BHU Diploma in Spanish FAQs
Ques. I am a student of an affiliated college of BHU. Can I apply for the Diploma in Spanish?
Ans. No. The 2-year part-time Diploma in Spanish is open ONLY to regular students currently enrolled in any ongoing full-time course at the BHU main campus in Varanasi. Students of affiliated colleges and Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, Mirzapur are not eligible.
Ques. I am in the final year of my B.A. at BHU. Can I apply for the Diploma in Spanish this year?
Ans. No. Students in the final year of their current course are explicitly NOT eligible for the Diploma courses. You would need to be enrolled in a continuing course (not in the last year) to apply.
Ques. Is there any entrance exam for the Diploma in Spanish at BHU?
Ans. No, there is no separate entrance exam for this part-time diploma. Admission is based purely on merit, i.e., marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2 or higher). If the number of applicants exceeds the available seats, a merit list is prepared based on qualifying exam marks.
Ques. Can I pursue the Diploma in Spanish alongside my B.Tech at IIT (BHU)?
Ans. Yes, IIT (BHU) students are eligible since IIT BHU is located within the BHU campus. The part-time classes are scheduled so as not to clash with your regular B.Tech timetable. Many IIT BHU students have successfully pursued language diplomas alongside their engineering programmes.
Ques. What can I do after completing the 2-year Diploma in Spanish from BHU?
Ans. After the Diploma, you can pursue the Advanced Diploma in Spanish (also offered at BHU), which further deepens your language proficiency. You may also appear for internationally recognised DELE (Diplomas de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera) certifications. Career options include roles as a Spanish language translator, interpreter, content specialist, language trainer, or working in MNCs, BPOs/KPOs, tourism, and the diplomatic services. For academic careers, an MA in Spanish from another university (such as JNU or EFLU) is recommended.
Ques. When does the admission process for the Diploma in Spanish typically start, and where do I apply?
Ans. The admission process typically starts in August-September each year. Applications are submitted online at bhuonline.in. After filling the online form and paying the Rs. 200 application fee, you must submit a hard copy of the form along with required documents (bonafide certificate, fee receipt of your primary course, qualifying exam marksheet, etc.) to the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts, BHU.
