SRM University Chennai Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Students become eligible from the 3rd year for internships and for jobs you have to be in your final year. A lot of internations companies like AT&T, Verizon, Mircosoft, Google etc. and around 1500 offers made. highest package is 1.85crores 100% placement record my plan after my bachelors is to go for masters

From 6th semester one can sit on placement. Several companies visit depending on the market. Highest package offered would be around 45 lakhs and average package is around 6-7 lakhs. I have planned for placement after my degree.

Placements were very good. The highest salary package offered was 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Virtusa, etc. Almost 80% of students got placed in this course. Many students got internships in this course.

The cirriculum is set up in a good way but the faculty is not up to the mark to do the job. They are basically Ex-SRMITE's with master's degree from the institute themselves, with specialisation in automobile or mechanical engineering. The teaching was done from a bunch of pre-made presentations and there were incomplete explanations presented in form of a lecture.

We became eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Due to covid not a lot of companies came, and being in a field like an Automobile engineering made it even more difficult. Only 3 core automobile companies came to recruit out of 4 campuses. The highest package can go up to 40 LPA and the average package is around 4LPA. On the website, it says that there is 100% placement, but it is actually around 70%. And this year due to covid the percentage is well below half. My plans are to work on my designing skills and get a job in product development in any big car manufacturing company.

The placements here are excellent. Many students get their super dream jobs and dream jobs from the campus placement. Big giants like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, IBM, etc come to college for recruitment. The highest package offered was 1.1 crore from Microsoft.

Good: The place is very fun. The curriculum is really nice and if you put in some effort there's lots of new areas to explore. Lots of different people who have lots of different skills you can learn from or build things together. The place is beautiful too. You will get to learn a lot of new things on your own, just cos of the exposure. Maths classes were great to attend. Great access to cheap and great food. (Once covid restrictions are gone)Bad: Too expensive. You pay nearly 3-4k per semester for exam fee. Hostels have become more expensive as well. 1.3lpa for non AC rooms. A little lower for common bathroom hostels. The faculties are not that great, with few exceptions. SRM doesn't treat its faculty well either, most of them plan to quit. You will experience lot of mismanagement from college when it comes to exams. There's times when nothing has been taught in class but the most difficult exam paper. Some teachers make you do side projects that are totally irrelevant and something a 5th grader could do but you need to buy the hardware. Totally useless. Mostly it'll feel less like an educational institution and more like a business, attractive and all but the agenda is minting money. Hostel wardens are very rude and very sexist and sometimes verbally abusive. Hostel was great place to be in but you will want to leave simply because of how inconvenient they make it. Too many assignments and tests, no time to actually learn. Admission process in my time was to collect your documents, admit card, id proof etc and then attend counselling. Select your branch of choice, some paperwork (they guide you through it), pay the fee in DD (it could be online payment now) get your SRM ID and you're good to go. There's a 5-day orientation process where they just tell you about the college and course. It could be a great college if they'd just paid more attention to the education process along with the fun stuff.

Technical knowledge given by college is awesome and the support from the college in any type of events,and the cultural fest is also awsome and the faculty na the infrastructure is also good.

It was the best for automotive engineering in the country at that time. Even now it hosts one of the best laboratories which are sponsored by Auto giants such as BMW, FORD, BOSH, TATA etc. The hands on experience provided at the University is immaculate

Only thing that little bit expensive but everything was fine including the hostel timings and safety of the students
