- When i visited the college for the first time a year ago, i was astonished by the beautiful campus. The campus was lush green, beautiful and drones and other technical instruments flying and what not. The hostel was also quite nice .
- During my first semester, the academics was not much touch as i had heard of, it was easy and you could pass by starting to study a week before the exams. However, they became slightly tough in the second semester, but it was manageable.
- I have seen my seniors who have been placed in various good companies like microsoft , google etc. There is a student placement office which helps you in your placements. Seniors also guide you and they are very helpful.
Dislikes
- There is not much but the attendance criteria in some courses.
- Some professors are very intelligent but they lack the ability to teach or to convey the knowledge to the students.
- There is not much city life outside the campus as there is in Bombay or Delhi or other metro cities.
Placement Experience:
Placements are good . Some of my seniors are placed in very good companies and almost all students get placed. The student placement office cooperates a lot in your placement year. Various options are available.

- You can pursue anything which you like from sports to any cultural activities
- IIT Kanpur has arts club, music club, aerodynamics club ,etc.
Dislikes
- Everything here happens very quickly so you cannot settle properly
- Full semester happens in about 4 months in which you have midsem and endsem exam
Course Curriculum Overview:
Aerospace Engineering has one of the best curriculum in India.
We have studied and applied almost all the basic techniques which are applied in real world
The only improvement is that the curriculum should be centric to learning and not just grades
Quizzes happen biweekly and their difficulty is moderate

- Pressure of society and by professors in campus
- Hype by the society is so bad and worst to survive
Placement Experience:
7th semester students are eligible for placement and from 5th semester students are eligible for sitting in placement but a student can sit only once in placement and internship drives
More than 200 companies visited campus and around 75% of students get placed in the college at all courses btech mtech MS msc
In year 2023 highest offer is of 2.57 cr and lowest is of 6 lpa

Placement Experience:
There is placement opportunities in campus. The on-campus placement season happens in the last year of Bachelor's degree.
The major recruiting profile is Software and other profiles like Data Analyst, Consultancy, Techno-Managerial, Core also provide placement opportunities.

- There are many things in my campus to like it such as aur strip in my campus

- There are no such things to dislike but yeah food quality of mess is not so good
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course and cirrculum that influence my decision to choose the course is the grading of professors. There are no such things to change the teaching methods of proffesors because they are quite enough talented. The frequency of exam is about per month 1 exams

- The mess food is really good at my hostel (Hall 2) and there are plenty of sports facilities like volleyball, badminton courts, table tennis that are available in almost all of the hostels.
- There is a lot of greenery in the campus which attracts peafowls, Neelgais, etc.
- The academic flexibility at IIT Kanpur is vast which enables a student to pursue a lot of courses from other departments too which enhances the skill set of an individual here.
Dislikes
- The location of IIT Kanpur in Kanpur, U.P can make students who come from the metro cities feel a little isolated at times.
- The academics can sometimes get very rigorous and hectic and can demand a lot of time from the students which can affect their time that is dedicated for the student clubs and other extra curriculars.

Placement Experience:
The placements opportunities offered by the Students Placement Office (SPO) of IIT Kanpur is one of the best in the country with big companies visiting for multiple profiles, you have the chance to grab a good package at major MNCs. For the Quantitative analyst profile, Optiver, Jane Street regularly visit the campus and offer the highest package above 1 crore per annum. The average package of the institute is around 15 LPA this year and around 80% of the students who applied at the SPO were placed.

- So much greenery in the campus, beautiful environment inside the campus , so much space provided for self study.
- Interaction with seniors in iit kanpur is outstanding, seniors are very helpful in nature , even with any senior if they don't know tou they will always ready to solve your any kind of problems.
- Concerts like antaragni , techriti etc are for students entertainment and also sports facilities are provided
Dislikes
- Nothing much to dislike but rooms of old halls are very small and conjustable
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course curriculum in IIT kanpur is quite tough but yeah it depend on branch , in my branch in every week in 4th semester there are minimum 2 mini quizzes so it is quite tough to manage some times there will be 4 , the difficulty level of the examination is on tougher side

- The professors are super easy to approach and help you with difficult situations
- The friends you make while struggling with the academics are the best
Dislikes
- the more competitive nature in students making life difficult
- hectic template with multiple labs are hard to manage
- extreme weather throughout the year are just frustrating
Placement Experience:
placements here are quite well and for the course i have enrolled we are expected to get an batch average of about 20 lakh.
you are allowed to sit once for the placement from the institute that is managed by student-run committee called spo or student palcement office.

- The campus is full of greenery and its onw sanctuary
- The campus has a flight lab and an airstrip
Dislikes
- The area is very huge but is not used efficiently
- The greenery can be reduced for further development
- The flight lab and Airstrip can only be used by AE students
Placement Experience:
Being in a reputed college the placement is very good and my course being from CORE has less average package but you can easily get placed for Software development if you code regularly and are determined.

- First thing I liked is obviously the campus, it is beautiful enough to give you natural dopamine and it is big enough for a whole night walk
- The second thing is the academic infrastructure, classrooms, library and Labs all have AC and beautifully maintained.
- The security guard, they are most liked facility in IIT Kanpur, the way they give their best for the our security, the way they give their best, you will be felt very special
Dislikes
- Electricity bills, when you will get monthly mess+electricity bill, sometimes it cross ₹1000 per month per person in a hostal. Avg ₹700/month/person
- Water shortage in hostels, 'sometimes' you need to walk(Max. 250m) to different block to bring water
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course curriculum is very much in order therefore you wouldn't find anything irrelevant. Since BSBE is all about engineering in biology, many times we connect the course topic to our real life things, wheather it is about food or any organ function and its health.
When it comes to examinations, difficulty level varies from courses to courses(easy, moderate and hard all varieties). In case of exam timings, at the worst case, your one exam will end at 8pm night and the next start at 8am morning.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
