IIT Kharagpur Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Placement are good not too good . Like every year there is approximately 1600- 1700 student were placed in company. Most of big and moderate size company came for recruitment in every sector sde, finance , consultanting core etc like Amazon , Microsoft, Google , Goldman Sachs, nividia, Adobe zepto anday other. Highest package goes above 1cr every year. Average package is about 17-18 lpa 70 to 80 percentage are placed .

The curriculum followed here is the latest/upgraded after NEP 2020 which helps students to get acquainted with the industry and real-time world. Here we have 1 mid-sem, 1 end-sem, and 2-3 quizzes, every semester, and our course is for 8 semesters. Exams are not that easy for a normal person from a normal college, and also not for IITians, the exams are such level that IITians also scorch their head during exams. But with regular studies, one can get good grades at IIT.

The course curriculum is made by keeping the industry standards in mind and is very relevant. Sometimes it feels to hectic, but it is not that difficult to score in exams. There could be minor improvements in it but overall it is not bad

The placements at IIT, Kharagpur is one of its main aspects that interests student to take admission in this college. most of the students who pass out of this college receive a placement offer in top companies.

In the first year you will have two semesters , physics (25 credit) and chemistry (24 credit) semesters. Before 2024 you had the option to change your department based on your CGPA in the first year.

IIT Kgp has good placement records over the years and well most of the students gets placed , except a few among which there is heavy density of the students are those who wanted to go abroad and some of them are those who prefered higher education in india itself.

I chose Instrumentation engineering keeping in mind the current state of semiconductor industry in India.I would say that the curriculum is a little backdated compared to what professionals are looking for today.To improve it,they need to include relevant elective subjects as subject choices before every semester.The frequency of exams is determined by the professor.Generally, there are two class tests and one midsemester and endsemester exams in each semester.

Students become eligible for campus placement after the end of their 6th semester or third year. All though there eligible for internship after the end of 4th semester or 2nd year for on campus interviews. Almost all big companies of the nation and globally visit our campus. High-profile companies like high frequency trading firms like Quad Eye, graviton all visit our campus. The highest package offered for the computer science and mathematics and computing branch is around 2.2 crores while the median package is around 40 lacs. For my branch of chemical engineering the average package is 21 lakhs with median being 19 lakhs. All big tech companies like Google Apple Microsoft Amazon Facebook all visited campus. Placements and internships are never an issue in our college and are the last thing to worry about. If you can get admission here then you will have much more freedom to explore your entrepreneurial skills and pursue your passions as well.
