The B.Sc (Hons.) Botany programme at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, is a 4-year full-time undergraduate course offered by the Department of Botany, Institute of Science, which is part of the DBT-supported Interdisciplinary School of Life Sciences (DBT-ISLS). The programme provides a comprehensive study of plant biology, covering plant morphology, anatomy, physiology, ecology, genetics, molecular biology, plant systematics, and economic botany, with strong emphasis on laboratory and field work. The total tuition fees for the course is Rs. 16,000 for the entire 4-year duration (Rs. 2,000 per semester), making it one of the most affordable botany programmes at a premier central university. Admission is based on CUET (UG) scores, and the department offers 72 seats. The course is offered in full-time, on-campus mode and is popular among students aspiring for careers in plant research, agriculture, environmental science, and postgraduate studies at IITs and other premier institutions.

Admissions for the 2026-27 session are upcoming. CUET UG 2026 registration closed in February 2026, and the exam is scheduled from May 11 to May 31, 2026. BHU's CAP (Combined Allotment Programme) portal for UG admissions is expected to open in July 2026, with seat allotment rounds likely in August 2026. The CUET 2025 Round 3 cutoff for General category was 559 marks, indicating high competition for this programme.
