There are many activities and clubs in our college but I haven't heard much of sports activities other than cricket, football and basketball. The Library in our college has many collections of books, we can find many of the books related to our course there so we do not need to buy it from outside atleast for my course.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Fee structures are affordable for everyone and they also provide with scholarship but i do not have much idea about the scholarship as i haven't applied for it. My course fee is 23150 per semester it's much more affordable compared to other private universities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college follows the curriculum laid down by the University Grants Commission as adopted by the University of Calcutta. The syllabus is extensive and focused. Although the CBCS curriculum of Psychology is a bit theoretical in nature, it prepares students for course-appropriate career options or further studies in the field. The curriculum is divided into specific papers that help students explore their interests. There is room for improvement in the amount of time provided to complete a semester. Although ideally, a semester is supposed to be 6 months long, it is usually reduced in reality to 3-4 months and sometimes even a little over 2 months. The college professors do a wonderful job at teaching, although this dearth of time available often hinders them from exploring topics of interest in greater detail at the risk of not being able to cover the entire syllabus in the short time available. For the CBCS system, examinations are held at the end of every semester.

Campus Life:

Loreo College has a proactive student body. Renowned for its co-curricular activities that match no other under the University of Calcutta, the college holds events throughout the year. The college has 20 student-run societies. Samagam is the annual inter-collegiate fest hosted by the college, typically held in December. In addition, there are society-specific events such as Kalakriti (by the Psychology Society), Historia (by the History Society), Loreto Shield Quiz (by the Literary Society), Ecolore (by the Economics department) and more cultural and sports events. The college frequently organises workshops and seminars. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and smart-boards. The Computer Lab and the Central Library are always accessible to students. The staff is friendly and helpful.

And another professor has completed her MA and is currently pursuing her PhD. Their teaching method is good.3 of them teach very well.Your concepts would get cleared. Internals of the college were quite easy. But as this college is under University of Calcutta, the semester exams are quite tough. You have to put in extra efforts to get a good SGPA.Understand your concepts well and revise thoroughly before your exams.(This is for psychology,I don't know about other courses)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm currently persuing BSC (hons) in psychology from Brainware University. I had interest in this particular subject as I already had an over-all idea about the subject from class 11. I always wanted to help people those who are struggling with mental health as nowadays mental health is as important as physical health to take care of. The faculty of my department is very much cooperative and good. They provide us with adequate amount of knowledge and notes which makes learning easier. Though we are the first batch in our university but there is much popularity of this subject in our university in these present years. The university provides semester wise examinations along with time to time assignments and presentations. Class assessments are also done twice to thrice per semester.

Campus Life:

Our university organises cultural Fest once every year. Besides that, our university attends lot's more other fests and competitions out there in other universities. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned which simplifies the learning process of the students. The annual fest or the freshers party is organized every year after the admission process is over and it is really a lively atmosphere to enjoy along with friends. Different artists are invited each year to make the celebration worth attending. And other than that, usual programs and celebrations get organized all year round. The central library is one of the best features of the college and it includes every book a student can need. The library is big and has books for all the departments and subjects that can cater to every student. Classrooms are very generic with proper labs for respective subjects. There are many types of sports the students can take part in and other extracurricular activities like skill development and NCC. There are groups and pages run by the students of the college on almost every major social media platform including Instagram, facebook, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

There is not any particular fee hike policy as it is a government-operated institute, but the overall cost to study is a little more if compared to other government-operated institutes, but the quality of education and other facilities are better here too. The cost of the courses varies depending upon the courses but for my course, it ranged from 8000-13000 depending on the additional subjects and extracurricular programs chosen. Any government-offered scholarships can be applied for from here and there is the facility of fees exemption too for those coming from poor financial backgrounds. Placements are offered in the college and recruiters select the right candidates for their jobs but the stipend or salary can vary a lot. The average package the students can get is around 3lpa.

I chose this course because of my interest in criminal and forensic psychology and due to the lack of awareness about mental health in the average Indian household. There is a total of 6 teachers and most of them have completed their Ph.D. and 2 of them will be able to in a few years. The teachers are very cool and teach the course in multiple languages for the betterment of the concept understanding of the students. The exams and not very tough if classes are attended regularly.

Campus Life:

Annually there are about 3 programs arranged in the college Freshers, cultural fest, and holiday celebration. There are two campuses of Barrackpore Rastraguru Surendranath College, all the sports-related activities take place in the Arts campus. There are almost all the major and minor books on the subject taught and many journals available the library is fully air-conditioned and well-maintained.

Ques. Is NIMS University good for a B.Sc in Psychology?

● Top Answer By Sarita Varshney, on 01 Nov 21

Ans. No, it is not a good university for B.Sc. in Psychology. For this course, you should apply to a central or state university which will be better than a private university.  The university is very expensive, you will know this after you get admission because there are many recurring charges which are later revealed.  Go for a government university in Jaipur or in your area where you will get proper exposure which is important for your growth and future prospects. They will also have good faculties and your education cost will be minimal.Read more

Ques. How is the B.Sc. psychology department of Bethune College? Can I get admission if my rank is 40 and there are 13 seats?

● Top Answer By Reeti Chakraborty, on 18 Nov 21

Ans. Yes, you can get admission in B.Sc Psychology at Bethune College as a number of students leave their seats for better colleges. You can then try to get a seat during the second, third or fourth cut-off list. Bethune College has highly qualified faculty members but the classes are not conducted regularly. Sometimes they even fail to complete the syllabus. But if we ignore these flaws, they are quite brilliant as educators. If you're joining this college, make sure you can study by yourself because you will not get constant attention from teachers. Bethune College will provide you with a better experience. In Bethune, you will develop both academically and holistically. Overall it is a great institution to be a part of.Read more

Ques. Which college or university is better for a bachelor's in psychology: DU or MSU Baroda?

● Top Answer By Jayant Thakur on 31 Dec 22

Ans. What truly distinguishes universities such as DU, JNU, and BHU is their brand value and large alumni base. It's as if they've created a brand, particularly for social science courses. A degree from it is valuable in and of itself. Second, while faculty may be similar in some ways, exposure at DU is unparalleled. You will learn a lot. MSU Baroda is a great university with a vibrant past and a strong alumni base, but in the current scenario, good colleges of DU stand out. But, yes, you must work hard and take the initiative to learn and gain knowledge wherever you study because, in the end, it is the knowledge you acquire that counts.Read more

● Top Answer By Varun Pandey on 24 Jan 24

Ans. St. Xavier’s College Mumbai does not offer a BSc. in Psychology. Instead, it offers a BA in this discipline. For general category students, the cutoffs are quite high, around 97%.  Xavier’s offers a really good foundation in Psychology. The teachers over there expect students to be perfect in answer writing as well as practical work. The college forces its students to participate in extracurriculars and social welfare work so that their overall personality improves. You should consider joining the BA Psychology program at St. Xavier’s. However, keep in mind that the seats are very limited, and the competition is very high. To get in, you either need good scores, or you must have presented papers in their seminar or been in the editorial team of their magazine.Read more
