Beyond the brochure: The Real Bethune

Fees and Financial Aid:

I was admitted for my course by paying 4000 and semester fees somewhere range from rupees 300-1000 per semester. Humanities mostly have to pay under rupees 500 and science students above rupees 500. Scholarship such as SVMCM, AIKYASHREE, KANYASHREE. are provided, teachers including the office make sures to make every student apply for it. The criteria for application is scoring 60% in the last examination and belonging to a really BPL state. 12000/- AIKYASHREE/ SVMCM for humanities students and 18000/- for science students. The amount of KANYASHREE is somewhat about 25000/-.

The best female college

Bethune is the first female college in Asia. It is under university of Calcutta and a fully government college . The selection is done on merit basis and for general the cut off goes quite high. The teaching faculty is also best .

Bethune college

Teachers of political science Department is very good and supportive .they used to complete the syllabus on time and they used to teach us very well. We have also get schorship from the college like kanyashree and other minority scolarship and also swami vivekananda scholarship.We have to pay very less fees for thee year it is only 4000 and it provide all.there is also a big library which is very usefull.we used to get books which are needed for completing the syllabus.We also provide other activities to do there and to learn Different things All other Department teachers are also very good and well supportive .

Why you should not get here

The fee structure is same for everyone. It's 1950 per year and during admission it may take more. Also, you have to pay examination per semseter which will cost you 350 and if your attendance is low then you have to pay 100 rs extra. Here you'll get many scholarship opportunities so if you are eligible you may apply. However, I wasn't eligible but my classmates got the amount. They intorduce scholarships that government has launched for students.

The college provides many scholarship opportunities, however I did not apply for any of those and do not have much details for those. The fees for each semester is usually around Rs700 but can also go upto Rs2000.

Bethun College: a Reverie

There are scholarships available. The fees in Sem 1 was 1881 (admission) and tuition fees was 150. In Sem 2 the tuition fees is 450. The fees structure is definitely increasing. And as per the ST and SC i feel the fees is lower since they have many scholarships like Kanyashree and others.

My yearly fee is around 1400. tuition fees is around 110 rupees pwr month, admission was around 2 - 3K. There are so many scholarships for the studens who have studied from West Bengal Board, kanyashree and so many other scholarships are there. Bethune comes under the top ten cheapest colleges for girls, but on the basis of academics, it is very competitive to get a chance in such a good college.

Enjoyment with success

I am currently a student of Calcutta University which is a renounced university and falls among one of the oldest colleges, and universities. Since it is a government college the fees you can expect are very little affordable for almost anyone. Fees depend on the course you opt for like if you apply for a BA, your first year's fees will be around 1186 to 2000 I guess and if you opt for a BSc it will go a little more than 1371 and the next semester goes on so accordingly to me it's quite affordable.

Bethune College-a review from an ex-Bethunite

Tuition fee for Masters in Zoology is around 20k for 2 years course. Since it is a women colleg,students are given scholarship from state and central government. Swami Vivekananda Merit Scholarship,Single Child scholarship etc. There are various organizations that come here for career counselling as well and offer placements.
