Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

Fees and Financial Aid

When I joined fee per sem was 11,500, later it got increased to 12,250. 24500 it comes to year-wise fees. Donation is around 40,000-80,000. Also they charge around 25,000 for lab fee, library fee, admission charge, administration charge etc. For Bsc.Computer Science its around 19,000 For Bsw its a bit low, 10,000

Campus Life

1

Lissaura, conducted mainly on December every year. It is an intercollege fest. Many games are conducted with prizes. Union day- After union election Freshers day during July-August Onam and christmas celebrations. Lissah college have one of the vast library. Its filled with books, from all genres, referrals newspapers of all kind, journals, magazines etc. Classrooms doesn't have much facilities Only one thing is there is a TV in every classroom. Used for PPT. other than that nothing, just 4 fans, 2 lights. That's it. I don't know how they select candidates, they don't even make an announcement so that people who are interested can appear for the selections of most sports team. There is NSS in campus. If you want to enjoy campus life and make good friendship and chill. Don't join here. But if you want to study and stuffs... will recommend.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel provides A bed(No mattress or pillows) Room is shared by 4 students Have a ceiling fan, and two lights four shelfs. Thats all, no other facilities in room. A not so big study hall a pro is that it have 6 bathrooms in each floor. Also 6 rooms in each floor. Can't complaint about the food. Its best. weekly thrice chciken. Once in a week egg. Etc food is good. Mess follows a timetable Have good facilities Affordable but ofcourse over priced. 2,300 for this crap hostel is not justifiable. Mens hostel is opposite to the college.

Admission

I was called for admission from Kuniya College(Kasaragod) But didn't joined there, because many suggest not to join there as it was newly opened college at that time. Also distance to college from home was a factor to not choose that college. Other colleges were Amal College Nilambur and Kadathanad College Vadakara.

Faculty

2

There are enough faculties in our department. They are very much approachable. No one is experienced. They just come and take classes like a seminar. There are only a few knowledgable faculties. Some faculties act like child, like- they should be the centre of attention, everyone should praise them. Say only good about them etc. Exams are pretty good. Can cover easily. The issue with faculties are mainly, they don't know how to take good lectures, most of them, mainly everyone are new. Like, they just got their pg and directly joined here, so they don't have any experience in teaching. Also some faculties have very big ego. Another thing is, almost everyone in the department is very young, so they are mostly on leaves because of their wedding and suffs, yeah you may think so we get free hours, yes you will ,definitely. but the issue with that is, we will be in a state where we don't know anything, as exams are on the corner, and when they rejoined after their leave, classes will be done in a hectic manner. Faculties doesn't consider students mental health and well-being even they are teching psychology. Giving overload of works. Assignments, seminars, PPT, Record, etc etc... its fully stacked. Won't get a breathing space in between all these things in last semesters.

Interview Experience

4

Admission process was through CAP, Applied through calicut university through ugc no interview Donation was there (50k) for admission It was different, depends on the time of admission and demand for the course at the time.

Night Life

1

Closest gym is 1KM away. Plenty of cafés nearby Library closes around 05:00 PM Hostel life is crap. No entertainments. Get in time 6:00 PM Gate close by 9:00 PM opens by 6:30 AM so obviously no night life possible Locality is safe overall but even then its a rural area, so should be aware. Class starts by 9:30 Am and ends by 3:30 pm Places of interest includes Thamarassery churam view point, Knowledge City, Thamarassery town etc. Inside college- Eco library, Canteen, Library etc

Other Applied Colleges

Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Psychology)

Due to distance

Kuniya College | Bsc psychology

It was new at that time

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
