Faculty

If I talk about the faculty members of my campus they are highly experienced and supportive. If i talk about my course sturucture or curicullum it is well precised and defined and is according to rules of UGC.In a semester there exams are scheduled 2 times first one is mid-term examination and second one is end-term examination.

Course Curriculum Overview

If I talk about the course curriculum it is well defined and precised and is regularly being updated on the decisions of UGC.In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness it is good and the main thing if I discuss is that it focuses on practical aspects more rather than on theory aspects.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am in psychology field and normally per year it's 160000 but I received merit scholarship so I am paying 80000 per year, 5000 extra for registration fee in my first year and every year extra 10000 were taken for any damages, for hostel based on room type the fee increase, i am paying 250000 and for boys we have up to 12 sharing I guess and for girls it's till 4 sharing and we don't have any one sharing rooms as of now in our university. For cse every year their fee is 300000 without any scholarship but the university have entrance exam so the fee might decrease based on the ranks.

Course Curriculum Overview

We have lab praticals which prepare us to do research and assessments if we want to do that after bachelors and I think it would be better if there are more psychology subjects instead of non psychology subjects and also I actually wish my university professors give us guidance for our future cause now the rules for psychology kept on changing so I somehow felt lost and need guidance. Few of my exams were very tough and some were so easy and sometimes they rush our exams like four exams in two days but sometimes they give us five exams for ten days

Campus Life

Campus life includes clubs, friends which is a very good environment in this university. Since it is a new u overworked new clubs are being formed constantly. All he students are indulges in different campaigns organised by clubs. There are clubs like dance, music, entrepreneurship, finance, football, badminton, literary cart etc. these makes the campus life very entertaining. 2 cultural feats gets organised in the university every year. Fest are not of very big scale and hi stay we're not very enjoyable, recently in fest jassi gill and Gourav Kapoor were invited but the fest was mot much of the entertainment.

Faculty

I have 6 subjects and faculties are excellent except of 2. Especially one in the foundation course that is mandatory for all the students of all courses, she makes the lecture boring and all the students are mostly sleepy during her lecture. Other one is Mohit sir that teachs so well and make the subject interesting and experiential. Includes every student through various class activities like debates, presentations which are actually interesting listen to. Exams are conducted twice in a semester. One is mid-Sen exams and other one in end sem. Sometimes class tests also happen but they are rare in my course.

Psychology Department staffs were filled with doctrates who had lots of publication, So they really had the potential to deliver the best , and the system of the department was really planned the synchronisation between the student and staffs was really good without any Chaos present. Dr.Vijayala Srinivas in the department is the most potential of all making things work in order. We had CIA-1 ,CIA-2,CIA-3 and End semester exams for our marking. 45% weightage for End sems, 5% for attendance and CIA for 50%.The curriculum is very much oriented and latest to the present psychology trends.

Campus Life

Our psychology department had a fest called kaleido which used to take place every even semester of the year. It had multiple events and everyone but from psych department could participate. Annually we had Magnovite, an international in which people from international universities and different universities within India participate. The library was exceptional, helping us in getting access to some of the paid papers in science direct and more. There were multiple student led organisations like Mentor and counseling services, psychology association, etc.

Faculty

I don't know about other departments but in Psychology department the faculty was the best. The faculty to student ratio was appropriate and they taught us with great care and in a friendly manner. They are very approachable and tries their best to clear out doubts. The best part about the psych department is the faculty Dr. Anindita Mukherjee who tries her best to help you in any way possible. There used to be one mid sem exam for us for 20 marks and end semester which was for 50 marks . The course has prepared me well for my master's program.

Fees and Financial Aid

So the per semester that is for 6 months the course fees is Rs-22,000 and I was from general category. The whole course for years bachelors program was 1 lakh 68thousand. I think they do have a scholarship program which I didn't opt for. During admission they also take Rs 10,000 as caution money which is refundable after course completion.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise tution fees that I pay is 1.5 lacs, this includes all the lab charges and academic expenses in the University. For events one needs to pay as per the college decides. There are no other extra fees that you need to pay. There is a scholarship scheme. The scholarship will be granted every semester based on your CGPA and SGPA. The minimum CGPA required is 7.75 to get the basic Scholarship. The other 2 scholarships - MRD and CNR - MRD waivers 40% of the tuition fee for the top 5% students based on their CGPA while CNR waivers 40% of the tuition fee based on the SGPA for top 20% students There's no fees difference among different categories. Everyone is required to pay the same amount.

Faculty

The faculty is a bit new to the college, however most of them are friendly and well aware of their Subject. The exams are well planned. There are 3 exams in total. 2 ISAs and 1 ESA at the end. There are worksheets, case reports and case studies that are conducted simultaneously throughout the semester. There's no failing system. However, if you fail to reach the desired mark then you will have a backlog and you need to write the exam again.

Campus Life

My overall experience in college was not that great. The college has many divisions and department but they do not conduct any event or programs for the students to meet and socialize. The students come for attendence and there isn't much space to relax around. One thing i personally find weird is that there is a turf inside the college and it's paid for the students and it's the same for batminton court too. We can't get free access to that. the classrooms which were assigned to us were below average. There's fully air conditioned classes in campus but they give it only to engineering students or BCA department( as they pay more fees i guess). There is not encouragement for sports in this college. There is no team or clubs in this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

In terms of curriculum ,i would say the fees caught my attention as they were pretty cheap for this course. As this is a degree course it's all equal from taking the course from any college. Another issue we faced was regarding the honors course. We were promised to be given an honors degree but they took it down on our 2nd year and didn't give a proper reason for it. The college isn't well equiped for much real world preperation.

Course Curriculum Overview

Hons was the the pain point of coming to this college but they shattered that thought by removing it after luring us to admission. Bsc Psychology with hons wasn't easy to find and was helpful but after admissions thet removed it and fooled us for 4 semesters. Exams take place every semester and is a little unfair because everyone has different questions with different level of difficulty.

Campus Life

They don't allow you to sit outside the classroom while class hours. Books and journals are quite available in the library and you can issue them. There's projector fitted in most of the classroom except not very of them works properly. Extracurricular activities are there if you're really interested. There are not clubs or students-rum social groups, everything goes to faculties.

We have drama club literature club music club and art and craft club where we get to participate in the inter College competitions as well as outside the centres competition. We get to participate on various college fests, where we get to showcase at talents and achieve prices for our college. As the college atmosphere is very friendly so we get a great experience of interaction and communication with others hence the social aspect are satisfactory. One negative part of my college is that we don't have any sports related club or any activity related sports but regarding academics our college never fails to handle it with care.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly we have to pay 20,160 for the students having B.sc in psychology with economic as there minor subject. Ques. Is NIMS University good for a B.Sc in Psychology?

● Top Answer By Sarita Varshney, on 01 Nov 21

Ans. No, it is not a good university for B.Sc. in Psychology. For this course, you should apply to a central or state university which will be better than a private university.  The university is very expensive, you will know this after you get admission because there are many recurring charges which are later revealed.  Go for a government university in Jaipur or in your area where you will get proper exposure which is important for your growth and future prospects. They will also have good faculties and your education cost will be minimal.Read more

Ques. How is the B.Sc. psychology department of Bethune College? Can I get admission if my rank is 40 and there are 13 seats?

● Top Answer By Reeti Chakraborty, on 18 Nov 21

Ans. Yes, you can get admission in B.Sc Psychology at Bethune College as a number of students leave their seats for better colleges. You can then try to get a seat during the second, third or fourth cut-off list. Bethune College has highly qualified faculty members but the classes are not conducted regularly. Sometimes they even fail to complete the syllabus. But if we ignore these flaws, they are quite brilliant as educators. If you're joining this college, make sure you can study by yourself because you will not get constant attention from teachers. Bethune College will provide you with a better experience. In Bethune, you will develop both academically and holistically. Overall it is a great institution to be a part of.Read more

Ques. Which college or university is better for a bachelor's in psychology: DU or MSU Baroda?

● Top Answer By Jayant Thakur on 31 Dec 22

Ans. What truly distinguishes universities such as DU, JNU, and BHU is their brand value and large alumni base. It's as if they've created a brand, particularly for social science courses. A degree from it is valuable in and of itself. Second, while faculty may be similar in some ways, exposure at DU is unparalleled. You will learn a lot. MSU Baroda is a great university with a vibrant past and a strong alumni base, but in the current scenario, good colleges of DU stand out. But, yes, you must work hard and take the initiative to learn and gain knowledge wherever you study because, in the end, it is the knowledge you acquire that counts.Read more

For general category students, the cutoffs are quite high, around 97%.  Xavier’s offers a really good foundation in Psychology. The teachers over there expect students to be perfect in answer writing as well as practical work. The college forces its students to participate in extracurriculars and social welfare work so that their overall personality improves. You should consider joining the BA Psychology program at St. Xavier’s. However, keep in mind that the seats are very limited, and the competition is very high.
