Bethun College: a Reverie

Likes

The course structure is definitely a plus point of this college.
The faculty of of this college is very good.

Dislikes

The washroom of this college is very bad.
The quality of infrastructure is not upto par.

Faculty:

The faculty of English department is very good. The teaching methods and behaviour of college is upto the mark. Professors are friendly, kind and approachable. English department's faculty is the best as for me.

Likes

The Faculty is beautiful, So is the authority, They all are patient and understanding and they encourage you no matter what
Beautiful classrooms, Non- toxic environment, You will feel accepted

Dislikes

I wish there was more exposure to sports

Faculty:

The Faculty to student ratio is Good , Like You get 5-6 professors for every class with 30+ students, The faculty is Very approachable, helpful and friendly, They are very non judgemental. I love the whole faculty of Pol.sci department, they are beautiful human being inside out. There are 2 main exams, semester exams, other than that , There are internals and vivas

Likes

Environment of the college is very good. Our campus is full of trees which is also good for us as in our health.
College fest, it contains so many competitions like dance , songs etc

Dislikes

Cleanliness is very bad, washroom are not cleaned regularly rather washroom are cleaned arohnd after 1 months
They conduct college in Saturdays too, we have so many classes. They should reduce the no. Of classes atleast a bit .

Faculty:

Most of my teachers have done pHd which is a very good thing ,they are so knowledgeable. But teaching is a skill so i would say few teachers have a lot of knowledge but they are unable to provide that knowledge to us .

I would like to say the fees because most of the people in India face this money issue related to higher studies so i can say Calcutta university us a good option for all of them because it us actually a very affordable and renowned university
Secondly Calcutta university is one of the oldest University which is a plus point in studying

Dislikes

I dont no about the other colleges which fall under Calcutta university but our college is very dirty, cleanliness factor should me maintained
I would say the attendance issues actually this is not a disliked thing but many students have to face some issue regading their attendance

Faculty:

I would definitely say some colleges really have one of the best faculties, we have such a good faculty, and my professors are really very good and very supportive and friendly as well or how can I forget my friends i do have really good friends over there. Faculties are really good and educated they know what to say and what not and their behavior is also very good.

Bethune College-a review from an ex-Bethunite

Abundant greenery, good and helpful staffs,professors are very supportive and an overall good faculty
Many programmes held on special occasions, disciplined envioronment, well maintained campus facilities, strong sense of community

Faculty:

Faculty to student ratio is 8:20 The teachers are very supportive and engage the entire class in application based QnA sessions time to time . Syllabus is completed on time. Interactive sessions are often held during a lecture and after the completion of a lecture.

Bethune college from a student's perspective

The professors have a good teaching experience and they complete the syllabus in time. The college has two big libraries that contain all the books needed for every subject. The professors ensure that all students understand the matter and score well
The campus is huge with a great canteen service. The canteen food is affordable and tasty as well. They offer both veg and non veg options. Sports day events, inter and intra college competitions are also organised. Annual function is also organised.

Dislikes

The administrative work takes a long time. Sometimes the professors cancel the classes without any prior information. Some professors just read out of a ppt or a book. They are not super helpful or flexible when it comes to a student's need.
The campus is not super hygienic. There's dust on the desks and it felt like the bathrooms never got cleaned. The lifts don't work 70% of the time and you need to climb 200 stairs for every other class as they take place in different buildings/floor.

Faculty:

In our department, there were 5 professors (including the HoD) and 25 students in our class (2019-2022 batch). There were 12 post graduate students as well. 4 out of 5 professors have a PhD in Psychology. The HoD has a PhD in Organisational Psychology. All the professors taught decently. The students were also given the opportunity to make PowerPoint presentations and explain various topics to the class. There is also a lab for the practicals. The professors are quite easily approachable but they do not usually respond to texts. Your best bet would be approaching them at the campus itself (during the working hours) if you need them or you can give them a call for urgent matters. They are very strict about attendance and they expect the same attitude from the students' side as well. What I liked the most about the Psychology department is that they provide free of cost therapy to the campus students. So if anything ever bothers you, you can always let them know and receive desired help

The infrastructure is really well built and spacious
Faculty is helpful and respectful to students

Dislikes

The canteen is quite small to hold the crowd during lunch
Some washrooms are unuseable due to the unhygienic conditions

Faculty:

They are helpful and respectful to every student They are willing to help you out in every situation Not all teachers are friendly but they will help you out for sure if you need Interaction is limited to what we need the teacher for or for any kind of notice apart from that the teachers are never bothered by your personal life or our outlook which is really nice especially in a all girls college

Bethune college at a glance

Likes

The campus is so beautiful and a calm place to focus on studies. The whole campus is full of trees and also well maintained.
There are several buildings where each building contains 3-4 departments, a big auditorium, different libraries for science and arts subjects.

Dislikes

Libraries need an upgradation with new launched books which might help the students with their semester studies otherwise there are a lot of good old and high-level books

Faculty:

In my department most of the professors have done their PhD and some of them has their own research paper. They teaches so well and are friendly too. We can discuss our problems with them anytime not only study related but also any issues related to college or career overall my experience was good.

Everything about Bethunbari

Likes

The psychology department is the leading department of the college. Teachers are polite and excellent in their field. We have 3 labs in the department and enough inttuments.
We have a strict anti-ragging cell. Other than ragging we have right to complain against any type of harassment by faculty members. We have departmental libraries, archives, Science & arts library also.

Dislikes

The bathrooms are not clean and lack maintenance and water.
The lift in the psychology department is not working for 6-7 months but no one repaired it. It's problematic for pwd students, teachers and who have emergencies.

Faculty:

Teachers try to admit us whenever we need them. They teach us the easiest ways possible and conduct doubt clearance classes also. If they get busy with other faculty work they conduct online classes. We can ask them questions personally. We have a counseling cell also. Psychology professors run it and it's confidential. They make mentor groups also where they provide more knowledge about our subject other than the academic syllabus by showing films, suggesting books, and discussing topics face to face. We can also share our personal problems, any types of experiences, jokes, etc.

My College is the best

Faculty:

They were highly qualified, dedicated, focused, and supportive. Used to take individual care for every student. In every week the average number of lectures by each faculty were 2-3. Their average age were between 35 to 60. And all of them were post graduate with phd Or other higher qualifications. Our facilities used to give lecture in such a way that we could easily understand the topic as if like visualizing it. We hardly needed any extra tuition from outside.
