramjas College B.Sc. in Botany at SVC Course Fee INR 80,895 INR 37,098 Highest CTC 12 LPA - Average CTC 6-7 LPA 4.4 LPA So, it all comes down to the fact where you want to live, grow and explore. Choose the one that suits your requirements the best.Read more
