Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is good and i like it and i chose it because i always wanted to pursue electrical engineering. The curriculum is based on real world applications and the concepts taught are applicable to the real world problems.

Internships Opportunities

4

So many internship opportunities are available in my college and there are also so many recruiters like amazon samsung google etc which offers a good stipend. The roles are offered in areas like electrical, mechanical, civil, automotive etc.

Placement Experience

4

From the seventh semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies visited and offered a decent amount of package like google, amazon, microsoft etc. The last year's average package in my branch was of 25 lpa. Most of the students got placed in the placement drive and some students gets placed off campus too. My plan is to also get a decent paying job after degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

For SC category The yearwise fees is approx 100000 (tution fee excluded). Mess charges- 29000 Admission related charges- 10000 - 12000 hostel charges- 40000 (including every necessary things) Others-20000 approx For General category a criteria is set based on the family income which is as follows:- if income>500000 then 100000 tution fee is to be paid. if 300000>income>500000 then 1/3 rd of the tution fee is to be paid. if income<300000 then no tution fee is to be paid.

Campus Life

4

The well known fest of IIT Kharagpur is Kshitij which is a techno management fest and is conducted in the month of January. college library is vast and almost all the books are available in hard copy or soft copy as it also supports a digital library. The classrooms are good with centralised air conditioning and pretty big to accomodate approx 200 students. Almost all the sports are there i our college and the sports community also organise competitions from timr to time. There are so many clubs run by students too.

Hostel Facilities

4

In the room, we get all the necessary furniture and we also get a wifi port amd enough lighting in the room. The meal is average. Registration process is quite easy and you can directly get admitted to the hostel. The locality to rent a PG is nearby Kharagpur.

Admission

During the counselling i also applied for Chemical engineering in IIT Bombay and my cutoff was enough to get the admission but i chose electrical engineering over chemical as it is my field of interest. Yes I also got rejection from several colleges as my cutoff marks were not enough to get admisssion in the courses. The admission process is through the JEEAdvanced exam which requires a certain cutoff marks for my college depending on the branches. Last year the overall cutoff for general category was 109 marks.

Faculty

3

The student to faculty ratio in college is 15:1. The faculties are very approachable, you can have your doubts cleared easily. Professor Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya of the Physics department is one of my favourite faculties. The exam pattern is as follows:- one class test of 10 percent weightage. then midsem exams of 30 percent weightage. then class test again of 10 percent weightage. then endsem exams of 50 percent weightage. They are difficult but can be cleared through practice.

Night Life

5

The nightlife is better than i expected in my college as there are no restrictions in the college to hang out overnight. The library is kept open 24*7 and most of the cafeterias are open throughout the day and some are open during night too.

Other Applied Colleges

IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITB] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

The cutoff marks to get admission in this college was not cleared.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-> CSE is the main stream because under this, other courses like Cybersecurity can be learned as extra courses, while still learning things that are very important like DSA and DAA. -> Everything is taught slightly fast and students have to keep up everyday. Even one class missed will be heavy on studying. -> The mic quality in some classes are bad and should be improved. It's impossible to understand what the teachers says when using them. -> Usually term exams start one month after the start of a semester, with the Semester exam being held 3 months later.
