Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for each semester is ?35,100 . That is what I had paid in the first semester and I believe that is what I have to pay for the coming semesters as well . I think that it is a reasonable fee especially being in a government owned institute because we get quality education as well especially my department because Daulat Ram College is quite renouned to be excellent in concern with psychology department. Iam also currently residing in the college hostel which I can review it to be quite decent . The good part especially being that it is inside the campus and us surrounded by greenery which I find to be particularly pleasant. For, ?1, 68,940 I think the hostel is decent. Apart from this the students studying in our college is also benefitted from the scholarships which are provided from the national scholarship portal which provides several different scholarship schemes funded by the government.I think there could be still a handful of development which could be acquired for the betterment of all. But overall I'm satisfied with the necessary facilities. As the college provides all the basic necessities.

Faculty

I really like my faculty and i am really glad that I got into this college because my teachers are all nice. And i consider myself lucky to have gotten into this college and I truly am grateful for their mentorship. And overall Daulat Ram College is really well known for their strong faculty in the department of psychology. I also met a great lot of people in this department. None of them are rude in any sense they are the nicest people I have met. And I truly am greatful. And i think that my department is the best in this college.

Fees and Financial Aid

i pay around fifity two thousand rupees as fee for my course, other compulcory charges are like examination fees with including practical courses. the fees of my batchmates are also the same and there are scholarships but i have not applied to nay so i dont really know. but there are scholarships like for northeasterns and then merit based and thne for people below poverty line also if i am not wrong. other than that there are also many perks or if you wish to know more you can always go to the administration office and they will let you know all about it.

Course Curriculum Overview

the curriuclum is very relevant as whatever needed is being studied i am actually getting a good hands on with the whole syllabus. not at all confusing . it also applies to the real world solutions so yes very helfpul. improvements could be in the form of some time becasue although its interesting it is also very limited ime to cover a lot of things so yes lessen the amount of syllabus or give us more time to complete would be appreciated. freuqency and timings of exams are good just too early yes.

Course Curriculum Overview

wide yet detailed study of important concepts related to the discipline, newer things to learn and quite practical in accordance to the current trends. tests and quizes are taken place to track progress and make learning mkre fun. exams aren't that frequent, a mid sem and an sem and difficulty level would depend on your preparation but i wouldn't call it difficult

Campus Life

I am in two socities and both of them are extremely devoted. other than that it's mandatory for students to join one between NCC, NSS, which helps student be out there. annual fest of DRC is called manjari. during that season numerous socities also conduct their individual fests, events, and competition.

Campus Life

? College life is calm yet happening. There are lots of clubs and societies. • Freshers was held which had a big party department wise. • Dandiya party was also held during navratri. • Manjari is a cultural fest which is held annually and many artists are called at the campus to perform. • The North east cell, Purvasha organises Khrengbar, a cultural annual fest, and also other amazing fests. • Books are available at the library for most of the courses. However some books are outdated. • The labs are well equipped with all the necessary imstruments. Computers are working. Fans are provided. The rooms are well lit. The wifi is very slow. • Fencing, kho-kho, football, volleyball, badminton and other sports are there. There are indian classical dance and music clubs respectively and western dance and music clubs too. • Annual event of psychology dept. Is held on Mental Health Day where everybody participated actively for a good cause. • There are placement cell, WD cell, north east cell, art club, music club, dance club, and so on

Faculty

• There are 10 faculty members in Psychology department with students around 62 in our batch. • The faculties I liked the most will be: 1. Dr. Meetu Khosla 2. Dr. Kshitija Wason 3. Dr. Sandhyarani Hawbam Their approaches and their commitments made psycholgy even better for me. • The faculties I had a tough time connecting with: 1. Ms. Ruchi Bhati : It was hard for me to grasp the content she was teaching. 2. Dr. Bodhraj k. : the way of teaching was not for me. • There are mid term exams which is held in between our semesters which had only 1 or 2 units that were comparatively easier and end term exams which is held at the last of our semester. Our results are not shown yet so no idea about the ratio of students who failed. The course curriculum is very relevent.

The fees for my course is around 34000 rupees. It has increased slightly over the years and is a relatively expensive course at the university. I am unaware of the exact cost of the course for other categories, but most other courses have a fee of around 25000 on an average.

Course Curriculum Overview

The psychology honours course at daulat ram college is quite well known and has one of the best faculty members in the entire college. The course is well up to date with international notms as well and incorpates indian perspectives

Faculty

In our class there are 27 students and 1 professor for each subject ( we have 3 DSC and 1 GE, SEC, AEC and VAC subject). I feel the faculty to student relation is formal to a limit but all of them are very helping and they teach in a way that all the students can get the topic there approach is comprehensive. I really like all my Psychology and philosophy professors and of other subjects as well. Like Sandhya ma'am, poornima ma'am, meetu ma'am, Radhika ma'am, Chandan sir, purushottam sir and others. There are usually 6-7 exams 3 of DSC and then of GE, SEC, VAC, and AEC you dont have yo give exam of SEC and VAC is you choose practical subjects. All the students of my class passed noone failed.

Campus Life

The name of our annual fest in manjari and there are many departmental fests that take place around the fest season almost all 20 - 26 departments have their fests. Almost all books and additional books are there in our library. We have ACs, favs, smart board/ digital board windows and all necessary things in our classroom. There are many socities/clubs for dance, music both western and indian, fashion, debate, etc and in sports we have kho-kho, athletics basically field games only as we dont have any court so no ball games. We also have a gym.

I knew a senior already and asked her about the college she said teaching staff is good for which I can totally agree..there are a lot of assignments and stuff but at last it's helpful helps to gain exposure, knowledge and experience If you participate in all the activities which happend then it will be really good and helpful But the syllabus is very vast and with activities and assignment it gets stressful For the first year first sem it was very hectic as the exams were in really few gap but it was fine in second sem It is advised to try to study side by side atleast a little bit

Campus Life

In the campus there are so many student. But facility in the colleges is not up to the mark for the story they need to do better campus comfortable for the students. Prof. Roy professor which I don't like because he don't put attention is talking nonsense and not paying attention to the student syllabus rather than talking about politics and external affairs all that he has to focus on the syllabus. There are two examination semester wise examination is of moderate quality but the many of student approx 60% of them in first semester and 2nd semester are failed because they do not adopting the college environment. That's why they are fail .

Fees and Financial Aid

The three year course fees is 18662 and courier course it is approximately 25000. Depending on the subjects you choose, extra fees per semester may be charged. For example, psychology as a special subject in the BA program costs an extra ?3,000 per semester. Registration fees is 800 general category and OBC and 500 for SC ST. For the student of weeker section the scholarship is available student have to fill the scholarship form in which they get full refund of their fee amount. If they got good marks in their examinations.

Fees and Financial Aid

So on the yearly basis i pay around 25000-28000 for 2 semesters. Like I remember in the first year the pay was around 23000something but gradually it increases like recently in my 3rd year I kinda paid 27000 something almost touching 28000. I don't feel that there is any fee compensation or benefit for the other benchmates for other categories. There are financial aid and scholarships available for weak section students but I really don't have in dept info regarding this. Overall i feel development fees is the one which keep on increasing in large amount But JMC is a home and a very peaceful place to be in ..like the campus, cleanliness and food is wow!! And it's technically a safe place to be in .

Faculty

I feel JMC have the best faculty....like they are the ones which will listen to you ,try to understand your problem and will help u out with any query. Faculty is pretty approachable like proper communication in between students and faculty I like commerce dept teachers more and also rajni ma'am she is very experienced professor and the way she teaches I just love it

Campus Life

I'm satisfied with my college experience so far. A few days ago only a 2 day Psychology fest was held for all the students of our college. On day 1 there were fun activities like doodling, blowing bubbles and telling the stall holder, one thing your younger self would tell you, a psychological test was also held- we were provided with a questionnaire which we had to fill out and the senior students interpreted our results and gave us suggestions to help with our problems. The event was very fun. On day 2, a seminar was held wherein Dr. Rohit Garg have us insights about his journey in psychology, how mental disorders can be common among people and they might not recognise them.. The library is well furnished with AC, we also have a sports ground.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our college offers a good mix of theory and real-life application, making it a good choice for anyone genuinely curious about how the human mind works. It also balances academics with hands-on experiences—students don’t just read about psychology in theory, they actually get to practice it through labs, experiments, internships, and field visits. Regular workshops, seminars, and presentations keep the learning process interactive and help build communication and analytical skills that are useful both inside and outside the classroom. Recently a resilience workshop was held by an alumni of MSCW, where we got deeper insights about how resilience can be built, how coping works and how some coping techniques can be bad for u.

Faculty

The faculty was really very supportive of their students and helped students gain hands-on experience in research and the practicality of this subject. The most remarkable faculty members were Dr. Shivantika Sharad and Dr. Salma mam, known for their expertise and guidance, which makes it so convenient for students to learn in depth.

Campus Life

The fest and workshops were pretty good there. The accessibility to the Library was really convenient and we got an opportunity to explore the books rich in knowledge, culture and literature. There were different socities for different interest like writing society, drama society, archery society

The aspect of curriculum that influenced me to select this course was the subject psychology. The curriculum prepares me quite nicely for real world applications. There is not need for improvement. The timings of exams are 3 hours, with less difficult

Taarang and one can ask anyone in India everyone will know about Taarang as it is it that magnitude. We also have a saree day in that and traditional day and a day for events and finally a music night. All DU students girls are invited for our fest as our campus is huge and the L garden where it is organized.

Fees and Financial Aid

No campaign or anything is required if you get admissions in LSR, New Delhi. Just at 25000 a year you can be a part of marquee college of Delhi University where only the toppers from India studies. So, studying here is a novelty and studying at such a low cost is a novelty too.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is highly relevant and comprehensive, according to me. The core courses that are mandatory for a student to take are highly relevant and necessary in order to develop the relevant skills and knowledge in that specific domain of the field. Electives on the other hand, are a student's choices and may or may not be relevant directly to the course one is studying. The university offers a wide range of electives and the electives are also taught by highly qualified professors across the 12 different schools of JGU. The end semester exams are either of 30 marks or 50 marks, depending on the course. Electives usually have a 30-mark end-of-semester exam for 1.5 hours. The exams are pretty easy and theoretical and contextual, unless the course one has chosen is strictly application-based and demands applications of theoretical frameworks. The core exams in the first and second year are divided across 50 and 30 mark exams and are often for 3 hours. The exams are pretty easy and theoretical except for the practicum courses, which are deeply application-based. The final year has very few core courses which are for 30 marks.

Campus Life

I worked in over a dozen events and fests. I was a part of multiple Social Media committees, security commitees, etc. I worked for two years in the 2 biggest fests of JGU; Biswamil and Magnus. I also worked for two years in the Freshers, fest Buddy Project where in I also secured the position of sub-head of Social media in my final year. The fests and comittee work for any fest and event in JGU requires hard work and skill but is one of the best experiences I've ever had. The last night working rooms where the vibe never stops will be one of my favourite memories from college. Working in multiple may have a impact on the academic life though, the work in societies, clubs and fests is very tiring and exhausting. One needs to understand to balance the two in order to function effectively in both the domains. Though without a doubt, JGU has over 20 clubs and socieities wherein one can find people who like them and enjo their hobbies together. When it comes to resources, the JGU admin is very supportive when it comes to organising fests, activites, or screenings

Course Curriculum Overview

the course curriculum was highly relavant to my academic and career interest which offers a strong balance between the theroatical concepts and real life implications. one of the key factors that influenced my decision to choose this course was that there are wide varity of subjects available to choose from which allowed to talor my learning according to my interest. But the time of exams are tough for us, but the two-month break actually gives us time to soothe the tiredness and actually make us want to come back to campus.

Faculty

faculty to student ratio is quite good as every student have faculty advisor whom we as students can ask questions about the course or can ask for help in different aspect of life as well. I love all the faculty as from i have studied all very good and helped me in difficult times . there are few which i dont like but can not name then du to personal reasons. if we talk about exams it depends but they vary from easy to medium level of difficulty but sometimes they are hard as well.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee for the course is approximately ?15,000, making it one of the most affordable undergraduate programs in Delhi University. This fee includes tuition, examination, library, and other institutional charges. Over the years, the fee has remained largely stable and is not subject to frequent hikes, which makes it financially accessible for students from diverse economic backgrounds. The complete course, which spans three years, totals around ?45,000. Although the college itself does not offer direct scholarships, students can avail financial assistance through the University of Delhi’s Student Welfare Office. The DU Students’ Welfare Fund provides merit-cum-means scholarships, fee concessions, and financial aid to economically weaker students. Eligible students must apply through the university portal and are selected based on academic performance and family income criteria. In addition, students from reserved categories or with physical disabilities can also apply for specific schemes offered under DU's welfare initiatives. This external financial support ensures that no deserving student is deprived of higher education due to economic hardship. Thus, while the fee is modest and stable, the availability of DU-level scholarships makes the course even more accessible and inclusive for students from all sections of society.

Faculty

The faculty members of our colleges are highly qualified, experienced and deeply committed to students learning. Many professors also hold doctarate degree. They are also pretty reachable. In our course we have Dr. Yogeeta. She is the most sweetest teacher. I just love her. She is so considerate and helpful. The exam patter is also fine. Neither too tough and nor much easy.

Campus Life

The campus life is good and interactive. There are events happening at regular intervals to keep the students lively and engaged. Annual festa include the fest shruti usually held in mid march, diwali mela named akayam being cinducted around the festival diwali, global university fair etc. The library is well maintained and equipped with good amount of books and sources. There is complete accessibility to all the journals, magezines, articles etc online as well. The college provides a wifi network as well. And there are labs as well as majority of classrooms are equipped with smart boards. The sports committee is sufficiently active with the conduction of sports day activities etc conducted every year. There are coaches fir regular trainings under certain sports. There are various ngo based works also taking place often. Also, NSS present in the college makes a significant social impact.

Faculty

There exist enough professors for each department to maintain a good student to teqcher ration with no more than 50 students per professor. They are easily approachable and maintain a healthy relationship. They connect like friends. The best faculty for my department have been all the ood professors and to name a few are dr. Surabhika maheshwari, mitu rohtagi etc. They are warm and welcomimg aling with vast knowledge and experience. The course curriculum is relevant with some flaws at times due to this batch being the first NEP batch. There are 2 3 internal exams/assignments per semester and the external exams are conducted semester wise. I have rarely seen any student failing. The exams are moderately difficult to make every student at par of their learning abilities.

Ques. Which is better for BA in psychology- Jai Hind or St. Xavier College Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Supriyo Sen on 19 Jan 21

Ans. Among the two institutes mentioned, St.Xavier College, Mumbai is better for a BA in psychology.  The table below will give you a brief overview of the two colleges. Parameters Jai Hind St.Xavier College Fee structure INR 16,200 (for 3 years) Rs 17,625 (for 3 years) Placement rate (2020) - >90% Average salary package (2020) 3 LPA 6.5 LPA Comparison:  Both the institutes provide good learning opportunities, but the difference is St. Xavier is autonomous and hence better. As St. Xaviers is autonomous, it can update the syllabus anytime, if needed. While Jai Hind is affiliated with MU and follows the same syllabus as MU. Which may not be updated.  Xavier’s also conducts its own examinations. So any problem caused in the result published by MU will not affect the students of Xaviers.  Like any other autonomous institute, Xaviers also publishes its results first. So, students get the first preference for a job.  While containing a degree from MU through Jai Hind is quite convenient since university and college will both have a set of mark sheets. From the academic point of view, St. Xaviers College is better than Jai Hind College Mumbai.Read more
