IIT Kharagpur Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

While preparing for jee, I was a good in physics and chemistry subject. After qualifying the exam when I need to set my priorities , i consulted with various seniors and relatives of mine and decided to choose chemical engineering at IIT Kharagpur. One big misconception among everyone is that Chemical engineering involves chemistry only so it's a big lie. Chemistry is a different department in my college. Chemical engineering involves mostly physics and some maths and some chemistry. Subjects like fluid transfer ,heat transfer, thermodynamics, transform calculus , chemical reaction engineering, instrumentation engineering and many more involved a major physics part involving mathematics calculations so its not what people think. Chemistry is involved very less in chemical engineering. Some subjects are having syllabus which is very vast for getting completed in a semester so it should be regulated according to the time available as student has a limited time to complete syllabus for all subjects which sometimes create a burden on his head. Some digital methods used in foreign countries colleges can be adopted too like some small practical while teaching to make subject more interesting. In every semester we have midsem and endsem with a gap of around 2 months. Exams are a hectic period for everyone and are slightly difficult as competition is high as everyone have qualified a toughest exam of the country so you will not get a very easy paper.

For Btech students they are eligible in their 7th semester where as for Dual Degree students they are eligible in their 9th Semester for placements. More than 150 companies visits. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, McKinsey, Bain & Co, BCG and other top companies with a recruitment of more than 1200 students. Highest package given this year is 2.14 Cr. And average package is around 15 LPA. This year more than 60% students are placed in 1st phase where as 2nd phase will start soon and I will join PhD after getting degree

For four year course, placement start after 3rd year completion. In the 7th semester companies start taking online or offline assessment tests. In the month of December, interviews are arranged and offers are given. For five year course, same things happen after 4th year completion. Placement starts with Day-0, Day-1, etc. High paying companies are scheduled on day zero and day one and so on. Most of the batch is placed in first round of placement. Remaining are required to apply in second round which is in January February of next semester. Generally most of the batch is placed , and rest opt for other higher studies or off campus placement through alumni network or referal mostly.

Eligibility for campus placement for btech student is 7th semester and for dual degree student is 9th semester. 1117 offers to 1097 students in 2023-2024 highest package is 1.8cr median package is 18lac placement % is about 70 my plans is to crack gate exam and getting job in PSU

From the seventh semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies visited and offered a decent amount of package like google, amazon, microsoft etc. The last year's average package in my branch was of 25 lpa. Most of the students got placed in the placement drive and some students gets placed off campus too. My plan is to also get a decent paying job after degree.

The course is very relevant to the latest industry's demands. We have ML courses as well, and we have a lot of extra curricular activities that keep us up to date. While the course prepares us for corexwe have plenty of non core opportunities.

Students become eligible for in-campus placement in the last year, though they can sit for internships in the 3rd year. Top companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Accenture etc come for placements. 80-90% of the students get placed every year.

I was intrested in coding and AI, so I chose the course. Also, there are multiple opportunities in this field. the course is structured in very comprehensive manner, it is designed to make it easy for students to learn things. The curriculum is very relevant as it depends on the latest technologies used in the industry. The teaching method of all the faculties is mainly practical based learning and they try to teach on basis of real world examples. The exam happes twice a semester as mid sem exams and end sem exams. the level of exam is tough.

After 4th semeseter one becomes eligible for internship and after the 6th semester for placements ,for mechanical engineering there are a lot of companies such as tata steel ,ongc,l&t,drdo ,maruti suzuki etc highest package last year was around 2.4 cr international and 1.18 cr domestic,for mechanical number of students placed was almost 76% I wish to study further in colleges abroad

So our institute provides placement to many students.And they are very good.The average of our placements is around 1400000 per annum. Will you have two times placement in your fourth year at the starting of the semester and at the ending of the semester. All the famous companies are included in our campus placement. They are the highest placement.Get this year is around four crore per annum. And around 84 % of students get placed in our department.
