As per our research, students say that it really isn't as bad as people say. It is a great college, in terms of facilities. You can easily score a good CGPA if you put even a little effort, and you can have fun too while maintaining a good CGPA. They have everything they need around them in terms of food, restaurants, and places to have fun. Travelling to the city is quite easy, once you get here and get familiar with the city. The teachers don't really teach and things are outdated, but that's the scene in every college and you will have to study on your own. There are also a few teachers who are really great and if you maintain good relations with them, you can work on area projects and do wonders. The placements here are good too provided you put in the effort. You can't expect a 12LPA+ job without putting in the effort. Yes, the medians and means are low because a huge chunk of people are mass recruited, doesn't mean you can't get a good job. It all depends on how you study. The mess is decent, depends on yourself. Hostels if you get the one you want; it's fun and great with minor problems like ac not working once in a while, but if you complain they fix it within an hour or two tops. If you find some likeminded friends you can have all the fun you want as well as do well in academics.People unnecessarily hate SRM. It is not as bad as people say it is.

International students come in huge numbers to SRM for its outstanding learning environment that fulfills their academic aspirations, intellectual passion and the desire to experience cultural diversity at its richest. There are 2 blocks allotted for International students with a capacity of around 400. The hostel block is completely air-conditioned.

Not Perfect, But a Worth Campus It for the Right Student

Placement Experience:

I’m only just past my first year, so I haven’t yet taken part in any placement drives, but I’ve learned that students become eligible in their seventh semester once they’ve cleared all papers with at least a 50% score. From what seniors say, big names like TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Cognizant visit the campus, offering around fifty, thirty, twenty and fifteen slots each, plus a handful from smaller firms. Last year’s top package was about 21LPA, and the average landed near 6.5LPA.

While CSE gets good placements, core branches like Biotech, Civil, and Mechanical don't recieve equal placement attention or package levels.

Placement Experience:

College offers 100% placement to CSE students. Students are eligible for college placements from 7th semester. Over 1000 companies visit the campus and over 3000 offers are made. Highest package offered is 60 lpa, average package is 8 lpa. Everyone gets placed, around 400 students get jobs of over 12lpa, some remaining good students grab a decent job of around 10 lpa, rest get placed in mass recruiting companies and get around 4 lpa. If I can land some decent job, I would probably take it or maybe go for an MBA degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from their third year and they are specially given placement trainings in their third year... there are more than 1000 companies which visit the campus regularly and students are given a lot of offers.As of my knowledge the highest paid package was 5400000 per annum from amazon i guess and the least was 3-4 lakhs per annum ..The average package is said to be 700000 per annum. more than 60% of the students get placed every year based on their performance in the academic years and skills. Many top companies visits for in campus placements and recruitments like amazon ,google, deloitte, zoho, meta..etc...

This college is a market for Sevice based mass recruiters. As a student from here i wouldn't trust the placement cell. The packages are so low. The highest package was 35 lpa i think so which was offered to a single student 5 years back. This is true and don't trust the highest package. I plan to start a legacy of my own.

SRM University Chennai also known as SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST) offers good placement opportunities for students. The average package of SRM University is INR 7.92 LPA for placements 2023-24. The average package increased by 15.11% in 2024 compared to 2023 (INR 6.88 LPA).

Around 700+ recruiters hire students from SRM Chennai including big company giants like, IBM, Infosys, Honey Well, Air Asia, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Hyundai, Apollo, etc. The highest package of SRM University Chennai is INR 52 LPA (2023-24 Placements). Is CUSAT better than SRM for placement purposes?

CUSAT is not a good option for core branches i.e. Mechanical, Civil, ECE or EEE. I am saying this out of personal experience. No core companies visit for Civil placements, and hardly 1-2 companies visit for Mechanical.

SRM gives its students the opportunity to sit for core companies like L&T. At CUSAT, core branch students are ultimately forced to sit for mass recruiters like BYJU’s, Wipro or TCS, or to try for off campus placements or competitive exams. But for CS/IT, Safety and Fire, and Ship Tech, CUSAT is a good option. The placements for these branches are quite good at the college.

CUSAT is a great option for its flagship courses, but if you want to study a core branch, choose SRM University.

SRM University Chennai doesn't offer the MBBS course you’re looking for rather it focuses on STEM disciplines. If interested in MBBS placements, you should look into SRM MCHRC, which is a separate institution under SRMIST.
